The story you didn't understand was if you were told if you kill your clan you will protect the village and save many lives. If you don't kill your clan, your clan will be wiped out anyway, but the village will have many lives lost, and other villages will take advantage and kill even more. What do you do? The view is you look for the alternative to these two outcomes. But if both sides refuse to look at an alternative to fighting, then you are forced to commit to the lesser of two evils. Sasuke now feels that he must destroy the village because of what the village has made Itachi do. Sasuke's love for Itatchi because of the truth makes him vow vengeance against the village. If the village had acknowledged what Itachi had done, and made him out as a hero, then Sasuke would grow up without the hatred for Itachi. So instead, the village made Itachi as a villian after he saved so many of the lives of the village. This cannot go unpunished. Sasuke has now taken it upon himself to be the judge, jury, and executioner of justice for Itachi.

I'm not a Sasuke hater, I'm not a Sasuke lover (except in Boruto), but for some reason his reaction is understandable. I know people saying he should continues Itachi's will, but others see the point that Madara highlighted: the leaders exploited Itachi's kindness so they don't deserve to be saved. It's a matter of how you see things rationally or emotionally. Sasuke is a sensitive guy like most of the Uchihas.

You came to the conclusion that Sasuke wants to destroy the hidden leaf because he hates Itachi still and what he stood for? No. Sasuke was crying in that scene because he feels indignation and sorrow at the loss of his brother who loved him all along. The way Sasuke sees things, the elders screwed his brother and clan over in favor of the village and it now takes the place of Sasuke's hatred. He didn't get revenge for his clan. The people who ruined his life are still out there for him. I agree that you have to consider the village's well-being in the face of insurrection, but it's a big ask of someone so young and also so close to the issue. Itachi's background and maturity allowed him to process things more objectively, but Sasuke doesn't have that.

Itachi loved Sasuke more than the entire village. His threat was if Sasuke dies or is told about this secret, he releases Intel to enemy nations. That would ABSOLUTELY cause a war and kill TENS OF THOUSANDS. But it protected sasuke so he was ok with that. Sasuke lived nearly his entire life focusing ALL his hate on Itachi, but when the truth was revealed that hate turned back to love and he refocused his hate on the leaf. Sasuke loves Itachi more than anything else, so it doesn't matter Itachi sacrificed so much for the village. The village is evil for making him do that, therefore it should be destroyed. Just because Itachi did something doesn't mean it was right.

In the novels itachi doesn’t murder his lover in cold blood. he puts her under a genjutsu that plays out them getting married and living their lives together and the genjutsu is so strong she dies of old age and happeneds all in a split second.

If we were to relate this to the real world and let’s say I was in Sasuke’s position, I couldn’t live the rest of my life knowing my brother was taken advantage of. I honestly wouldn’t go as far as destroy the hidden leaf, I don’t think that’s okay but I would definitely get those elders and Danzo what they deserve because I do have actual information on them for being responsible. This is the moment that Itachi became my favorite character in the entire show and he is in my top 5 favorite characters in all of anime for what he stood for. I truly respect his humbleness too! I wouldn’t say Sasuke killed Itachi, he basically committed suicide himself

The Leaf was the reason why Itachi suffered and Sasuke's whole clan is dead, for him everything that mattered in life was taken away from him so other people can live in ignorant peace, talking ill of Itachi, of course he's gonna be full of hatred, Sasuke was living a lie his whole life, he even lost will to live after killing Itachi and now he knows the reason for all the sufferings he went through and even more - the sufferings his dear brother went through. Just because Itachi's life was wasted for that goal doesn't mean Sasuke should follow in it blindly, for him that's even more of a reason to fight against it. The Uchiha love stronger than anything else. Almost in an unhealthy manner. Like in real life, when people finally lose the one thing that holds them together, the one thing that gives their life meaning, they go off the rails. They destroy everything in their path. Very true to life. It’s also literally in an Uchiha’s DNA to steer towards hatred and destruction. That’s how they get stronger. It’s very difficult to fight nature.

The only reason I believe Madara told Sasuke the truth about Itachi was so he could sway Sasuke's feelings. Itachi wanted all the blame directed towards him for slaughtering the Uchiha clan since he still had feelings towards the Hidden Leaf. I think the timing for this reveal was carefully calculated by Madara so it could make it easier for him to capture Naruto.

