@MFG3333 жыл бұрын
@@cam553 the world is God's creation, as are we. But He has no part in our sin and the hell we create on earth. Christ is our ticket out, the door that opens into the eternal Holy Living Light. That is our true status and it comes by acknowledging Him in obedience when He speaks to us.
@cam5533 жыл бұрын
Michael Groat If we are created, then once again, free will is negated, especially if your god is omniscient. If god is therefore all knowing, whence come free will? What then is sin? Obedience to a book written by men, not god. He does not speak to us. Our ticket out is guaranteed, regardless.
@MFG3333 жыл бұрын
@@cam553 He is your God too, regardless of whether you choose to acknowledge Him and that is your free will choice. What makes you think that an omniscient God would create a being without free will? Is it any less likely that He would create a physical universe, (it DOES exist) than that he would create free will? I think you ask and answer your own question as to the nature of sin, so having your answer, why involve me? Perhaps your CHOICE is why He doesn't speak to you. Would you listen if He did? God speaks to each of us in many ways. One way is through His Spirit that informs and convicts with Truth when we read His words with a willing heart and mind. The Bible is not a rule book written by men. It is a history, past, present and future written for men. Things are not true because they are written there. Things are written there because they are true and that is what each free willed seeker must discover for him or herself. The invisible Spirit of God is in the words written there. But the way to see that Spirit is found through the heart and not the head. Thus, it is eternally important that neither be too hard because our ticket is a one way ride and our physical departure is guaranteed. We all have the same physical destination; but the Spiritual journey only begins at that point. It does not have an end!

Pentecostal groups have only existed for a short time. They have no link with Christ and the Apostles. You are a part of the Church founded by Christ which has remained true to the authentic teaching He gave to us. I would avoid getting into any debates, they can rob us of our peace, and unless someone is asking questions because they want to know more, very often they will not hear or accept anything you say because they are really just out to prove their own point and attack your beliefs rather than discover the truth. God bless you.

Hear, hear!! Trust in the Lord, I have some amazing advice. When you hear a preacher asking you to be a living sacrifice, do not answer that call unless, you are single and have nothing, then you have nothing to lose but confusion of the flesh. It's a gift maker, faith builder, inner voice booster. I've answered the call twice, He took everything both times, including my own children, but THE REWARD IS MORE THAN I CAN EVER DESCRIBE, Jesus told us that we would be able to do such works and better!!! it's there for the taking, but you better be ready for a life of solitude, I mean it's difficult to be around some people when you're walking with God. Peace! God is good, all the time!

Thank you for this talk, and for all your talks Fr Spyridon. They are a great help and inspiration. I've begun listening to them more and more lately. In this talk, you make an absolutely critical point: that we are not in control of the world around us, or even our own lives. Nor are worldly authority figures, nor are the demons. God is in control of the world. God is in control of our lives. Anything that happens falls within the auspices of God's authority, and in order to be humble we must accept this fact and integrate it into our own thinking. This is a fact that I have struggled to accept since converting. Even when something horrible happens, even when we feel as though we have been wronged, God either caused it to happen or permitted it to happen. And He did so for a reason. We may not understand that reason, we could be overcome with anger or grief over whatever it is that happened to us, but God allowed it to happen for a reason. We must remember this.

Everyone suffers from time to time in this life. Simple as that. Worrying about what people think about us while doing so could lead us later to embellish onto the facts of the past and onto the facts of the present while limiting our joy felt in our daily life only in hopes that will finally heal our own suffering so that later we may never grieve about the same loss ever again. That cannot prevent feeling grief again from time to time over a terrible loss. Of course what would be worse than that is getting angry at god instead and then forgetting about him altogether when choosing for the rest of our lives to continue lying around most of the time only to be festering in our own sins. Everyone has committed sins in their outward behavior except for 2 human beings since the beginning of time who knew best better than any of us with the help of their parents and then later only with their heavenly father's help on how to cope with temptation.

