I am amazed by all the dead HDMI connectors on game consoles. What are the owners doing to them? I have never broken a port before.

often moving console? and swaping the hdmi cable
@TravisFabel2 жыл бұрын
Usually broke an HDMI connectors are from either the console itself falling and yanking its cable or something else falling behind the tv area onto the cables. How does a console fall? Well most people don't cable manage behind their TV and then when plugging something new in or moving something around they're tangled and it pulls on something and that makes it fall.
@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co2 жыл бұрын
The issue in my opinion is down to the design of the HDMI port itself. I suspect that whoever designed it didn’t anticipate how it would be used.

quite a gamble with reusing water damaged power stages.. The wise thing to do would be to replace those 3 completly with somes from dead board.. Its only a matter of time until one of them dies and sends full voltage straight to the APU.
@tusux29492 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Whether it's working right now or not, when electronics get water damaged, it is only a matter of time before they fail. It may be within a day/week/years but they will fail. Huge gamble, especially with power stages that can kill the APU. Should've replaced all the damaged ones and drown them in UV mask to cut the oxygen supply for further corrosion. Maybe he did off-camera, but selling "fixed" water damaged electronics always makes me cringe. It is a time bomb if not properly fixed. And sometimes even that is not enough and they fail anyway.

the legs of that hdmi personally would also go through with flux and little bit of solder wouldn't trust factory solder because sometimes it could become cold solder when using it again and with new replacement part and the legs wouldn't hold and the new part could brake off and could also brake something else like the pins with pads
