@phyzix_phyzixАй бұрын
The problem with tariffs is that it increases costs because paying worker in the US is more expensive. These costs are then passed down to the customer. The problem with not having tariffs is that less jobs are here in the US for workers. Seems like an impossible conflict but if we look a little deeper we notice that both side share a common goal which is to increase the wealth of Americans. One side wants to do it by keeping costs low and the other wants to do it by creating jobs. The wrong assumption here is that without tariffs you can't create new jobs in America. We can achieve both of those things without having to get tariffs involved. The solution is creating new industries in the US where we are first to market. If we achieve this it will create new jobs and keep costs low because tariffs are not increased.

what will your new jobs be based on? the usa is quickly losing its foundation. You'll never be first to market if all the manufacturing talent & knowledge is elsewhere. I study economic policy. Your take is very rational for a layman but does not accurately reflect the reality of how Trump/Biden admins have effected the economy. The cost of living increases have in large parts been due to factors outside of the control of the president, while what the president has done to create inflation (mainly stimulus packages) has been done by both admins. Trump’s economic policy is very irresponsible and deceptive, would recommend reading the wharton (trump’s own school) analysis on it. The short of it is things may improve during his term but at a large future cost. Economic equivalent of giving your child ice cream for breakfast to make them like you then abandoning them once they develop obesity.

An educated and intelligent person seeks the truth, regardless of the source, and only forms an opinion after thorough research and due diligence. For example, you hear Trump say, “tariffs are great!” and take it at face value. But do you realize that after those tariffs were implemented, countries responded with retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.? “The tariffs angered trading partners, who implemented retaliatory tariffs on U.S. goods. In June 2018, India planned to recoup trade penalties of $241 million on $1.2 billion worth of Indian steel and aluminum, but attempted talks delayed these until June 2019 when India imposed retaliatory tariffs on $240 million worth of U.S. goods. Canada imposed matching retaliatory tariffs on July 1, 2018. China implemented retaliatory tariffs equivalent to the $34 billion tariff imposed on it by the U.S.” If you’re unwilling to question what you hear out of fear that it might be wrong, then you should just sit down and shut up. Tariffs are paid by us in the States. So you aren't saving us a dime. And you could start "rebuilding" by bringing back the auto plant you chased out of Warren, Michigan. All those jobs lost...
@bigboyh6424Ай бұрын
This is true on paper, but not true in reality. in reality, the companies pay the terrifs with lower profits. What this assumes is that if there is a 20% terrifs that the company can raise prices 20% without losing market. This is crazy, because the company would already be charging the max amount already. So instead of a 50% margin, they have to take a 30% margin. As a result, prices didn't rise when Trump put terrifs in place. Additionally, inflation didn't happen. What happened in reality, those businesses took lower profits and jobs stayed in the US. This is far more important for national security in many industries to keep business here.

As a former prison guard in Canada, the cost [TO THE PUBLIC] per day to house and feed inmates WAS $175 PER DAY IN 1998. But the following article is a quote. How much does it cost to house a prisoner in Texas? By the numbers: The TDCJ budget For the 2024-25 biennium, TDCJ has an $8.5 billion budget, making it one of the largest state agencies in Texas. The per-inmate cost varies significantly by facility, but it averages to $77.49 per day per inmate.Jun 5, 2024 Therefore what is the cost to house illegal immigrants in Texas? $78.00 per day x 365 days= $28,750 per year x 10,000 illigals= $284,700.00/per year....
