Traxxas 4Tec Drift Car - 1st Impressions

This reminds me when I first got into drifting with a TT01, and had to learn fast about surface grip and tyre compounds. It wasn't until I took my car to the local drift club that had a polished cement circuit, and tried some different MST drift compounds before the car really lifted. The only issue here with the 4TEC is the motor layout. Like the TT01 the hotter the motor, you're going to start dealing with some torque steer at some point. If Traxxas update the design to get more than 60 degrees steering angle, this thing will really come alive.

Great video man, I’m tryna find some other bodies but these clipless so new I can’t find any 😢 I wanted to get a jdm body and paint it, do you know if there are any aftermarket bodies?

@@irenealvarez1337 you can buy the original body post that were made for the standard 4tec. This way you can use most of the bodies out there

They're moving into different genres to sell more units. The drifting crowd's standards are extremely high, I have seen drift cars approach the 2K mark in investments, so this is a steep climb for Traxxas.

It’s true. You need to try this on either wood floor or track. It’s unusually good on those smooth surfaces as far as asphalt. You’re gonna need a different set up like we mentioned in the video. I can’t believe they did with software…. The car is brilliant.

For asphalt, in addition to tires, do you think just changing the gearing will help or is it better to the the Titan 12T and gearing?

Mine works well on my smoothie black top. Mind u my black top is smooth. Do u suggest the 12t and pinion change?

@@irshred if you would like more speed, and more raw power than yes you should try it.

I don't think it'll handle the extra power well. It already spins out way too much. There's a reason they didn't use the 12t or bl-2s and that's because they're masking how bad this car is by underpowering it.

@@cd-pu5uv we have already installed the justock 10.5. It’s incredible. You need to upgrade the diff to metal though to handle the torque.

@@ParkflyersRC you need to upgrade the diff to handle torque on plastic tires with no grip? That's one weak diff I can't figure out why they wouldn't just use the diff from the 4tec and use thick fluid to lock it up.
