I live in usa and seemed to have lost my touch for making pastelles. When I was in Trinidad I made them perfect. In usa I was using regular cornmeal. I made these for Christmas 2023, used my own recipe for the ground beef (Of course trini pimentoes, shadow benny/culantro etc). I used the Masarepa precooked cornmeal by Goya, followed your cornmeal recipe and my pastelles came out GREAT!!! Thank you for your channel and recipe. I SUBSCRIBED!!! Yes they can. That's how I do them to save time. Just don't leave them refrigerated for too long because they get white stuff (maybe mildew) on them.

Any oil of that person's choice. Butter or margarine gives the dough a luxurious and rich texture. Very smooth and silky. But oil will also work.

Any all purpose chicken seasoning will do great. Perhaps Adobo seasoning, if that is your style.

...and then wrap in foil again. So, double wrap it in foil to make sure the foil doesn't rip easily and then you have a big mess on your hands! 😮

you can make your own using olive oil and buying annatto seeds online and infusing the seeds with the olive oil on low heat.

I try it with the corn flour and all mine came out dry . I usually used cornmeal to make mine now I’m going to remake it tomorrow but with the cornmeal itself

The filling is too dry. Try using a meat sauce or spaghetti sauce while cooking your meat. Try it you will love the difference
