Ah yes, racing in Assetto Corsa Competizione. The thrill of taking your GT3 car to the limit of adhesion, battling wheel-to-wheel at obscene speeds, engaging in vehicular combat with your opponents around the most glamourous circuits across the globe. What’s the secret to achieving this motorsport equivalent of nirvana? Years of training? Millions of pounds? The Senna-like belief in your own God-given talent?
Tyre pressures.
No, wait, hear me out…
As the sole component connecting your car to the race track, getting the best out of your tyres is key to having any chance of competing for wins at the top level. This applies as much to real-life as it does to esports and sims such as Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC.)
Keeping the tyre pressure at optimum levels aids, grip, tyre life and prevents punctures. Sims such as iRacing, rFactor 2 & ACC have their own take on tyre modelling, and all have their quirks and flaws. But, by and large, ACC has attracted a lot of praise for the way the tyre model replicates rubber warm-up, slow punctures, graining and flat spots.
Setting the correct tyre pressure in Assetto Corsa Competizione really does affect lap time too, losing tenths of a second per lap is possible if you veer away from the optimum pressure by one pound per square inch (PSI) - the standard unit of pressure measurement.
Obviously, not everyone needs to go to such lengths to optimise tyre pressures in Assetto Corsa Competizione, but at the top level where everyone is looking to find that extra little bit of lap time, it becomes vital as it provides you with a platform to develop your car setup and move up the grid.
After all, there’s no point in having Senna-like talent if you’re racing on four over-inflated rubber balloons!

The formula for temp change of 1° to tire pressure change of 0.1psi leaves out one very crucial piece of information: starting from where? 30° at ?psi...25° at ?psi...i need a starting point for this formula to work. Any starting point. Just give me one. I can math the rest.

Just simply: wow man!, I have expent my time this afternoon looking the pressure, im novice (in all the driving world) and this make a lot of difference, i didnt understand why if i change from one server to another why i make different times or why i drive better or not, (temperature, different pressures),this made a lot of difference, how you can join the curves with a hard angle (more agressive if you want), how handle curves (correct pressure feel like the car is totally grabed to the asphalt,maybe i figure this can depend circuit etc) and i can exit the curves more fast. What a joy!. Im leaving from hit the "wall" of a novice, i mean hard to achieve faster times, despair because dont know what to do, random driving (not feel in real drive of the car, random curves, loose rear without know why etc) and this, get a good setup and trailbraking make a lot of difference. Thank for the video!

@@garrybartlett6853 👍 , i haven't tested PC2 but i can understand what you mean. IDK if this is going to help you, but i share with you my road at the start, without any knowledge about motor and not having a real driving license in mind, starting from 0. I used to be very competitive on videogames, that means not fighting for the podium at the start made me not enjoy as i could, that was against me, not enjoying like i could. The second thing is the knowledge, check good videos for tips, how the car works, videos explaining the circuits etc, to understand. sometimes is like "man i dont have desire, the mood to do that or whatever", but the knowledge is important. The good thing of this sim is you'll find circuits that you'll like a lot, probably you'll go on a new circuit and discover a unique curve with his unique feeling etc, enjoying a lot, a race where you find a driver with your same level and enjoying a lot. So just chill, no frustration where you reach a barrier, check if you need more knowledge, more practice, better configure your hardware or whatever to cross that barrier. 👍😉

can anybody explain to me why after a session..when i go into the setup menu to make air pressure adjustment...in the "last readings" column..it does not give me accurate numbers ..for example..the psi hot numbers will will read between 25.4 and 25.8...yet during my session..my pressures were over 2 psi more than whats its saying..

I've played the game for quite a while now and I haven't gotten a definitive answer on this, I already asked several players in-game and they have conflicting answers. So, #1 where should we base the PSI, is it from ambient temp, or is it from track temp? and #2 what is the ambient and/or track temperature that the default aggressive setup PSI was based on, did Kunos just threw random PSI for each track as default? Thanks for the video.
@atse7en799
@atse7en799 3 жыл бұрын
Until recently I always used Track temp. Now I find it easier to adjust 0.1 PSI for every degree of Ambient temp change. As for the pre made setups. It's just a test session & see.