Sasuke thinks that the higher ups of the hidden leaf had manipulated and peer pressured itachi into doing what he did, he knew it was partly what he wanted but they made him go the extra mile, and also sasuke isn’t just doing this for itachi he’s doing it for the rest of the clan too, but of course it was all itachi’s decision but sasuke can’t seem to believe that. Edit: also i don’t think he’d go back to the leaf all nonchalantly knowing that danzo and some of the higher ups are in the village.

Sasuke's conclusion is natural. Although Itachi wanted different its because of the village why he lost his parents his brother and his way of life. Its natural to want to kill or destroy them, its because if them why his big brother had to suffer and live how he did. Sasuke's conclusion is that no matter how well-intentioned Itachi's plan was, the fact remains that the Leaf manipulated him into committing genocide against his own clan. He bought so hard into what the Leaf told him that he allowed himself to be their patsy and destroy not only his own life but also Sasuke's and all Uchiha. Sasuke does not believe that Itachi made the right choices, and he believes that the Leaf coerced him into making those choices. So basically: he's spent his entire life trying to avenge the wrongs done to him and his people, but he was tricked into hating and killing his own brother, and the REAL culprits behind all of his trauma and hatred are still out there, getting away with it. Sasuke doesn't care that Itachi wanted them to get away with it. If someone you loved betrayed you and made you hate them so much you murdered them, and then you found out that they only betrayed you because someone else persuaded them to do it in the first place, you might have to reevaluate everything you thought you knew and decide to blame the people actually responsible and hold them accountable for what they did.

For Sasuke's entire life he's lived for vengeance against his brother because to him, Itachi was pure evil and had slaughtered his entire clan. Now Sasuke finds out that not only was Itachi a good guy, but that the leaf village is the one who ordered the extermination of his clan, orderd him to do it, and had basically set up the circumstances that necessitated the extermination in the first place. Add on to that the concept of Sasuke being more important to Itachi than the Village, and bingo, new target for revenge. Basically, to Sasuke the leaf village responsible for utterly and completely ruining his life.

So here are a few things for you to think about regarding the episode/Itachi/Sasuke's decision: You could look at it from Sasuke's perspective as well. The coin has two sides. He was literally 6 years old when he brutally lost every person that meant something to him. He has ptsd. He's traumatized for life. Then, after all these years he discovers that he killed the "wrong" guy. Why would he even care about what Itachi want/didn't want him to do? As he sees it, the leaf village basically murdered his entire clan (which is really what happened tbh...) Yeah, Itachi might have agreed to cooperate with the village. So what? Sasuke doesn't care about that- he's just angry at the leaf for all the things they did to his family. Moreover, he thinks that they made Itachi do it (which they basically did, Itachi didn't have a real choice here...) You could say "But they did it to protect the leaf, to prevent a world war". Okay. So what? The answer to that is that maybe the leaf isn't worth preserving if it means you have to slaughter innocent children for that. Sasuke loves his family and friends so much, to him they're more precious than the village. Also you gotta remember that he's just 16 years old at this point. Kids are kids, and sometimes they do foolish things. I'm not saying that Sasuke is right here, just to be clear, and I think that if he will try to harm the village/kill people he should be punished- but I can totally understand him... Off course, the smart thing would be to just "let" it all go, but it's not an easy thing to do for anyone- let alone a 16 year old teenager with ptsd... Again, just to be clear- I think that Sasuke's decision is totally wrong. I think that if he harms people or do any other kind of crimes he should be punished, But having said that- I can see where he's coming from, I can totally sympathize with him- especially as a fictional character in a story.

I mean if you hate who Sasuke is, blame Itachi. He's the one that made him obsessed with revenge by mind fucking him twice for hours on hours on end. Got to remember that this is a kid who only ever knew one thing in his formative years of life, and that is revenge, having it drilled into him since childhood. All Sasuke knows is revenge, that's how he handles his problem because that's all he understands to begin with. Itachi gave up his life for the leaf and lived a truly horrific life because of the situation he was forced into by the leaf village. While he made his choice it's the faults of the village that caused the need for that horrible choice. While the Uchiha wanted to make a coup(for one they wanted a bloodless one) they only did so after generations of oppression, so again, still largely the leaf's fault even if they made an extreme solution. Sasuke hated Itachi for killing his family. Now it turns out it's actually the leaf that butchered them, therefore Sasuke wants to kill the leaf. It's incredibly logically sound to be honest, and realistically, with the type of person Sasuke is, as mentioned before because of Itachi, it was the only logical answer. Especially since he's so mentally unstable right now since he just had his entire world view collapse in on itself to the point that his morality and life is built off of a lie. Without exaggeration. If he took that well it wouldn't make any sense in the writing, and the beautiful thing about it, is that it was Itachi's actions that created the monster that wants to destroy the leaf. Not because he left him alive, but because what he did to him after leaving him alive.

