I appreciate the guy who said that Catholics don't live the faith. I was a Baptist who gave up trying and now I'm a Catholic who is trying to cooperate with all of the graces that God gives me through the Catholic Church. I would like to ask him if he knows of any Protestants who have lived holier lives than St. Benedict, St. Theresa of Avila, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Padre Pio, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Maria Goretti, etc (just naming my favorites). Based on appearances, they don't exist. These are people who came close to fully cooperating with the firehose of graces that God gives us through the Catholic Church. There are Protestants who cooperate with the graces they get from a grace conduit the size of a cocktail straw. These are holier people than I am. That says more about me than it does about the Catholic Church.

I am a Protestant and I have an issue with the caller whose basic premise was, "Protestants are more "on fire" for Jesus than Catholics are." That is a serious over-generalization. I could be wrong in my assessment, but it also seems like he is basing his decision on whether to be Protestant or Catholic on what he perceives to be the personalities of people and not on doctrine. This is simply a guess, I don't know this gentleman. But I wonder, would he automatically become Catholic if his perception was that they were more "on fire" than Protestants? I think it could also be that certain traditions and worship styles attract certain personality types - and that has nothing to do with theology. There are a variety of levels of belief in all movements.

When I was Protestant, I had a negative view of Catholics, and I think I understand his point. I knew a lot of people who identified as Catholic and went to church, but didn’t follow the teachings of the Church and didn’t behave as if they believed. Now that I’m Catholic and I’ve seen both sides, I liken it to irreligious Jewish people. They identify as Jewish, because that’s their heritage and culture, but they don’t follow the religion. I think there are Catholics like that. But when I was younger, I just thought that all Catholics simply went to church on Sunday, then spent the rest of the week doing whatever they liked.
@thisisforgod868 Жыл бұрын
@@limeOjello that can be said on both sides (Catholic and Protestant) . When I was Protestant , I know some people that I know would go to church and commit adultery afterwards or commit other grave sins. It is easy to be misled that Protestants are more devout for most Protestant churches are like country clubs where people know each other and are able to socialize with each other after service and are able to talk more about God afterwards. Whereas, Catholic Churches usually have Christians who don’t socialize with each other after mass so they aren’t able to get to know each other and talk more about their beliefs and ways. But it doesn’t mean that they have less faith or are more sinful.

About the priesthood matter: The called mentioned that Jesus was pressured to follow the patriarchal society and not ordain male priest at the time. I would disagree that Jesus would be pressured over things as small as that. Jesus was a radical figure at the time. He approached the most condemned: tax collectors, lepers, prostitutes, etc. If he desired a woman to be ordained, he would have done it anyway since he was already that radical. But he chose not to anyway. I think this says something.

The biggest objection for me is salvation. Ephesians 2:8-9 are very clear salvation has nothing to do with works we are justified by faith. Matthew 7:21-22-23 Jesus Rejects Works based salvation these are people who called Jesus Lord Lord and believed in him but he rejected them because they didn't trust in him alone for salvation. John 6:40 tells us the will of the father is to Believe In Christ. The people in Matthew believed in Christ but they didn't trust in him alone for salvation. Matthew 7:13-14 tells us there's only one way to heaven few people are saved. John 14:6 tells us Jesus is the narrow way Christ Alone is our ticket to Salvation. And before you're Justified it's impossible to do good works John 15 tells us we can't do nothing unless Christ abides in us but he only abides in us after justification.

With all due respect, Aren't the saints in their grave along with Mary? I thought the only one that rose from the dead was Jesus? In Revelations it says the 'dead' in Christ will rise when Christ comes back and also Jesus tells us not to pray to the dead as this is necromancy right?
Necromancy, a "two-way" conversation, is strictly forbidden. An example of this in the Bible is when King Saul went to the witches of Endor to get them to perform a spell to conjour up the ghost of Samuel. The Spirit of Samuel literally came and appeared before Saul. They had a two way conversation. When we pray, well, let me say this first,....the word "pray" means to ask. You here it a lot in old English , as in Shakespeare and such..... I pray thee, please tell me from whence you came..... Ok, ... the word "worship" means to give all praise, glory, thanksgiving, and sacrifice to a deity, or a God. As Catholics, we believe in one true God, the creator of all things. We only "worship" God ,Our Father. We believe that ours is a triune God. One God, three persons. Three persons, in one God. We call this unity, the Holy Trinity. We know that the Saints in heaven are very much alive. We are all one body in Christ. When our physical body dies, our souls go to heaven. When we pray to Saints, including Mary, we are doing nothing more than asking them to pray for us. It is that simple.
@Catholiclady310 ай бұрын
What about the people Jesus raised from the dead when he rose? And Elijah and Moses talking the Jesus on the mount. When we die, we become alive in Christ. Just like those people. Did Jesus practice necromancy when he spoke to them? There is an example in the bible of necromancy. Check it out

Jordan Hartley Do you mean the priests and servers? Or the people attending? I see people wear all types of clothing from fancy to sweatpants at my church. But, yeah, the priests and servers wear “vestments” to celebrate the Mass. This comes from the book of Revelations when John describes worship in heaven and he saw people wearing vestments. In the case of the priest, it’s helpful for remembering that it isn’t him specifically offering the sacrifice of the Mass, it’s Jesus working through him. So the vestments are for him to kind of get lost in and help people think of Christ and not the priest. Hope that makes sense. I get it, I used to be Baptist so I had to get used to that too.

