Wow, are you serious? The food was the best part about Japan! I was there for a month and traveled all around and did not have one bad meal the entire time, their attention to detail and passion for perfection in flavour is second to none. I even had a friend with me who was not the adventurous food type and even he was raving about the food. But it does sound like you fell into a lot of the stereotypical tourist traps
@hoathanatos61797 жыл бұрын
A lot of East Asian food has slimy and gelatinous textures that tend to turn Westerners off. You have lots of fermented fish and beans, raw fish and meat, fried and boiled insects, live fish that you chew and kill in your mouth, and then there's stuff like fish milt, which I won't even touch. Some more traditional foods are just too weird for many Westerners' pallets.

As an American I usually don't complain in restaurants for most things (you could bring me the wrong meal and if it looked good I wouldn't say anything). However, most Americans will complain about super small things. I work at a pizza place and if you cut it slightly wrong or add too much/little of anything they will probably ask for it to be redone. Wtf Americans
@gangsterbread36967 жыл бұрын
I'm the same way. I'm not that picky in terms of small problems at restaurants.
@Gindisi7 жыл бұрын
literally nobody does that
@rdizzy17 жыл бұрын
You obviously haven't been to many restaurants if you think no one does that. I've seen people screaming at cashiers at grocery stores because their tuna can is dented, or the dollar bill they got back isn't crisp. Also have seen people yelling at McDonalds workers for cheese burgers not being hot enough, or not enough extra bbq sauce, etc. Same with normal restaurants.
@BalthorYT7 жыл бұрын
Wow nurbs, way to completely change the issue. If you pay for something and an important or sizable part of it is in some way wrong, yeah, of course it's normal to ask that the service you payed for is provided as it should. But if you're being a shithead and getting angry at someone because a minute detail or completely unimportant thing is "wrong", then yeah it's absolutely rude and awful in every conceivable way. Europe just doesn't have so many people with their heads so far up their ass that they complain about super small things and make a ruckus, but of course they will complain if they ask for steak and they get a salad. Don't pretend that being able to ask for your product to be as it was sold to you is a "positive American trait", it's just common sense and, surprise surprise, it exists all over the world, Europe included. Whining about details, making huge issues out of stupid things, and being absolute garbage human beings towards cashiers and service providers in general though, is absolutely a negative American trait, and one that's been earned through countless and unparalleled cases for quite some time. Maybe if those consumer protection laws were a thing in 'good ol' Murica' these kinds of things would happen less often...
@gangsterbread36967 жыл бұрын
The other thing too is is getting mad at your server or cashier for making a complicated item wrong or a item they barely have on the menu. I've never understood people that are like "i'll have scrambled eggs and bacon at this steak house" and their defense is "well, they have those ingredients here" just go to a breakfast place ffs.