Is this guy talking to Orthodox Christians or is he talking to the general public? He says we need to morn for our sins. Ok but my understanding of Orthodoxy is that there is no salvation outside the Orthodox Church. The sacrament of confession is not efficacious to anyone who is not Orthodox. Repentance and confession only has application to those who belong to Christ through the Orthodox Church. So maybe this should be clarified. Because your repentance of sins has no power to you unless your confession is made to a Preist in the Orthodox Church. The general public is not welcome to repent. I just think this point should be made.
@jcroobug4 жыл бұрын
Randy your understanding of the Orthodox Church is not accurate based on what I've learned. I'm a recent convert to Orthodoxy after many years of wandering in other Western churches and I was told by my priest that the Orthodox Church does not assume to know where the Holy Spirit travels. In other words, the Church does not proclaim it knows who is saved and who is not (that's the Roman Catholic Church). Rather the Orthodox Church believes that it is the one true Church that Jesus Christ founded at Pentecost and that all seven Sacraments from Holy Scripture should be observed, of which confession to an ordained Priest is one. Seek out an Orthodox Priest and find out more! Many Blessings.
@tuffguytofiles4 жыл бұрын

You can always pray to God with repentance asking humbly for his pardon. The penitent thief confessed to Christ and was with our lord in paradise. The lord works in mysterious ways. We should always seek proper initiation into the orthodox church, but perhaps the lord takes mercy on those who have not had the time to be baptised, confess to a priest, etc. It is vanity to say we can think as God does.
@browngoat9334 жыл бұрын
Forgive me Randy. The thief on the cross was baptized in his own blood, and it was Jesus Christ the Savior himself who promised him that he would be with Christ in Paradise. The Holy Spirit draws many people to Christ. You could say it's the wrong people. The Roman centurion, part of the army of the oppressors, to whom Christ said I have not found such faith even in Israel. To the Samaritan woman, to the naked deranged demoniac, what faith did he have? And in the presence of Christ he is clothed, set free, in his right mind, and seated at the feet of Christ. All of these are drawn to Christ the savior by the Holy Spirit.

The contradictions and paradoxes of religion are the road to madness. We only live once and that is ample. The tax for living is the burden of existence and suffering. There is nothing further to pay. If we choose to help others in this one and only life, and we do so without expectation or reward, then we are already doing the work of some mythical god. God is nowhere to be found. In other words, if you want a life where you help others, then do so. It doesn’t matter what you believe, but you may find those deeds rewarding, and nobody can take your dopamine hit away. There are no real mistakes because each of us is just a tiny snippet of the Big Bang playing out. Whatever we do in our lives has actually already happened, so don’t fall into the free will trap. We didn’t design our genes or neurotransmitters. We don’t choose our thoughts. Can you decide how many white blood cells your body will produce today? Think about it, because the answer applies to ever aspect of your very existence.

Your entire reddit-tier atheistic "argument" presupposes and necessitates God for any of that woke drivel to even be a semi-cohesive, albeit nonsensical and untenable, thought. Read Fr. Seraphim Rose on Nihilism.

@@ephraimtheendtimessojourner how does anything I say presuppose or necessitate god? Everything I say ‘replaces’ god and religion and explains why they are unnecessary. The point is to live ones life as though there is no god since there clearly is no personal one. To help others if you choose because you feel it is the correct thing to do. To live ‘authentically’ is my message. Read up on determinism and behavioural biology. Prof. Robert Sapolsky and Jerry Coyne. Einstein never believed in a personal god. This is not new or woke stuff. I’m too old for that nonsense.

If there is no God as you say and it doesn't really matter what we choose in life, why should I have compassion for a fellow human? All I should be afraid of is the law, to not be caught and be sentenced to jail. But if I can avoid that, then why not kill, steal, rape and basically follow anything I desire? What difference will it make to be a good person instead of a bad one if all of this doesn't matter because.... big bang BS? God teaches us what love is and what it takes to live in righteousness. Without God, this wouldn't be a thing. Because as humans, we are consumed by our ego. It's all about us. But when God comes into the equation, it ALL makes sense. Stop following modern philosophy nonsense and seek elsewhere for answers. Good luck.

@@razor4921 You speak from a book written by men yet somehow in the name of god. There is no book written by god. There is mankind and there is the choice to live harmoniously for the betterment of all. Why is god required? God does not stop crime. We don’t need god for ethics and never did. I can’t see your point at all. What good is punishing the dead? Is your god not omniscient and omnipotent? Then tell me, what is even sin?