@InhabitantOfOddworld5 жыл бұрын
Why wouldn't it be complicated? Would you agree that brain surgery is complicated? What about quantum mechanics? Those are both material matters, which are minute in comparison to finding eternal divine salvation. Of course it will be complicated, you're dealing with a heavenly father who made the universe itself in all his omnipotence. Furthermore, humanity never found any real divine truth until 2000 years ago and even then, so few can actually adhere to it. Look how many people have lived vs how many became saints. We're the exiled children of Eve, scrabbling in the dirt for the most part. Salvation is neither easy nor guaranteed. As for protestant vs catholic, we'll play nice once the post-Lutherans put down the heretical nonsense and come back to the one true church.

Trent, if you believe that doctrines of the faith and morality can change then YOU are not Catholic. Because how helpful your works have been to me over the years, despite your recent defenses of a pope gone wrong (idolatry, defending homopredators like McCarrick, speaking blasphemy like "God will's the plurality of religions," attempting to change doctrine on moral death penalty), I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are probably embarrassed by personalizing your argument against Timothy Gordon. You constantly interrupted him and I think it's because you felt you were (rightly) being corrected on the sin in your own household. You contradicted yourself when you said "where does it say definitively that that is a SIN"? (referencing woman choosing to go into the workplace). Then you said you believe it is a "SIN" if parents neglect their children, which I agree with, but I ask you: where does the Church say THAT exactly? To keep consistent with your burden of proof, you'd have to show this. Maybe it does exist and I just haven't seen it. And if it does, you didn't show where on your talk with Tim. And it still wouldn't change how poor your performance was, if for no other reason (and there are other reasons) than you were incredibly rude and unfair. I expect and pray for better from you, Trent. there is no such thing as ABROGATION on CATHOLIC DOCTRINES OF FAITH AND MORALITY. That's for Protestants and Muslims. I also want to restate just how helpful, especially against atheism and abortion, you've been. May God bless you and your family, Trent.

IDOLATRY “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.” - Deuteronomy 5:8 2. PRAYING TO MARY “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” - John 14:6 3. PAGAN PRACTICES OF PRAYING REPEATEDLY And praying, do not use vain repetitions like the pagans, for they think that in their many words they will be heard. - Matthew 6:7 4. REFERRING TO PRIEST AS FATHER “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.” - Matthew 23:29 5. BLASPHEMY IN CONFESSION Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!” - Matthew 9:2-3 6. Why do you think that being a member of the Catholic Church would offend God? What do you think is required to be a Christian and what are Catholics lacking that prevents them from being one?
@eddyrobichaud58322 жыл бұрын
@@brittoncain5090 Hi Britton. I've talked to many catholics and no matter what proof I give them from the bible that practicing the catholic religion is offending God, will not change their minds, because their hearts is attached to their religion ,and not attached to the God of the bible. The most important part why a catholic is not a christian is because their salvation depends on their religious practice and their works, but the bible says in John chapter 3:16 says For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Ephesians 2:8-10 says that it's by grace that you are saved through faith and not of yourselves it is a gift of God, not of your works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Romans chapter 3:23 says that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Verse 24 says being freely justified by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. To become a christian you have to repent believe "faith" trust, that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ which is the grace of God to humanity, can save you. Not joining a religion, not doing good works, but putting your faith in God's grace, Jesus's sacrifice alone can save you. Hope this answers your question. Once we make this decision, we become a child of God, a christian from there on our good works is by obedience towards God, we are being grateful, showing God our recognition towards Him for our salvation, the forgiveness of our sins and the eternal life we have because of Jesus's sacrifice.

@@SaintCharbelMiracleworker The keys that Jesus gave to Peter were the Keys of the Kingdom, i.e to preach the Gospel so that those who heard, believed the message and repented could enter the Kingdom of God. They would become spiritually regenerated, members of God's family and a part of the Body of Christ. Peter used the keys to preach the Gospel to the Jews in Acts chpt. 2, to the Samaritans in Acts 8 and the Gentiles in Acts 10 to be saved and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In Matt. 28:19 Jesus instructed all eleven disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. Preaching the Gospel is the means of opening the door to the Kingdom for all who will believe and be saved, and closing it to all who will not believe, John 3:18. All believers are encouraged to preach the Gospel. Binding and loosing refers to believers declaring an unrepentant sinner to be unsaved (bound) and a repentant believer in Jesus Christ to be saved (loosed.) The binding and loosing authority was also given to the other disciples - see Matt. 18:18. "Bind" and "loose" were common Jewish legal terms meaning to declare something forbidden or to declare it allowed. The term is also used in reference to Church discipline, Matt. 18:15 - 20.

