Those people weren’t her real friends. I have been left at parties or bars when I was younger by people that claimed to be my “friends”. Even in a different country. My best friend & I were left by 2 “friends” who were holding our money & IDs, while at a bar, in Mexico. Kind of like this story. If I would’ve been alone, I more than likely wouldn’t have survived. Still to this day, I wonder how we did, because there’s a lot more to the story that’s just insane & very scary.

This is a news story and as a journalist I must back up their use of ‘stepfather’ - they need to write accurately and factually because if they don’t they could get sued and lose their businesses. He is factually her stepfather; if she has an alive biological father he isn’t going to appreciate another man identified as the donor of half her DNA. Because ‘father’ means that physical fact. Ask any doctor or cop or school. Let’s not all get confused over terminology, feelings aren’t facts and don’t justify changing word meanings. We’re all free to love a stepparent or adoptive or surrogate parent as much or more than a biological parent and an accurate title doesn’t change that. Without them for blood relationships we can’t keep our ancestry straight and that’s crucial legally and biologically. Many women who complain a stepparent should take the title of father or dad from the biological father get real upset when the table turns and their kids are urged to claim fun new stepmom as their mother. A child has one mother and one father regardless of who raises them, but if you want to sub alternate meanings in your own home feel free, just don’t expect to see it committed to print.

Rule number one, hell the only rule when you go out. You always keep an eye on your peoples while you out. When I was clubbing, i made sure my female friends were always in sight. If they decided to leave the venue with someone, they'd let me know. But if a friend of mine gets kicked out of a club, then we ALL get kicked out of that club. She didn't have true friends. I wouldn't want to know people like that.

I don't like the fact that when someone is "intoxicated by the alcohol or drugs" the security kick him/her out. That's irresponsible, I mean if I was the boss of the club I would made a room where put those people until they feel better, even if it's their fault because they choose to drink or to take those things.

I would blame parents too, letting her go out so soon in her life and not even finding time to monitor her life a bit.I mean you are practically sending still a child onto the street and cruel world we got.no matter how independent person is those are young people at some 18,19 yo,they aren't adults, they don't know the world enough.but hey there the law that says once you got your maturity, you get your car and your bank card, you can tell your parents to fuck off or vice versa and that's life in capitalism.

The friends suck for leaving her alone. But the bars need to come up with a safer solution to "kicking out" drunk girls/ guys alone in the streets with no phone, purse, or jacket. Why didn't they call cops for a drunk tank or an uber with her license info that she had to use to get into the bar to begin with. They took her money gave her many drinks obvi w/o cutting her off b4 she got out of control Bartenders have a responsibility to not over serve people with alcohol in a short amount of time..

i agree.... totally irresponsible to kick out a young woman, dressed in a mini and high heels totally drunk and staggering into the street in the early hours....they should have a protocol of how to handle it better, women are never safe, there are many Travis´s out there just waiting for the opportunity.......they could have put her in a taxi....better still her friends could have taken care of her, but it is possible that they didnt even know she got kicked out until she was long gone because friends get seperated in clubs, ultimately though we are responsible for ourselves and its definately better not to get blind drunk, sounds though like someone spiked her drink ....very sad, poor girl

I was 21 in 2011. I met Travis Forbes at work. He was friends with some of my coworkers and would come in sometimes for food (I worked at a restaurant). When he came in one day, my coworkers introduced us. He offered to give me some granola bars which I declined, but he was very insistant I take some. He went out to his car to get some specifically for me to have. It was a little weird. Months later this all went down. Everyone speculated that he was guilty. It shook me because Kenia was about my age. I shook this man's hand. It's truly terrifying how you never know what someone is capable of. RIP Kenia
