Like the looks. My great uncle had a 70 that was custom order by a farmer who changed his mind and bought a 3/4 ton instead. According to my uncle, it was built like a 1 ton, but it was a half ton. Loved it. Wish my dad never sold it after inheriting it.

Oh seeing that truck brings back some memories. My mom and Dad had a one similar year only it had a Chinook camper on the back of it.. We took that thing on every dirt road we could to go from Bend to Winnemucca Nevada and back.. From it being 103 degrees with no AC or the vapor locking going up the steep mountain road to the Hart Mountain hot springs or being told by my father to hold on we've lost the breaks when we were about halfway down a steep mountain road because the brakes got too hot or just breaking down in the middle of the Black Rock dessert on the way to Winnemucca. Lot's of adventures were made in that truck motorhome conversion . They weren't the most handsome of trucks but they are still cool. Thank you for rescuing these trucks......

In Norway there are a few of these trucks, I can imagine, but I have only seen the later models. BUT I am all into the small details you talk about. Specifically, and it's not an IH only thing; the seat belts! I have a childhood memory of the same style knuckles/buckles/locks/whatever it's called. European cars from the late 70's (at least) and up all have/had plastic types. Somewhere in the 90's I sat in a squarebody Suburban for the first time and the seat belts made such an impression, these metal ones. Still, every time I see a similar one it takes me back 🤩 Great CAR, as we 🇳🇴 would call it! Love the combination of colors outside/inside!

Our family had one like this that Dad ordered new, the side trim as I recall was part of the Deluxe interior package, my uncle was an IH dealer so he and Dad sat down one evening and ordered it just like he wanted, right down to the special color orange paint,it came out right around $2700 and with the Winnebago topper he bought for it came out almost $3000 when it was ready to pick up he,my uncle and cousin drove to the plant in Springfield,Ohio to pick it and a new Loadstar up to take home

That is what I would call a real truck ! I've always been a Chevrolet truck guy & Massey Ferguson tractor guy! But always respected anything I/H & drove I/H Dura-Stars , Trans-Stars, & Pro-Stars for a living as well as other heavy duty brands but loved the I/H 's the most ! & This is just one stout P/U ! & IMHO what is there not like about it ? It's the complete heavy duty package that you would want in a half ton P/U & then some . Thanks for the awesome video on this rugged yet beautiful truck.

Great looking truck. The hood reminded me about the 1968 Travelall I drove to college in the 70s. Snow would get in under the hood and blanket the engine far too easily and I had to call AAA several times to correct the situation. I eventually got a blanket and threw it onto the engine to prevent the snow.

Nice truck. You say that 1968 was the last year for the 1100C. I had a 1969 1100C back in the day (bought it in Billings. Montana in 1972). Wasn't 1969 a "change in production" year; started with the C's and then introduced the D's later? Loved that little truck! Thanks for the video!

Awesome truck but you are a little overcautious with the tires. As long as they have enough tread to get good traction and no serious dry rot cracks it doesn't matter how old. The tires on my old truck lasted 14 years and around 80,000 miles before it was time to replace them. Most trucks would need them replaced sooner than that since my truck is really lightweight and that does make a big difference on tire life but 5 years is nothing.
@MaxNafeHorsemanship
@MaxNafeHorsemanship 2 жыл бұрын
The rubber starts to harden after as little as two years and you get less traction, but that said, I am driving on 15 year old tires on my Falcon. I've also owned tires that started to crack after just a year. I totally get Ben's approach though. Everyone is different, and the guy that replaced the brand new tires I put on the Land Cruiser I sold him...
