Trevor Noah is totally right, folks pretend racism is over but it is deeply engrained in societies around the world. “Reporters” like this would fight tooth and nail when someone rightly informs them that they are racist, but then they display their collective racial superiority complex and fuel the delusion further. The “cherry” on the proverbial racism cake is Ukraine’s refusal to let African people (mostly students) flea the war…and the Western media’s journalistic ineptitude on the matter or their deliberate disregard of this appalling behaviour by their “civilised” kin. Everyone should stop burying their heads in the sand on racism: - Perpetuators of racism should acknowledge their individual and collective racist views, be honest about it and then make a choice whether they prefer to remain racist (because ultimately for them, the benefits of racism certainly outweigh its costs…) or whether they want to change and are willing to give up the perks of racism for them. -Africans, who often bear the brunt of racism, should stop “drinking” the Kumbaya “coolade” the Western media has been shoving down our throats for eons and accept that although we have not done anything of note to provoke this level of negativity and hatred from the “West” and to a lesser extent the “East”, we are where we are, and we need to heal our collective consciousness, love ourselves fully, and break the yoke to this Western system that is designed to keep the superiority-inferiority dynamic between races intact at all times. Our people are in a sick Stockholm Syndrome scenario when it comes to the system of white supremacy - we must heal, fast. Once everyone is prepared to be honest and lay their truth on the table, then we can all make proper choices about what to do next as human beings to ensure equal humanity is assigned and acknowledged for all races. The current hierarchy of access to human rights based on one’s skin colour that we have observed repeatedly over centuries, perhaps millennia, may benefit the perpetrators in the short term but it is detrimental to us all in the long run. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32.

BAM! Thank you, this is very wise. You nailed it. Westerners have gotten lost from deeper truths. The European cultures have been fighting each other nonstop for centuries, and have dragged everyone else into their cultural narratives of global conquest, division, status, materialism, racism, money, war, conflict and separation from Nature. The whole world needs to get back to the wisdom and value of "ubuntu" (love for community) that all our ancestors once understood.

@@chasefukuoka61 you are right, it is and has always been a race issue and until the beneficiaries of this system of white supremacy and racism decide to be honest, and until the non-white people (I would like to speak specifically of Sub-Saharan, indigenous Africans going forward, as those are my people) of this world begin to love and respect themselves and one another, the cycle of racism and diminished access and opportunity because of race will continue. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXO1qKCKi7t-h80 This is a digression but you know, we are naturally rich and blessed in infinite ways, but look at us, we don’t even realise it - our governments cry for “aid” and foreign investment when we don’t even need it. The divide and conquer strategy used to subjugate us has succeeded but if we wake up and start from a point of love, we can overcome. For instance, look at how South Africans keep on burning Zimbabweans and other Africans for no logical reason instead of focussing on the Boers and other non-Africans who are gripping their economy relentlessly decades after Apartheid. Now they are chasing other Africans out of SA and they haven’t even dealt with the fact that “Jan” still “owns” through inheriting stolen land and resources and the spilling of innocent blood of millions, if not billions, of Africans over the centuries. I focus on SA because they demonstrate the lack of love and respect for one another in Africa but it is actually widespread. I mean, when I enter Edgars in Harare and get ignored but when “Becky” or “Raquel” get the “how can I help you mam” treatment when they walk in after me, what does that show? I get that same treatment in Europe where I live and I brush it off because it is not my country after all but then when I visit home, I get that treatment from my own people.. indeed the racial hierarchy is ingrained in all at this point. Now the Boers are claiming to be indigenous to Africa when only 25 years ago they had “Africans not allowed” and “Whites (ie Europeans) only signs; how did they suddenly go from “Whites / Europeans only” to now being another African tribe? And why do our people play along with this nonsense? We are a loving people, especially to those who are not our kin, so unlike Europeans, even after independence in African countries, we ensured the human rights of the colonisers and their offspring were protected. Wish we had done the same for our own too… The beneficiaries of WS cannot, never have, and never will do the same for us until they let go of their superiority complex and get real about their racism and fear of losing the advantages their white skin gives them (evidence: Ukraine as discussed, US gunning down innocent black people, Italy letting fleeing refugees drown in the Mediterranean, Chinese abusing Africans in China and accusing them of causing COVID-19 when we all know it was China’s fault, and many, many more). Our people should wake up and focus on doing right for and by ourselves; we must do better for the generations to come. We have everything we need in Africa natural resources, human intelligence (you don’t want to get me started on that one 😂) and a loving, generous spirit and a righteous culture (hunhu and tsika is what my people call it but I’m learning this culture exists throughout Sub-Saharan Africa too) and utmost reverence for the Creator of all things and the world unseen. Don’t get me wrong, we also have bad seeds like any other group but collectively, the principles I mentioned above resonate deep within our souls despite colonisation trying to stamp out and actually remixing our history to fit their purposes. I mean they remixed the “Bantu migration” narrative solely to refute our claim to our God given land and resources (wow, that’s a digression within a digression 😅) Anyway, I could go on for days on these topics, so let me spare you my dear and wish you blessings and self-actualisation as the Creator intended.

