No. They instal the sim card in the store for you. All set up in 3 min and you walk away with a working data connection on your phone

i think registering IMEI is only for Indonesian citizen (passport holder).. i believe the simcards he mentioned here are for foreign tourists..? i didnt register my IMEI on arrival and the Telkomsel simcard that my friend bought for me could not be connected.. 😏

I went to Indonesia, used to buy Telkomsel, its better for next time buy Smartfren. Need visa, phone they take a picture of you for there data bank.
