Your presentation and attention to detail is great. I will never buy such a high spec bike, but then again neither will most of the viewers - it's just great to know what's out there, and to see a great rider and a great presenter on these awesome bikes. I look forward to following the channel from now on. Thank you!

Having just test ridden a 2020 Madone SLR 7 etap (100km, 2,000m), I can confirm everything described in this video . It really is a wonderful machine. The frame/wheel design means it does catch the wind when blowing from the side, yet the bike was never nervous because of this. Still, you wouldn't want to take your hands off the bars on a bike like this (note to Froome...). The comfort (vertical compliance) was exceptional (compared to my 2013 Defy), and I was riding it with the stiffest ISO Speed setting on very mixed road surfaces; super smooth, to ragged and bumpy. The bike felt stiff, nimble, and all the while enjoyable and fun. I absolutely agree with the comment that it hums along as you ride the smooth surfaces. Regarding fit; it is worth shelling out the Project One dollars to have the saddle/bars/stem/cranks adjusted to your perfect size. Then you're set and you needn't worry about the issues related to non-standard parts. If you're in the market, I don't think you could go wrong with this bike. My only problem; this or the 2020 Tarmac Pro! ( a very fortunate problem to have )

Hi: I am watching a lot of road biking vids . . . not so that I'd buy one. I am actually watching in order to remind me that I am not really a road biker. I ride a Scott Spark 900 RC. I do go on road, but I go on trail too. I don't like being on the road. The reason IS: PEOPLE ARE TEXTING. People are distracted and I never want to have cars driving behind me. So, I keep on watching road biking in order to get over the novelty. If I got a road bike, i would constantly be not enjoying the thought of a car behind me instagramming as they are driving. So, I want to get over road bikes. I have $15k sitting in my bank just waiting to be spent, but I want to exercise restraint instead of buying a Tarmac or a Emonda SLR. So, I will be saturating myself with these vids until the urge is over. I have done this over exposure therapy with other things that I have wanted to buy. So, I know my technique works. Thx.

You can see the effect road disc has on the fork flex (7:02). It does not flex much, since there is no rake and the fork must be reinforced to make it offset the braking force on one side. Most of the front end compliance is coming from the area underneath the stem, most likely from that decoupler and the flexing of the stem. Compare this to a retro steel bike with a curved fork. The flex in a steel retro fork keeps the compliance closer to the hub and the handlebar relatively stable. Can't say which is better, but only that there can be some basis for people liking the feel of old steel bikes over modern carbon.

So Timemachine Road 01, SystemSix and Madone all roughly same weight around 7.8kg for 56cm....how come the Venge can do it at 7.1kg?? Is it because it's less Aero? Kinda curious on the huge difference and the Venge comes with dual sided powermeter as added weight.
@mitchellsteindler6 жыл бұрын
power meter weighs like 60g, so that's hardly a factor. However, it clearly has smaller tube profiles, which simply means less material. We won't know which is fastest until they're tested against each other by cycling weekly
@404nobrakes6 жыл бұрын
It's because Specialized found that downtubes do not matter for aero as much. That is to say, you get a small watt return per gram. So they focused on the fork, wheels, and cockpit. That gets them more than close enough to aero bikes that go all out on the DT.
@carefulsum6 жыл бұрын
Honestly I was looking forward to choosing the Madone as my next aero bike, but I just can't get over the weight. I think my main issue is with IsoSpeed, I mean I don't want it because I want my race aero bike always in the most race settings as possibe and Trek forces me to accept it and I think that's one of the main contribution to the extra weight
@tomterblanche23156 жыл бұрын
The SystemSix's weight isn't accurate. The bike comes in at almost 400 g over it's advertised weight. The Venge also looks a lot more like a climbing bike than an aero bike, hence, I think, the weight difference.

Hello, I'm on the market for a Trek Madone. I'm 182cm and inseam 83cm. I'm wonder if I need a 58 as according TREK sizing chart or 56 (as I have a Canyon ultimate disc medium which is very comfortable). Thanks a lot for support :)
@rajeshkannan_s5 жыл бұрын
Comparing geometry, 56 Madone is close to medium canyon ultimate. If you are comfortable with your ultimate medium, go with 56. Also, for my height 172, Trek recommends 54 size, but I felt more comfortable with 52 size.

I’m enjoying the bike so far kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

Not to mention the system 6 and Venge can be adjusted without recableing.
@brenthinkle33526 жыл бұрын
Isospeed is about... speed😉. The design is based upon data not “feelings”. Some vertical compliance = faster. ...and enough of a benefit to make up for the small weight penalty.
@jonathanzappala6 жыл бұрын
Brent Hinkle well my Trek speed concept doesn’t have it, and it’s a much faster bike, designed for up to 112 mile bike rides. Gimmicks like the iso speed or zertz are just that, 28mm tires provide immensely more compliance than frame flex. Or even lower pressures on 25mm tubless. Bike companies can’t sell that though can they.

How is it in climbing? Comparing to Emonda?
@frankbaker51746 жыл бұрын
Guy Shenpen Dawa gotta be way slower. A rim brake Emonda is under 15lbs. I have a disc domane and a rim Emonda 2lb weight diff. Emonda is way faster. But after 70 miles beats you up a bit more. Not to mention that rim brakes on carbon wheels only work when it's dry.
