No no no I'm sorry... But Simon's year away from the group really made them grow into something new and better. Now they all bunch up across the channels which, in my opinion, makes it a lot more entertaining. That was a rarity back when Simon was on every day. Plus, Lewis' charisma then and now... He stepped up big time when Simon went away.

I think the changes from the internet touches on ALL of the points they have made; firstly I think with immediate access to information, people will not remember it nor make an effort to become an expert. You may argue that if we always have that access then learning and memory is not necessary. Lacking these memory skills do detract from other life skills, but if we advance to where there is nothing but the internet at all times in a brain mounted HUD, then you wont need to learn. It's a philosophical can of worms, but the main points is we are evolving technologically; when information becomes instant and ubiquitous then I doubt we will be humans any longer. The other points they struck about how emotionally fragile children become is also an interesting point. I think both sides are correct, the internet is an echo chamber where your points are validated by somebody with the same false beliefs, this leads to a huge amount of polarization among everyone. You have people that are insecure and emotionally unstable to an alarming degree, where you struggle to understand how they remain breathing each day. These people take everything personally, and make no attempt to reconcile their fragility and insecurity even if they have knowledge of it. And, on the other hand you have emotionally barren people, the kind of twitch chat mentality where everything is looked at critically and cynically and no attempt is made to display emotion. These people take advantage of the anonymity to portray themselves as immune to emotion until they begin to believe it themselves and practice it outside of the internet with real people. They take advantage of the emerging trend of having an introverted-gamer stoic personality. I think the latter creates a more rational person, possibly more progressive in some regards, but the con of that mentality is the lack of social interaction, which is often celebrated among their communities (_"aw, man I never leave the house, what is it like to have a life"_ for example). Newer generations will never be understood by older generations, that has been practiced since the beginning of time. Perhaps, the current changes in newer generations are not negative or exceptional and the internet and technologies allows us to fully see how radical the generational change is when it occurs, which is not something we have had in the past. Regardless there's either huge change coming to our species as we devolve socially but connect massively with vast information, or this is nothing new but looks new because the point of view required to comprehend the full picture is beyond the perspective of one lifetime.

In my opinion Pyrion has no idea what he is talking about. If you live in the U.S. that has a very bad education system which is ridiculous because it is the united states and you're not promised anything anymore even if you graduate college. People go on for years and years and years before they can even get a job in their field. Before our generation people were basically promised success even without a college degree. But now it is mandatory and still you are considered lucky to work in your field you want to.
@sam23696
@sam23696 7 жыл бұрын
Callan Tucker That situation is one I'm familiar with in Australia and University. However that is due to the success of the current education systems not that failure. The systems have produced more educated and over qualified people then a country needs. Currently in Australia there is advertisements and policy reforms to make Universities harder to join and more expensive. Essentially our countries need more dumb labor. I think personally this highlights the growing issues about automation and how outdated our education systems are. We need to change them to a fashion where you don't sit in a classroom learning Mathematics from a teacher that hates their job for applications you might not need or anticipate you need whilst being surrounded by trouble makers, but rather secondary education uses a mix of external classwork online _and_ on site work experience. Every large company in the world should be government funded to host and educate kids that seek to one-day work in their field. The removal of physical school buildings and funding would be where the money for that comes from. Teaching jobs would transition to educational assistants hired by those companies that host work experience. Keeping schooling separate from work is quickly becoming ineffective. That's just my opinion, but I honestly think current systems in place, like government and education are quickly becoming outdated. Change will come either through reform or conflict.

it's true, a one man echo chamber is still an echo chamber, they still believe whatever bullshit, they just don't talk about it. The only problem now is that every view point can produce propaganda for like zero effort.
@Elenrai
@Elenrai 7 жыл бұрын
Well thats not much of a problem compared to the following: Every view point -could- produce propaganda, which yknow, propaganda is like, literally everywhere, an advertisement is actually propaganda, now, the real issue lay in that we LIMIT what debate is acceptable and then allow a very lively debate within that small field. A good example of the Triforce crew failing to live up to this wisdom(Its actually somehting lewis said) is that they HAPPILY are like "Oh yeah being gay and sexually deviant is TOTALLY fine with us, we dont care! Its not important!" And yet they belive that all furries and weirdos like that are fucking messed up. And that shit come from 3 guys living in a country that drove the guy responsible for this amazing technology being so comprehensive, and saving MILLIONS of allied soldier lives, into suicide. I mean really? The idiots claim to be tolerant, until they cannot comprehend something and then it is instantly wrong no matter the context.

Lewis is right on this, generations thinking the next generation won't be as good in some way is just juvenoia. Our parents thought our generation was going to ruin everything, and our kid's kids will feel the same way.

Man, in 1998 I went to New Zealand for a few months to live with a girl I'd met *on the internet*. By that stage I'd dropped out of uni the first time after having my network accounts banned for "hacking" (which wasn't actually me, in that instance.)

Once again they talk about something I just learned about the day before. Like the Phone off the hoke I just saw in a movie the other day, never before did I know that was a thing you could do until I watched that movie and now there talking about it! Small world after all. 12:55

Yeeeeaaaah Pyrion... You oldies sure are good at agreeing to disagree. Did I hear Lewis mention anime? And can I faintly hear Pyrion call him all kind of condescending shit for liking that? :P And ... The fact that the few people you know in your country is a certain way, does not mean "the youth of today" are all like that ;)
