In oh so many respects, what these people are carrying in their pockets, could even as well be found in the pockets of a westerner. Mustafa often refers to himself as " just a villager", but in my mind there's no doubt that he's a Brahui gentleman. - And tho' he's a really pleasent and honest man, he's not someone anybody should mess with. I like and respect him very much

Very astute! Now that you’ve mentioned it, I agree wholeheartedly. He’s always held himself with a certain dignity that I immediately felt a great respect for him. Admittedly, I just attributed it to him being an elder and acting as such but you’re right! More than just an elder, he is a gentleman who practices self care and development. So, whether from a village or from a metropolis, the man is a class act. Thank you for this insight! 🤙🏽

I felt sorry for Mehboob. I know he and Manzoor are day labourers and they get paid a daily wage according to what work they have done. He carried a receipt for money he was owed by well off people who sometimes don’t pay. That’s the case in South Asia, where the poor struggle so much. These ‘ big ‘people pay when they find it convenient knowing that labourers count on daily cash. 😢

I'm in a South Asian country, Sri Lanka and here pretty much everyone pays as soon as job is over. There is no "I'll pay later" here. For example if I call someone to do work and then if I tell them I'll pay later, they will shout at my house in complete filth for an hour, and probably break a part of my property. Maybe it's different in Pakistan.

Most of our dresses and skirts have no pockets at all, and the pockets in our pants/trousers are often so little you wonder why they put them in at all, if you hold your hand flat you can only get the fingers into the pocket but never the whole hand, pants for men have much bigger pockets here.

Betel nut chewing is common to the subcontinent and Southeast Asian. In SEA it is chewed with a few other things that gives an orange stain to the mouth. They do same too in southern India I think. As a woman from America, I wish we were given a big pocket in our clothes like this! I have to carry a bag because the pockets on my clothes only allow me to carry my cellphone 📱. I keep my Keys on a chain so I don’t lose, and my bag gets full of other things. I’m surprised here how the men have combs and mirrors, while women don’t. Even mehboob has perfume. SAME! I'm a bit jealous. So many clothes for women don't have pockets or have tiny, useless pockets. One of the reasons I hated dresses growing up is that none of them had pockets. Mom even told me that I *shouldn't* have pockets because then I'd just stuff my hands in them all the time. Which is true, but it's to keep from fiddling with and picking at stuff.

Wait, so Mustafa preaches about only eating stuff made in his village but he buys packaged cigarettes instead of rolling his own. Interesting

@@BrotherChad it used to be common in the past until cigarettes became so common and cheap to buy. Subcontinent hand made cigarettes don't have any filter, it tastes so bad.

Can relate to naseebah about keeping things in small purse when u have children. Because when you're busy dealing with them and you take something out from the pocket your things will drop without knowing. When you're a mum u have no time for that.
