When me and my wife first got together we camped at salt springs 2 or 3 times a month. They call site 160 the honeymoon suite lol. I met some folks that had a bear go through they're tent on that site while they were gone. We live in Summerfield about 40 miles away from there. You should fish Crystal River while your here. It's pristine

You should've toured/walked by the actual spring (the other side of the buoy from where you were at) and watched all the crabs by the spring (I don't think you can catch the crabs in that area). They're a plenty and about the size, if not bigger, than the ones you caught. The area where you were at is usually filled up with boats during the summer.

I clean my blue crabs before steaming with old bay . And remove them promptly to prevent overcook and waterlog. See if you can make an old fashioned wire mesh net .I have a detachable handle one that will fit down inside my steamer.😎 Its less resistance in the water and less scary to the quarry. Happy crabbing.

Two weeks apart, I came across a 5 to 600 lb Male Black Bear. it was in early Spring and he was making his rounds with the ladies. A week after I first saw him going across the road, he was headed back a week later and only about 100 feet in front of me. It was near Salt Springs in the Ocala National Forest on a dirt road I had to travel to get to the National Forest shooting Range.

Another great video, JC! This may have been asked before, but why don’t you put a couple hydraulic arms on your camper door? It will help keep it open when climbing in and out. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a degree of Old School Coolness with the “stick method”, but the hydraulic arms might be an option when your hands are full.

The crabs swim faster than your small mesh cotton fiber net can move. Get a net with large 1 inch holes. Avoid nets made with cotton fibers, they move too slow in the water. Nylon type fibers are faster in the water. I've even seen home made netting made of chicken wire! They move real fast in water and are an old style country design. Also the crabs won't tangle up in the metal mesh. 😇
