I don't think Nathan is the guy to be having this discussion.

I muted Nathan's channel the moment he endorsed SB1047, how is he the best you could come up with for this conversation?

This dude has no idea what "ideological" even means. He calls republicans ideological and says they don't care about ideas in the same sentence. Like, make up your mind dude.

I started following Moment of Zen because it was like listening to a private conversation between silicon valley geniuses. This isn't that. I respect and admire both guests, but I can get this political bench racing literally anywhere else.

Samuel was brilliant & went deep on specific policy details. Nathan had almost no substantive rebuttals whatsoever, which was disappointing, since I think he's a pretty smart guy; he seems to simply be voting based on his primal/tribalistic aversion to Trump & Republicans.

I’m not familiar with either of these guests, and came into this open minded, but Nathan’s arguments to Sam’s well reasoned perspective was as weak as a candle in the wind. He seemed unbelievably partisan with his replies which lacked any meaningful substance.

Eric, please just have Sam on just once so he could speak about the same subject without having to argue with Nathan or some other partisan. The same way you do with the Live Players show with Samo. I was really interested with what he had to say but the conversation was ruined by Nathan just disregarding him and going “IDK, these guys ain’t it.”, over and over again. It was really annoying.

I think Erik just dumps episodes from all his other podcasts on the MoZ feed now. AFICT, MoZ is Erik's project rather than a normal podcast with equally invested co-hosts. I noticed multiple dupes from Econ 102 (another of his podcasts) here a while ago and unsubbed from MoZ (because I don't want dupes and prefer Econ 102). This video is from yet another podcast of his called Cognitive Revolution. I like some of the podcasts Erik has pulled together, but it's real mess with all the cross-promotion.

While Trump is obviously unpredictable, and I find it annoying in some cases at the least, it also can have a value of its own. When countries aren't quite sure how you will react, it can have a deterant effect. Putin didn't invade under Trump for example.

I followed this conversation until Nathan mentioned that "Trump asked his supporters to inject bleach." That never happened. If you are going to call Trump uninformed, don't support that assertion with falsehoods.

nathan is doing his best, ya'll need to chill, let MoZ have episodes like this because we wont know an episode is 🔥 without something to compare to. Also this episode is legit, albeit your point about being able to get this content elsewhere is valid

if "the government" can spend unlimited amounts on war machines in the name of "defence"... it can spend unlimited amounts on medical/healthcare development ALSO in the name of "defence". The money printer is gonna brrrr either way.... why can't we point part of it at our own healthcare system? (why should my mom have to move to Mexico in order to get reasonably priced meds)
@chickenfishhybrid44
@chickenfishhybrid44 3 ай бұрын
We already spend more on healthcare than any other country. Per person, on research, etc. Simply spending more money is not the answer necessarily. We have to change how we spend it/ the system. Is your mom not on Medicare yet? While it can still certainly be cheaper, from what I've seen with my mom's meds, they've basically all been $20 or less. Alot of like $8-$15. I've seen a fair bit since she has cancer and I pick them all up for her. Of course theres a lot of meds out there with a wide range of prices.
