How To Master the Rain in Assetto Corsa Competizione

It’s generally believed that wet weather is the great leveller in motorsport, with the fastest cars not being able to capitalise on their outright speed. It’s the driver that makes the difference. Germany has a word for this: ‘Regenmeister’, which translates into English as ‘rain master’.

When Senna was a kid, he lost a kart race bc of the bad weather (he use to be really bad in rainny races at this point). After that day, everytime it rained at his city, he would take his kart to the track and spend the whole day driving in rain (and he kept doing that for pretty much his whole life). I'm Brazilian and I remember watching him racing when I was a kid, and everytime it had possibilty of rain, everyone hoped that it would actually rain. Even the Brazilian announcers use to talk in a tone of "certain victory" when that happened. That's how good he was in rainny conditions. p.s. Barrichello was really good at rain too. Rain always counted as an advantage on his race strategy.

What do you do if your wet tires get baking hot on a damp track, but your dry tires stay ice cold and you have no grip?

Hey! Usually this happens during the crossover point from wet to dry or dry to wet, so for a while no tyre is perfect. In those situations, it's all about trying to decide the best moment to switch. If you want get the slicks on before its fully dry, try increasing the pressures to keep the heat in them at the start, although you will suffer later on with over inflated tyres when it dries up. If the rain is starting, try not to put the wets on too early as they will burn up easily. You just have to hold on for a little bit longer and cope with the lack of grip. Just remember in these situations, everyone is in the same boat, so there are no winners or losers 😉

Like the guys @TraxionGG said but also I personally would set practice sessions with standing water and dry weather for the drying track and conversely a dry track with high chance to rain for the getting damp & then practice away. I realise that the instances won't last long but, again, everyone is in the same boat. Just remember when the weather changesfrom dry to wet, drop the engine map to something far less aggressive and adding some extra ABS too won't hurt. The idea is to try and prevent as much wheel spin or sliding as possible. This should help keep those temps down, as will braking earlier and more gently, taking corners slower and accelerating gentler too ( helped by the use of engine maps ). In the end, it's down to you. As the saying goes, guns don't kill, it's the person firing the gun that kills. I hope my thoughts help.

Can someone explain me why I am randomly spinning, on Monza I go full throttle on the main straight and then when I cross the line I randomly spin. It's in the same place every time, but it doesn't look any different from the parts that don't spin me. I was using a Lamborghini Hurucan ST Heavy rain and track conditions set to fast.

Absolutely love acc but the I am shit in the rain. Mostly because I simply don’t want to be implementing settings for every car, track and race. I just want to race, I do not have the time to find out what all the settings are and I could not care less. With all race weekends and championships having annoying rain races I only just do hotlaps, and that is boring

i like turning the rain on because it LOOKS cool but it does get annoying af when i'm sliding everywhere on heavy/storm settings, and it barely seems to affect the AI drivers if at all. it helps slightly if i drive really slow but that still doesn't guarantee i won't lose control. and i also can't be bothered tweaking shit...

If you set weather to custom, turn dynamic weather on and increase the variability this should allow the possibility, but as far as I’m aware, I’m not sure you can set a specific weather pattern like you can in many other games/Sims. One thing you might be able to do is set ‘standing water’ to 0%, but turn up the ‘wetness’ setting? 😊 Most of my experience in changeable conditions has come in online endurance races, they always have a higher chance of variable weather.
