Phil seems to have mellowed and is more himself, people used to hate his personality and the fact he was unbeatable made him seem inhuman, he always seemed to be putting on an act trying to say something profound. yes he can still talk some nonsense but it at least seems the real him

As someone who has been to the Olympia several times, seen the post show seminar and various interviews with Phil, he's always been himself. A little more intense at the press conferences right before the Olympia, but he's always been pretty down to earth. At the same time, he's a competitive athlete and was at a collegiate level in sports before ever getting into bodybuilding. I think that's why some people in bodybuilding don't relate or whatever cus a lot of us haven't actually been in other sports, so they're not used to hearing trash talk that is a regular thing in other sports

lets be honest , we all liked kai better and we all wished hed win , but come on phil was just the superior body builder , infact i think phil is one of the top 3 of all time , only one who to really beats him is ronnie and even then he wins for the sheer asthetics that he had in the begining at least . the only reason he didnt win the 8th title was the giant backlash over his turtle belly but he really was killing everyone on that stage condintioning and muscle wise .

the main problem is so obvious: the open guys either do not have any personality or they just never bring it. Then we have this new way of posing the last few years. back when Phil was in his prime 2011-13 the posing for the legs was only about the quads. yeah the adductors shouldnt be lacking but they didnt flare them out like today which makes the legs look horrible. another problem: the classic guys bring it and they mean it. they have the personality, they have the rivalry but also friendly banter you can get behind. even somebody like ramon who doesnt speak english really but he is still involved and present. Then we also have the much better look in classic compared to open class and the posing.
