I have a 23' and i do get some rattle noise when going over bumps. Other than that, i enjoy getting in it everyday and just going! I owned 2, 5.7s in the past and i feel just as confident with this new power train as i did those. Plus, the added benefit of more power and better mpg. The new gen Tundra is a solid truck that will make anyone happy if they just give it a chance. Good review fellas!

@Pieate….. Also, I think the EPA successfully strangled the half ton trucks with the boa constrictor-like ever tightening environmental requirements. Their tests favor turbos for emission so turbos are taking over. The only positive example I see in this segment is the GM 3.0 L Duramax diesel. Yes it has a potential flaw with the location of the belt but otherwise looks like a great engine. Other than that, the half ton field is dead for me. If I want a good dependable engine then it’s Heavy Duty trucks. Ford, GM, Cummins.

Would have no problem with the Tundra if they gave us the stellar Toyota Torsen center diff so we could run 4Auto (and even low range unlocked center - no binding!), and gave the Hybrid some generator capability. With those I can live with the low value and other basic trimmings.

Before the new Tundra came out, I was all in. When they announced the prices, I fell out. The price increase was a lot more than I expected, so instead of a new Tundra, I bought another 1 year old F-150. I'm still considering the Tundra, but it will most likely have to be a used one to fit into my price range.

I think Toyota did a great job focusing in the most important aspects of an vehicle, the powertain. The 3.4 V6 has tons of low end torque and the 10 speed is very smooth. I think with time this will prove to be a very reliable powertrain. The lack of v8 is unfortunate but not surprising. However, I think they missed some important details found on the competition. The integrated bumpers, lack of tow hooks, no pro-power system on hybrid, and lack of integrated bed step are all misses.

@@PiratePete-te8qp None of the new trucks have a dedicated transmission cooler. GM/Ford 10 speed transmissions and Toyota all now use fluid heat exchangers. Plus the amazing versatility with hauling cargo and of course towing. Just prepare yourself with the sticker shock of fuel costs … which can’t be avoided with driving any truck. V8’s will disappear in half ton trucks period. CAFE and emission standards have mandated this. V8 engines can’t meet the standards. GM will eventually have to eliminate their V8’s as well. So haters stop crying! Manufacturers aren’t trying to kill your fun. They are obliged to meet the standards. Turbocharged small displacement engines will meet the standards. Will they last as long? The jury is still out. Toyota certainly is able to build a turbocharged engine that will last. Turbocharged diesel’s go a million miles! When there’s change there’s always haters!

Rear coils don't belong on anything but a pre-runner as far as trucks are concerned. I also can't take Toyota seriously as far as pickups are concerned when they don't offer anything over 8,500 lbs GVWR. Half tons have become play vehicles and the people who work their trucks have moved to class 2b and class 3 (or higher).

Toyota decided awhile ago that they don't want to make a 2500 class truck and up -- they could, they own Hino, but they don't feel it's worth the investment I suspect. Had they convinced CAT to make them a diesel, you'd probably see a 2500 and larger Tundra.

@@rich7447 I know they did. They tried to convince them when they were still in that business. And being completely honest, Americans in general don't buy non domestic half-ton trucks. @@imnotusingmyrealname4566 what do you mean lol? You have an option to get the crew max which has a massive back seat, optional 6.5 foot bed if you need more bed space. I’ll admit the noise piping through the stereo is tacky but that’s only on the pro which no working man buys. I myself wish there was a v8 option but let’s face it the government and EPA are strangling the auto industry with this emissions bullshit. Stellantis has already killed their v8 production, gm is likely in the near future to pull the 5.3 and 6.2 which are already plagued with issues. Ford will probably be the only company that will still offer a v8. Either way the tundra is a great truck, nothing is perfect. If you want to drive a computer with wheels then buy a ford or ram. A hit? Southern Alberta you rarely see one. For a long time you didnt see them on the lots.....now theres 6 to 10 on lot all the time. There's nothing amazing about them, nothing ground breaking. One day i may even look into buying one. Its a Toyota.....which is probably why it sells. Reliability....who knows The lack of tow hooks continually amazes me.

I don't really care about the V6 hybrid itself, but do I care about long term reliability and turbos just aren't going to last that long. 100k, maybe 200k miles if really designed well and you don't push the truck hard. Not good. Also the suspension change is just dumb, making this is not a towing or hauling truck. Its cleary designed for the brodozers and grocery store runs , vehicles that never go off pavement or do hard work. But hey, that's what pickup trucks are now I guess, and Toyota will sell alot of them.

Test drove the Tundra the other day. Looked good from far, but turned out to be far from good. The bad. 1. Plastic everywhere! The whole front end and bumper, the rocker panels, the rear bumper, the mirror. Felt very delicate. No way it would survive a jobsite or backcountry. 2. Interior felt nice, but for a $80k truck, no leather...... furthermore the seats felt really short, for and aft as well as height. The rear seats are only good for kids too. For a full size truck this is inexcusable. 3. There's also a tunnel still in the rear floor space. 4. Unreliable. JD Power rates these worse than any other full size truck. Issues with the turbo and electronics seem to plague far too many people on the forums and fb groups. 5. No premium sound in a $80k truck. Stereo was horrible. 6. Toyota dealers think its still the era of covid. Trying to get a bidding war between myself and another buyer. No thanks. The good. 1. That 3.4L TT makes great power. Felt smooth and transmission shifts were crisp. 2. The infotainment is the best out of any vehicle I've driven. 3. That steering wheel is one an F1 racer could love. Overall I think the Tundra is lot better than the old unit, but the bar wasn't very high. I ended up with a Silverado Trail Boss LT Duramax.

Hey guys i love urr reviews … can really say u are bias when tundras are that good, i have own 2000 tundra 2006 tundra, 2015 tundra, and now a 2023 tundra i got back in 2022…. My two cents in the 2023 is the lighting on inside the cab on short winter days the cab is very dark, the other mayor issue is getting on the truck bed… when have the tail gate up u can use the bumper, but when its down and u need to get up its to toe down cargo it is imposible te get on the bed older guys will look like kids in a jungle bars playground. I do construction for leaving so the truck bed gets used on a daily bases

No year of Tundra is close to a 3/4 ton. Not one of them has a GVWR within 1,000 lbs of the minimum required to reach class 2B and the vast majority of todays 3/4 tons are on the high end of the class 2B range (8,501 to 10,000 lbs) or over into class 3 territory. First and some second Generation Tundras managed just over 2,000 lbs payload in regular cab trucks. In those same years Regular cab F150s had payloads that reached 2,750 lbs and F250s started at 2,993 lbs for a Crew Cab (regular cab went up to 3,372 lbs). Tundra is a solid 1/2 ton pickup, but 3/4 tons are a different animal altogether.

3.4tt main and rod bearings blowing engines, wind noise, window seals don't fit, seats squeak and seat plastic cracks, no tow hooks, endless recalls, cheap plastic interior, radio nobs breaking off, glitchy technology, annual subscription for remote start app that doesn't even work well, terrible bumper design with no step, horrible payload, rear sag with ANY weight, and the whole truck rattles.... Did I miss anything? Toyota tried to catch up in design and technology, but all they did was drop the one thing they had going for them, reliability. The quality of these trucks took a nose dive and Toyota is making no meaningful corrections. Almost every issue that existed in the 2022 still exists today in the 2024 Tundras coming off the lot. Even Toyota owners/fanboys are starting to acknowledge the problems with the 3rd Gen Tundras. I feel real bad for Tundra owners who paid $10k -$20k market adjustments when you can now get 2024s $5k-$10k under MSRP.