Under-educated - It is petty dicrimination, not "racism.' Since a definition of 'race' does not exist, neither does biracial. Inheriting genes that produce intermediate skin color gives people the opportunity to exercise (or not) prejudice. No one has a race, genetics can only determine skin color. People try to define race by continent, region, ethnicity, language, biology, shared 'diaspora' fantasies, and through genetics and no one finds a definition because we are all homo sapien, one species, with genetic evidence of mixing with two (and counting?) other homonid species, Neanderthal and Denisovan. Erase the problem of petty discrimination by skin shade through education, skepticim, and science. Race belongs with Flat Earth, Creationism, Spontaneous Generation and other false ideas. Stop whipping a dead horse because it stinks. Let's all remove the problem by sticking to reality.

@@markplimsoll you’re playing a semantics game and your rudeness, instinctively defaulting to insulting me with your opening word, literally proves my point. The people I described (perhaps like you) refuse to be honest about their superiority complex and resort to condescending, patronising, gaslighting, aggressive or hatred-fuelled behaviour whenever people like me tell the truth. Regardless of whether racism is based on something real or not, the fact is the systems put in place by Europeans (and I know some would argue that South Asians created classification of people by melanin content and that might be true, or not, but I’m talking about the current toxic white supremacist hierarchy, before you attempt to “educate” me on another theory / concept I’m already aware of) have categorised everyone in the world based on factors such as their melanin content or where the melanin content is similar (eg some Chinese and some Europeans), their continent (and perhaps other factors like their phenotypical traits) become the system’s differentiator. Now I wonder if your response was based on a lack of comprehension or a deliberate feigning of ignorance in order to ignore the substance of my comment and derail it by “mansplaining” things we have heard before… only you and God know that but my response assumes your comprehension skills are intact… The POV I have described seeks to 1) identify the problem, 2) challenges those benefiting from the system of white supremacy and racism to become truthful and honest about this topic and a) acknowledge that the problem exists and b) accept how they are perpetuating this inaccurate and toxic system by pretending it doesn’t exist (much like what you have just perfectly demonstrated for us here), then 3) proposes that truth and love are the first steps to dismantling this hierarchy of people created based on melanin %, ancestral location, and other factors that have little to no correlation with a person’s character, intelligence or spirit/soul/mind. Ultimately, whatever you want to call it does not matter because the word “racism” is not the point here. The point is clear to any person sincerely seeking to engage with those of us who want to see the prolonged and ongoing ill-treatment of people of Sub Saharan African descent stop and a fair and righteous system, centred around love (ie love for human beings, nature, the Earth, the Almighty, everything) take the place of the current WS system. I normally would not engage someone with the mentality you have displayed including your badly concealed intention to misdirect and misconstrue. You chose to “educate” me on a point of view I am very familiar with in order to gaslight me and you even commented on factors about me as an individual for which you have insufficient evidence to make meaningful assertions. I’m not willing to engage any further with rude gaslighters so sayonara.

I agree that race doesn't REALLY exist. There is only one human race. But racism (in people's minds) as a way of thinking *does* exist. Hitler was "racist" to think an Aryan race existed and to call Jews a race that he saw as inferior and dangerous, so he tried to exterminate them. That was racist thinking. And in these videos the reporters are showing racist thinking, white supremicism even. They are saying white European people are somehow superior and MORE important than non-white people. "These are Europeans dying" .. The guy from CBS said "You know, this is a relatively civilized, relatively European city.., where you wouldn't expect that or hope it's going to happen." He's showing the white privilege and supremicist "racism" that lurks under the surface in many many people's minds. And this is why wars go on in the Middle East and Africa with Muslim civilians killed every week without real efforts made to stop them.

