@@_-.Everlast.-_, I get what you are saying hunny, but it truly is part of the problem. 1st of all it is "self'- based 2nd it is "fear"-based 3rd it is "cold'-based Self based is often tied with fear based, but has old ego mixed in there, neither is it helpful to oneself, nor is it of ANY help or use to others. Cold-based is simply a lack of integrity-desire to do what is right, coupled with being apathetic, aloof, uncaring-unseeing...out of sight ... out of mind, likely FAR WORSE than the fist two. Doing what is right very rarely causes one 'trouble'-jail-time... if it does-SO WHAT!? At least you didn't compromise your own integrity...and helping others is our job, while we live on earth-period! Doing what is right, and helping others if anything will protect and prolong ones life. Yeah, there is a rise in crime, but how much of it is because people just ignore it or stand there and watch it happen instead of jumping in to help... not on my watch...It is what is partially wrong with the world today also. I grew up in a time when NOBODY stood around and did nothing when a fellow human being appeared to need help, and ESPECIALLY if it looked dangerous. Us rowdy's didn't give a rip much about our own skin, but we sure did for others, and that hasn't left me in 54 yrs and it never bloody will if it means selling out to fear, cowardice, and selfishness.

@@angelabroman18 you're absolutely right. This person I love who I kept out of jail and saved her life and none of it was easy. Also, one of the degenerate trying to drive her down who spent 21 years in jail for murder attempted to kill me. He had his hands around my neck and wanted to go back to prison because he was an Institutional man. But I kicked his ass and he overdosed soon afterwards. Some things in life are uglier that I can describe about human nature. The beautiful things of life are always worth fighting for.

Hitching a cross country ride with strange guys a few times. Walking home drunk asf, stumbling and ruining my heels. I'm very, very lucky I was never kidnapped/sexually assaulted/killed. I've traveled across states with men I just met and had a fantastic time. I've crashed drunk in the same bed and was respected, I've walked myself miles home drunk at 2-3am. I followed the Grateful Dead by myself before Jerry died. There's more, a lot more, however I was almost always safe in the arms of whatever power is out there and always got out before something terrible happened to me. A good friend told me I was "a r@pe waiting to happen" and it made me so angry I refused to associate with him any further; he was just looking out, trying to talk sense into me but idk.... all of the abuse I've suffered was never at the hands of strangers, that's for sure.

I worked with Jesse Matthew at UVA medical center. He worked in the operating room. I’m an OR nurse, he did environmental services in the OR. He was quiet, I never really much conversation with him in 4 years, he kind of just did his job and kept to himself. When Hannah went missing, we all sat in the lounge (2nd shift crew) and watched the news broadcasts on it. He sat in the lounge and watched it as well. We saw the footage of the man, which we later learned was him, walking behind Hannah. People gossiped, but there’s not a shortage of men with dreds. Then, one day.. he just never came back to work. Apparently that’s when he ran. Literally scary that I worked side by side turning over operating rooms with a serial killer. It chills all of us thy worked there at the time.

This gives me nightmares. I have an aunt who went to a concert in the late ’70s at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium (that's gone now). She got separated from her friends so at the end of the evening they had a plan to meet up at the car if they couldn't find each other & they waited & waited & she never turned up. She was abducted in the parking lot before the concert let out & was gang-raped in a van for hours by a group of men. They finally dumped her out in Cleveland somewhere later on & she was so horrifically abused, she could never have children after that. She struggled w/ alcoholism & mental health issues from the trauma for the rest of her life. My mother finally told me one day (I was very little when it initially happened) after asking her about why my sweet aunt was always struggling . They never caught the monsters & she said she was made to feel like it was her own fault because she was drinking. My parents were very overprotective growing up, especially whenever I wanted to go to concerts & my dad always insisted on taking us. Even going so far as to buy tickets a couple rows back to keep an eye on us!! This protectiveness made a lot more sense after she finally told me what had happened to my aunt so many years ago. I learned to ALWAYS stay together & never leave the venue alone. It's still not 100% protection from monsters out there but it is always on my mind now that I have kids in their teens.

We looked around and couldn't find it... She insisted that we should still get on the cruise since we paid a huge amount for it and she said she'd wait for us there... But there was no way on earth we'd leave our friend and just go like that.. We threw away our tickets and just walked around had fun and went back to our dorms.. That is what friends do!! Morgan’s death was so preventable. How hard would it have been for one of her friends to ask a security guard or other arena employee to bring Morgan’s belongings (cash and car keys) out to her? Or better yet, one of the friends just take Morgan’s things and leave with her? If I were at a concert with my friends and one of them was locked out of the arena without their keys or money, I’d grab their stuff and leave with them. My friend’s safety is more important than some stupid concert. When I was 16, I stayed late at work with the (also 16 year old) girl I was working with when the adult employee who was supposed to relieve us never showed up. She offered to stay until the manager got there so I could go home. I told her no way was I leaving her alone, especially at night. If I knew to do this at 16, then at least one of the adults in that group should’ve known to do that for Morgan.

