12:30 pyrion is absolutely right about the prefabs everyone who has gone to school in the UK has probably been in or seen the shitty box "Temporary Classrooms" which end up sticking around forever.

Nothing so permanent as a "temporary structure".

In Canada we call those classrooms "portables" and they are far too common.

Man I absolutely lost it at "Stiffler's mom used to look old to me" so fucking true One kid posting a picture of another lady from back in the day, saying how "old" she looks now. She shows it to me and she looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm fucking getting old

Dropped my mobile today, smashed screen, first time after 25y of having one :-( but just that theme tune and the dad's voices is enough to lift my mood back up.

Me and my friends used to make prank calls to stores and businesses. We'd make up the weirdest stories to make each other laugh. I remember calling a funeral home asking if they had room for a circus elephant that had fallen out of a truck on the highway. It was amazing what some people would believe without being able to instandly look stuff up on the internet.

Sips > who wants to just hang around and golf with 65 year olds? Sips > What, do you just play a game for 5 minutes? I'm getting a sense that Sips doesn't understand there are other people in the world that have different outlooks on life. They hear you play video games for 12 hours every day and they think "wow, I haven't played a video game in years!". There are people that have other interests, dont play video games at all, and love golf.

My favourite take is when he could't believe (no matter how much the others said) that someone would go to Mariah Carey concert, as if she wasn't a widely famous singer. I think it was her at least.
@liam41842 жыл бұрын
yeah, going on about how boring andout of touch it is for these older people to have BBQ's with their friends and play golf wilst he sits in his garage playing video games for 10 hours a day. Nothing against sips, I love the dude, but the way he thinks sometimes is confusing to me 😂😂

I work on an ambulance in the States and in my town at the very least, retirement homes and nursing facilities are extremely depressing and infuriating to respond to because of the lack of care the residents get. In the nursing homes, none of the nurses are competent care providers generally speaking and either defer everything to us in EMS to avoid liability, including some of the most mundane non-ER worthy ailments, or instead neglect to take care of their patients and call us seven hours after dear old Meemaw started to walk towards the light at the end of the tunnel with a raging abdominal bleed that they could have recognized seven hours earlier and possibly saved Meemaw’s life by doing so and calling 911. The other places that aren’t necessarily medical aren’t as bad but also generally confine residents and all they amount to in essentially what is a tiny bedroom, a tiny living room, and a tiny bathroom in a place filled with their peers suffering the same sentence. Just seems like they’re places for people who’ve been written off by their families and left to decay without proper care or attention, it’s extremely disheartening. You’ll see some of the nicest and most interesting people in those places dying a very slow and very undignified death, sometimes just happy to have someone visit for them specifically, regardless of the fact that they showed up in an ambulance going lights and sirens to a call. Some were some accomplished people, too, really sad to see they’ve been largely forgotten and resigned to live out the rest of their days alone and unnoticed. A lot display their accomplishments in their rooms or out in the hallways, you’ll see plenty of photos of WWII vets who will tell you how they were piloting some of the most cutting edge secretive aviation shit of their time or how they used to work with some famous band and made pop culture history or something (and have it actually be true), crazy. The healthcare system is so screwed up sometimes, lots of bad allocation of resources just to avoid getting sued or because things get blown way out of proportion, and these care homes are definitely very much caught up in it. The places I’ve seen are not very eventful, not many hobbies being taken up, not a lot else going on besides people sitting in their rooms watching TV all day. I’m Arabic so my culture is a lot more geared towards taking care of family and elders live with their families and are taken care of, so thankfully my grandparents and by extension my parents will never have to deal with that hopefully. I’d hate to be kept in the background of my family’s life and left to be alone for the rest of my time and agree that I don’t think that it will be as common of a thing. I’d want to see my actual tribe, my family, blossom and go forward. Some facilities I’m sure are as described in the video to be actually pretty cool but it’s far from the majority. My understanding is that most places are as I’ve described.

I'm sure most places in USA are like that, but remember, most other advanced countries are social democracies, not hardcore capitalism like USA. These are primarily private for profit institutions in USA, where as the rest of the advanced world has the government handle it so corners aren't cut to save money (because of more oversight most likely), also not many countries are as litigious as USA.