It's a good point, but one also has to remember that it's not unreasonable for people to associate war with places like the Middle East, because that's where the wars most discussed in our news have been going on the past years. To say this about Europe doesn't always have to be "it's so sad it's in Europe" but rather "it's so unexpected it's in Europe". Ever since the second World War (with the exception of the Balkan wars) there haven't been such conflicts of this magnitude in Europe.

@@konusRTV You really should cover Ukrainian Nationalism especially during World War 2 when Ukrainian insurgency and Nationalists who engaged in many of the worst atrocities, ethnic cleansing, and genocides in history on Jews and Poles. Ukrainian Nationalism was very much fueled by racism, xenophobia, and Fascism and was a belief that Ukraine should be for Ukrainians only. These atrocities were so horrifically gruesome that even the Nazis and Soviets were horrified by them. Stepan Bandera and other Ukrainian Nationalists collaborated with the Nazis and welcomed them as liberators. The number of Poles that were butchered by the Ukrainian Nationalists number up to 500,000 with many of them being women and children. They also slaughtered over a million Jews. Unfortunately too many of these monsters escaped justice with the help of the OSS and other allied spy intelligence agencies. Fortunately many of them were arrested, lined up, and shot by Soviet firing squads. While ethnic Russians aren't being persecuted in Ukraine, there are certainly many non Ukrainian foreigners who are getting attacked by Neo Nazis and racists in the streets throughout Ukraine. Roma are one of the most persecuted groups in Ukraine along with African and Arab foreigners who have been attacked in hate crimes by Ukrainian Nationalists and Nazis. Like the rest of Eastern Europe, Ukraine is also a country infested with racism and xenophobia especially towards foreign looking people. There were Vietnamese tourists who were assaulted by Neo Nazi gangs. During the evacuation in early 2022, Africans and Indians were attacked and beaten by Ukrainian ultranationalists who attempted to use the dark skinned people as human shields against the Russians. Eastern Europe has a huge problem with racism and xenophobia which needs to be addressed and fixed as soon as possible. I love Ukraine and want Ukraine to win against Russia but don't you dare try to white wash or sugarcoat Ukraine's cultural backwardness. It is a very racist and xenophobic society which needs to be addressed and fixed as soon as possible. No amount of whitewashing is going to fix that or you're going to have Ukrainians here getting their skulls cracked open in retaliation.

People are genuinely surprised by this war. And the most recent experience tells them these wars happen in a desert among poor people. So this happens to be their point of comparison. Truthfully, I think the point I take away from reporters saying these things is ‘look at this America…its not just poor nations …it can happen to other classes as well! Could you be next?’ Also, the poorer nations would not stand a chance in a war with the US. There would be limited to no chance of such a war becoming nuclear or extending into europe. A wealthier (relatively) nation being attacked by a huge and much richer giant of a nation does suggest this could become worse. Both with a land invasion and potential for much worse. Stop making things about race when they dont need to be Trevor. If this really was ‘because they are white’ the US would already be in there and actively engaged. Consider yourself lucky sitting there safe in the US not having this war sitting on your lap…yet. Right now US, EU, and NATO restraint are keeping Russia from airmailing you a few thermobarics or something worse?

Give everyone a smart phone and social media. Then we can see what happens around the world. If you’re concern about areas around the world that lack representation, then go over there and start representing the unreported tragedies. Make the story rather than react to the story. There’s too much talking and not enough action. Too much sympathy and not enough empathy. Discrimination happens everywhere, but what are you doing to stop it?

Sure, but reporters need to be careful dehumanising refugees from other countries as there will be a backlash. (Although this conflict may be more important to the viewer.) Look at the backhanded description as Ukraine as 'relatively civilised'. So, who is at the top of the civilisation hierarchy? This is dangerous as it ended up with international students (who contribute $500 million annually or did) being treated like illegal immigrants as they fled.

What a sad thing to say. The situation in Ukraine isn’t a moral issue and it certainly isn’t a democracy issue. It’s a strategic issue for both the west and Russia and both groups have used their propaganda to make it seem like morality and democracy is at stake. If the United States wanted to help someone they would help Mexico, a country with over 30,000 homicides a year, a country with such a weak government that cartels terrorists effectively run the police. The west doesn’t give a shit about human life