Only carry bear spray if pepper spray is illegal. Bear spray creates an overwhelming fog that will incapacitate you especially indoors, and it dumps out almost immediately. Pepper spray gives you multiple chances and has a more targeted stream or cone fog. If you want a huge can you can get home defense spray but (like bear spray) it may not be legal to carry in certain places with the intent to defend against humans There are also large cans of regular pepper spray, just not quite bear spray size. Smaller cans are way more realistic as you really need to carry them at ALL TIMES to get the benefit of them

He was in the general surgery, plastics, and transplant ORs most of the time, and I didnt work in those areas often. It’s such a massive OR (29 operating rooms) that you can go weeks without seeing an employee on the same shift as you if they are on a different hall. When I went to second shift (which is what he worked at that time) I saw more of him. There were obviously girls that worked with him more that we creeped out. But the entire staff was collectively shocked when he just stopped showing up. But there are other murders in the area, Lynchburg Va in particular that haven’t been solved. I worked in the car business in the Roanoke area a few years ago. A very nice older lady came in and checked her car in. There were "Help Save the Next Girl" stickers all over it. I double checked the name and it was Morgan's mom. The most chilling thing was their family decals on the rear window of her car. It had a mom, dad, brother, pets and a tombstone that said "Murdered" and gave the date. I'll never forget that.

This makes me sick. I’m so sorry these families have to go through so much pain. The justice system should crack down harsher on people who sexually assault women, men, and children, and also murder. They should be stricter and harsher with punishments. Give them a taste of their own medicine. My heart goes out to the victims and the victims’s families

As a man, I would never try to help a woman (directly at least), especially that young, that drunk and at that time of night. You can find yourself in a lot of trouble for trying to do the right thing. You cannot reason or have a proper conversation with a person who's intoxicated, and they tend to be unpredictable. If he/she can walk, and is old enough to be at the streets at that time of night, then there's no reason to be worried.

When I was young, out socializing with my friends, we never EVER left one of us go anywhere on our own. My best friend and I even went to the ladies room together. We always watched out for one another. One night, a guy I didn't know literally dragged me off the dance floor, past the security guard telling him I was his girlfriend, dragged me into the men's toilets and tried to rape me. My friend had seen what was happening because she always looked out for me, she and my other friends managed to bust in the cubicle door, then the security guy turned up and managed to drag the guy off me before he could rape me. It is a dangerous world ladies. ALWAYS leave TOGETHER and make sure that you ALL get home safely. God bless you all.

My childhood best friend would walk me home every time I left his house and we were neighbors. And we're both dudes but I'm trans and we never know what could happen. The number of times I told him I was fine to walk alone and he would just tell me that he wants to talk a little bit more and that he wanted to take some fresh air. Never made sense to me why he would want to take some fresh air at 2am when we were both falling asleep in front of our video games 2 minutes ago, but after a couple of years have passed, I get it. I know why he didn't want me to walk alone at night, even to walk 4 doors down the street. And I'll always be grateful for that and I'd give my life to save this man.

It's so sad that Hannah had to also lose her life to catch Morgan's killer. I live 30 minutes from UVA and 1 hour from VT. These cases were so similar that right away I felt it had to be a serial killer. Apparently Jesse Matthew had been mentally ill from a very young age, and his occupation gave him an advantage to have contact with intoxicated young ladies. There's still the Rt. 29 killer that hasn't been identified. At any time there are thousands of serial killers active any we are blissfully unaware. At the very least technology had advanced enough between 2009 and 2014 that Hannah's killer was caught on camera. Jill Harrington was supporting the Graham family and all along they'd been murdered by the same monster.

Gil seems like an incredibly strong lady, and I hope her husband, as well as the other deceased girl's parents are doing as well as possible these days and just trying to remember all of the good times they were able to share with their daughters. I certainly hope the "survivor" -- at least physically -- is doing well these days emotionally and mentally. I'm sorry but how can so called "friends" see one of their own in a vulnerable situation and just ignore that. Morgan's friends knew she was locked out, they had her keys, wallet, and still decided that she would be fine finding a way home on her own. Then Hannah's friends can see she is heavily intoxicated and just let her leave on her own. Yes one friend offered a ride, ONE. And she didn't insist. I'm sorry, I know Morgan's parents said not to blame the friends, but I can't imagine one of my friends leaving me in that situation and just going about their business. Those that just watched should feel horrible for being awful friends. People please be careful who you spend your time with, who you choose to be friends with, I could never see a friend in a vulnerable spot and just leave them there. RIP to both Megan and Hannah. I remember seeing him on the news, but I didn’t know he had killed two young women. Young women are so vulnerable and they don’t even realize it. When my daughter turned eighteen she made it clear to me that she was now an adult and didn’t have to abide by my rules. She started running the streets and partying, not coming home some nights. She didn’t understand that I couldn’t control her but I wasn’t going to let her have her way either. I kept close tabs on her and when she didn’t come home I was at the latest group of friends house early the next morning, banging on the door until she answered. She was so mad. Lol! Sorry child, but momma don’t play games when it comes to her babies. She’s forty one now and has a daughter. I can’t wait for her to have her turn dealing with a young adult woman. Lol! Just because you’re eighteen doesn’t mean that you can just run around partying. This is why. My condolences to the families. The worst feeling in the world is not knowing where your child is.

My question is, how come one of her friends didn't run up to one of the doors with security or someone who worked at the venue and drop off her car keys and her money? Then they could just go right back to the concert. I would never let my friend leave without their keys and money. Especially if they knew she had no other way home. I'm not blaming her friends, there's no way they could've known that would happen. But it still doesn't make sense to me. Just run up to the door with someone, and hand her the keys. Or even give it to security to go give to her. What an absolute tragedy man. She was so young and beautiful with her whole life ahead of her...smh.