Everyone seems to get confused as to why Sasuke made the decisions he did and reached the conclusions he reached about things, but that's because everyone is thinking about it logically, rather then putting themselves into his shoes. His conclusions don't make sense because he's been traumatized and messed up to the point that he can no longer think clearly or logically. His viewpoint has been twisted to a point where his brain just doesn't operate the way an ordinary persons would. Think about it, everyone he loved and cared about was killed, by his own brother no less, when he was only 8 years old. Not only is that a far more traumatic experience then most people ever have in their lifetimes, but it's also a proven fact that children, on average, are way more vulnerable to the mental effects of traumatic experiences then adults are, so for something like that to happen when he was so young, it should not be hard to see why he would be mentally unstable enough to reach wild conclusions. You don't have to like him and obviously you don't have to agree with his decisions, but you wouldn't sit around wondering why some dude in an insane asylum is sitting around talking to someone who isn't there. It's the same situation with Sasuke. He is mentally unstable, so it's not hard to see how he could interperet things in such a flawed way.

To this day I don't like sasukes character but I agree with him on this don't forget the uchiha massacre was less than 10 years ago in the anime most of those people are alive and well living with the atrocity they pushed on itachi. The foundation is thriving the counselors are living their best lives and all of the hidden leaf never questioned anything about the massacre they accepted propaganda about the uchiha and were very hateful of them all that was done by what the 2nd hokage did as well that not even the worst this the leaf did imo but you'll find that out later.

Why did Itachi rarely spend time with Sasuke? because even s=when he was four years old, he had to deal with the Uchiha clan's discontent with the village and their growing desire to take it over. Itachi was the tool the clan used to try to get the village's secrets

Alot of people may get Sasuke's awakening of his Mangekyo wrong depending on how you feel it happens. Re-watch the scene or read the manga either way the wording is important. Itachi for a reason I can't explain atm wanted to free Sasuke of the curse mark. The whole battle was to achieve this. Now as for what causes him to awaken the Mangekyo. We see him use it at the end of this episode. Is this the moment it was awakened or had that already happen before. That isn't clear. Normally when someone advances the Sharingan it literally activates at that moment as the conditions are met. That did not happen during the fight, however it could have and was not shown to us when he passed out at the end of that episode. It's more than a little possible that its activation with his chakra nearly completely gone had a hand in him passing out. The issue with that is the condition for it to activate had not been met. Two "died" during that fight, Orochimaru when Itachi defeated him, and Itachi himself when he dropped dead. Neither of them could be considered close friends let alone closest friends. Itachi was his brother but at that moment the sorrow needed while taking some ones life who was close to you is not what Sasuke was feeling. I personally don't think either death at the end of the fight meets the condtion for the Mangekyo to awaken. Unless you can kill or greatest enemy as well, in which case why not do that over killing a good friend. I think the change in Sasuke's understanding of Itachi through this conversation did make him feel that sorrow and regret for what had happened. I think this shift puts Itachi finally into a place in Sasuke's heart and mind that allows his Mangekyo to awaken. In my opinion the moment we see it for the first time was the first activation as he cried. He does use Amaterasu beforehand however, that was not his jutsu it was Itachi's. It was a single time cast of Itachi's jutsu that was set through genjutsu to activate upon a specific condition being met. It is clearly Itachi's pattern and not Sasuke's that is used to cast it. Would like to hear yours or other opinion of how this takes place. Been 15 years ish I think now since I first read this and this is simply how I came to terms with him getting this new ability.

Sasuke joined up with oro cuz 1. Itachi had etched deep hatred in Sasuke that resulted in darkness. Trauma and hate and all. Dark stuff. 2. Sasuke has superiority complex. When he saw that doofuses and non genius people like Naruto are doing better than him, he decided to use different means to suit his needs/goals. Itachi's half of the plans honestly don't work out a lot.