It's a tricky one and comes down to one of the reasons why I love ACC so much... The variables are realistic. In real life, track and ambient temperatures both affect how the tyre will perform, and in ACC it's exactly the same, so its very difficult to give you a definitive answer. Generally speaking, these 2 different types of temperature move in sync, which allows you to roughly predict how to adapt the pressures throughout a race. But maybe you will need 0.3psi less for conditions that are (21c 15c) rather than 15c 15c). Its honestly all about trial and error, and you will rarely have exactly the same conditions twice in a row! As for the default setups, I believe they try and sit somewhere in the middle temperature wise. They are usually near the correct window if you are running offline with the 'clear' and 'cloudy' presets, which depending on time of day, track choice etc. will vary slightly. As soon as you customise your own weather and temperatures, you will have to work out ideal pressures yourself. Hope this helps a bit, but I know it's not super clear cut or a definitive answer. It's why I love this game!

Same, the ecu mapping numbers/brake pad numbers meant nothing... now I can set them for the most ideal (sprint race setting) them types of info (where ACC give you nothing to work with) really puzzled me and kept me from exploring the set up section... selected balanced and drove...

I think that's the point of this series... set ups are a, dicated by the car, track and conditions, b, your driving style, c, how comfortable/easy it makes the car drive for you... set a to 1, set x to 10... it don't work that way...

I have only started playing ACC, thanks for the tips and I know now the temps have changed in 1.9, can I ask on the tyre widget what are the 4 rectangle boxes in the middle of the tyres thanks
@TraxionGG
@TraxionGG Жыл бұрын
Hi there, you are very welcome! The 4 rectangles are actually your brake temperatures. If you check out our full 3 part beginner setup guide series you will find out more about these, but essentially they tell you the temperature for each of the 4 corners, green is optimal, blue is cold, yellow is hot and red is waaaaay too hot. This will be affected by brake ducts and brake pad selection. Hope this helps, do check out the setup series for a guide on what to change and when! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGWbXqJrYrOLaLs

hi, great video. one question, so the right pressure of tyres,also changes according to how much fuel the car is loaded,right? So, I learned that in pratice we should test with 62 L , drive a few laps, then set the tyres pressure and so on. Now, what happens if I have a race, where my car is loaded with 100 liters, do I keep the tyre pressure from the 62 Liter setup, because the fuel load will drop down along the race or do I set the tyre pressure in the pratice with the 100 Liters?
@JohnMunroRacing
@JohnMunroRacing 3 жыл бұрын
From my experience, although pressures can vary a bit when you change the fuel load, it won’t be huge. It’s effectively the same as driving a little bit differently, in that you won’t see identical results each time but if you are consistent it should be close enough. As for what to start on, it’s honestly just down to opinion. When we prepare for longer races where you will be using 100L+, we test with 100L+ to see how the car behaves at the start of the stint, but then as your tyres wear and you burn off the fuel things will of course change and develop. So maybe if after you burn off 50L, your tyre pressures are too high for example, then start with them closer to 27.3 so that when they do begin to increase later in the stint, they stay inside the window for longer. Alternatively, if your pressures decrease throughout the stint, do the opposite and start with them at the higher end of the range. It’s not the most specific of answers, but I don’t think a specific answer exists, there are always too many variables so it’s a case of getting them as close as you can 😊
@Werferharfer
@Werferharfer 3 жыл бұрын
@@JohnMunroRacing thanks, sure, is all about compromise and whats going on the track. In the league I race, the best drivers are all driving with 100 l in a 60 min race, 5 l refuel , no tyres changes (not obligatory) . It got me by surprise, because I am used to change the tyres and start the race with what my fuel app says, till my next pitstop. I also practice with 62 l to set my setups and tyres pressure. So, this strategy kind of mess up my understanding about the tyres. But when someone speaks it out loud, it becomes clear again. Thanks a lot
