The truth of the matter james is that my country is ruled by a mindless mob. Decades of low quality education has produced these people. it is not a mystery. The rest of the world just sees Los Angeles and Hollywood and think all of America looks like that. No. We are a third world. With a lot of money. And this is the result. It's not a surprise. Look, I hate Trump too, and I was campaigning for Harris, but we must be honest about the rise in cost of living. Yes, the RATE of gouge-flation has gone down, but corporations ARE still gouging, while their costs of production have not risen. The clearest example: items at the Dollar Store are no longer $1, they’re now $1.25. Same for Five Below. Their employee wages are stagnant, but their CEO pay went up. There should be a law tying retailers’ input costs to the prices they charge. But Trump will not pass any law to stop companies from doing this. Kamala at least had a modest proposal. Landlords are also still price-gouging, even though it’s clearly illegal (look up “real page software”). FTC chair Lina Khan is cracking down on them, but Trump will get rid of her before the court case is over.

@@MV-se4di *"Michigan begs to differ"* The votes of the caller's circle of friends, nor the votes in Dearborn, are dispositive in a country of over 300 million. My case is easy to disprove, tho. Check the exit polling and see where 'Gaza' ranks among issues important to voters. Please do cite your findings. Cheers!

Democrats are used to the the horrible things and don't discuss them too much. Republicans are wound up in what he's told them, and one of those is that gas is expensive (it's not) and that Joe Biden and Kamala did it.

Could we not say similar about many walks of life. How many people care enough about speeding drivers (inc themselves) until they are affected by it. On a larger scale, how many care enough about climate change until their own feet are wet, or wars abroad until a loved one is involved etc. Maybe its just the way we are wired and the issue is the belief in an higher ethical dimension. Maybe that belief is simply to make us feel better as a species. The danger is we fail to acknowldge the incongruence as it causes dissonance.

@betford2. As a British person I’m very suspicious of the Supreme Court. Perhaps it’s time to abolish it - the way we abolished The Divine Right of Kings. What’s more , the Democratic Party doesn’t seem to be the Party of the common people. Without the leadership of Sanders and others of his ilk , it seems more like a posh dinner party. Where are the workers ?

We’ve seen this in the states before in Woodrow Wilson. In fact, I may be tempted to call this a neo-wilsonian movement in America. Hopefully I’m misreading the tea leaves, but when you take the race rhetoric, the isolationism, the American exceptionalism and historical revisionism characteristic of Woodrow Wilson’s presidency, at a time when America’s global influenced was less potent than in the modern era, it’s hard to imagine how such a combination of ego and supremacist worldview could be at its most benign destabilizing to global diplomatic and economic cooperation. At worst, history could repeat in a nuclear age.