@@savedbygrace791 you have to understand the hiarchial structure of a kingdom to understand the keys meant full authority. The ancient Jews understood this. The early church fathers teach this. Protestants interpret out of context, unfortunately and act as there own pope. Catholicism is a pagan religion and preach another Jesus

The real truth about GRACE: All you hear today are preachers teaching the people that they are under GRACE, but GRACE is a pagan deity name, so let’s see what words GRACE replaced in scriptures. Psalms 103:4 He redeems your life from the pit, he surrounds you with grace / LOVE and compassion, Colossians 3:16 Let the Word of Christ / Yahweh dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and songs and spiritual songs, singing with grace / PRAISE in your hearts to Yahweh. Hebrews 4:16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace / YAHWEH, that we may receive mercy and find grace / YAHWEH to help in time of need. 2 Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace / FAITH that is in Yahweh. Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace / the SPIRIT and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for His name: 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace / SPIRIT of Yahweh I am what I am: and His grace / SPIRIT which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace / SPIRIT of Yahweh which was with me. Acts 15:11 But we believe that we shall be saved through the grace / SPIRIT of Yahweh, in like manner as they. 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace /SPIRIT is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory / PRAISE in my infirmities, that the power of Christ / YAHWEH may rest upon me. John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his righteousness, esteemed as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace / SPIRIT and truth. Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of Yahweh Messiah, and great [WAS THE] grace / SPIRIT [THAT] was upon them all. Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace / SPIRIT and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. Acts 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace / POWER of Yahweh, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto Yahweh. Acts 20:32 And now I commend you to Yahweh and to the Word of his grace / SPIRIT, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are called out. Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace / FAVOR and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Romans 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace / SPIRIT through the redemption that is in Messiah Yahweh: Ephesians 2:5,8 5. Even when we were dead in sins / TRANSGRESSIONS, hath quickened us together with Christ / IMMANUEL, (by grace / the SPIRIT ye are saved;) 7. That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace / MERCY in his kindness toward us through Yahweh Messiah. 8. For by grace / FAITH are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of Yahweh: Acts 20:24 But I hold not my life of any account as dear unto myself, so that I may accomplish my course, and the ministry which I received from the Lord / Yahweh, to testify the Word of the grace / SPIRIT of God / Yahweh. 1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace / SPIRIT of Yahweh I am what I am: and His grace / SPIRIT which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace/SPIRIT of God / Yahweh which was with me. Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace / FAITH according to the measure of the gift of Christ / Yahweh. Acts 15:11 But we believe that we shall be saved through the grace/SPIRIT of Yahweh, in like manner as they. 2 Peter 1:2 Grace / BLESSING and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of Yahweh and of Yahweh our Master. 2 Corinthians 9:8 And Yahweh is able to make all grace / BOUNTIFULNESS abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: Zechariah 12: And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace / FORGIVENESS and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God / Yahweh, called to be saints / elect : Grace / Peace to you and peace from God / Yahweh our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ / Yahweh Messiah. The following verses where GRACE was put is where PEACE goes: 1 Corinthians 1:3; Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 1:3; Philippians 1:2; Colossians 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:2; 1 Timothy 1:2; 2 Timothy 1:2; Titus 1:4. This is Grace in Greek Mythology. The Trinity female deity of Joy, Charm and Beauty! The three Graces, relief sculpture from Thasos, Greece, 5th century bc; in the Louvre, Paris Still working on this one. "Grace" comes from the Greek word "charis," and the Latin word "gratia." "Charis" was a Greek deity, the wife of Vulcan. From the female deity "Charis" comes the Greek "Charities," three female deities, daughters of "Helios," the Greek/Roman high Sun-deity. The Catholics teach this: “Hail (Mary), full of GRACE, the Lord is with thee" (Luke 1:28) So the Catholics switched the word Favor for Grace.

#TrentHorn's argument for a single, human head of the Church is very weak. We ought to heed the guidance of the Holy Bible: not elevating any apostle over others in teaching authority, and keeping the precedence of the early Church in Acts 15 that preserved unity through council led by the Holy Spirit.

Hmmm.... guidance of the Holy Bible? The WORD is not a book. It's Christ. Jesus left a Church and Leaders, the book came later.

The bible is not the koran. It's not the word of God. It's not some preserved and untouchable divinely inspired screed. It's merely the writings of various people over the years. The Gospels are merely eyewitness testimonies. They all acknowledge that more things happened than that which is documented by them. Sola scriptura is a fallacy.

@@chuckHart70 All Holy Scripture is divinely inspired for the purpose of guidance (2 Tim 3:16-17). Churches and indeed all Humanity should humble themselves before its corrections.
