The reasoning for Blackbeard’s otaku and creepiness is actually really cool. So, the reason why Blackbeard acts like that(other than genuinely being an otaku) is to purposely repulse and freak out others. The reason for this is because he couldn’t scare or intimidate anyone in Chaldea because there are literal gods, demons, monsters, and heroes in Chaldea so he had to figure out a new way to intimidate people

There is also the fact that historically, Blackbeard wasn't a ruthless monster or a bloodthirsty savage, he saw piracy as a business, focusing on intimidation tactics and purposefully leaving people alive in order to increase his fame and reputation. The reason he is the face of piracy is because he was that good at marketing himself.

To elaborate on the Don Quixote thing: the original novel is actually set several centuries after the time of what we'd think of as traditional knights. It focuses on an old man who's read too many books about chivalry and now believes himself to be a knight because he's going senile. The windmill thing specifically refers to an early scene where he sees a windmill, mistakes it for a giant, and almost seriously injures himself trying to fight it.

The whole book is about this noble old man going on adventures with his trusty "squire" until he finally returns back to his state and, being old and frail, falls ill and must come to terms with reality. It's a sad conclusion, but one that he faces on his deathbed as he draws his final breath. Don Quijote in Fate/Grand Order actually becomes weaker, lore wise, at least, the more he ascends, as his ascensions represent him opening the curtains of reality, but this isn't depicted as a bad thing. The game treats it as something good. By rejecting his fantasy, he can achieve many more wonderful things. I like this interpretation of the character. They did him justice.

Yeah, this, to the Greek, was the origin of Ursa Minor and Ursa Major. So... yeah, turning their lover into a bear so they won't flirt is totally something the Greek gods would do as well... Orion was also turned into a constellation, but as himself, and that after Artemis herself accidentaly shot him due to her brother tricking her (Artemis had a vow of chastity going and Apollo didn't want Orion to ruin that, so he arranged his death).

Major clarification: The reason why Voyager depicted as little boy is because of his Master's subconscious influence, Erice. Voyager acquired a Saint Graph equal to a human in order to properly communicate with his Master thus basing his appearance to Erice's preferences and likes. Erice loved the book Little Prince and and owns a pair of aviator googles and a replica toy of the airplane which its author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry flew (which explains why Voyager has aviator look in one of his ascensions). Basically Voyager pulled the same thing Nursery Rhyme did.

It’s rather implied in FGO that Saber is, in fact, not the “correct” class for Caesar to be summoned into, and iirc, that it’s implied he would be more closer to his historical depiction if he was summoned as a Rider. If I’m remembering things right from Caesar himself in-game at one point, he notes that while he knew how to use a sword, he wasn’t exactly a master swordsmen, and his skills are typically in leadership.

This doesn’t tend to fit Caesar himself, or most historical rulers, really, especially if they had lofty ambitions. The class is also typically associated with Saints and Christianity, although to be fair, this aspect was a bit muddled over time as more were introduced.

Some clarification of Julius Caesar: The reason why he's chubby is because it was a famous practice for his people to stuff themselves and store fight for a battle, because they would be able to burn that energy over longer campaigns. A version of him exists that is fit, but he is a Rider

It's also because his sword "Crocea Mors" was made famous for its use by Nennius of Britain, a folk hero who was "present" and "repelled" the Roman Invasion of the British Isles. However, it's still "Julius Caesar's Sword", so he "qualifies" as its owner. So his Saber Saint Graph is drawing upon the common perception of "the Decadence of Rome" to "stabalize" Caesar as a Saber

The thing with Don Quixote is that the entire point of the first book is that he’s fucking insane. He was a random old peasant in 17th century Spain that became so obsessed with the fantasy books he read that he convinced himself they were real and that he was a knight and began a delusional adventure which typically went: Step 1) See a thing, Step 2) Distort that thing in his imagination until it fits his delusion, 3) Completely ignore the pleading of his friend and “squire” Pancho to not do the crazy thing he’s about to do, 4) Get his ass kicked. The windmill thing was basically him seeing a bunch of windmills, convincing himself they were giants with massive arms and then being knocked unconscious after being hit in the head by one.

Just so you know, Katsushika Hokusai kinda invented tentacle porn. His painting known as _The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife_ (circa 1814) is the first ever image depicting said tentacle porn. This work was apparently so inspiring that even Pablo Picasso made his own tentacle porn painting privately, _Dona i Pop._ The reason why his daughter shows up was because she used to paint under her father's name, before striking out on her own as an independent artist. FGO-events are just a rollercoaster of both comedy and serious moments. A far cry from the first event which was just "oh, someone stole our dumplings for the moon-viewing festival! Oh, would you look at that, it was a goddess of the moon"

Well, the thing about Voyager, is it's still alive. It will actually "die" and stop transmitting any signal in 2025. The story he's from Fate/Requiem, is set in the future.

Part of the reason why Voyager is summonable though is because he's a "Pioneer of the Stars", people (or in this case objects) who embody and/or performed huge leaps in regards to human civilization, like Francis Drake, being the first (named) captain to circumnavigate the world, Leonardo Da Vinci, embodying the geniuses of the Renaissance and the coming age of wisdom, Nikola Tesla, "taming" electricity and making it useable for humanity, even Neil Armstrong counts, for being the first person to set foot on extra-terrestrial ground. The reason that's important is because usually, people from after around WW1 don't have the "mystery" associated with them to enter the Throne of Heroes, mystery being the basis for all things magic in Fate and its associated works. The only ones who get an exception to that are Pioneers of the Stars and... those who enter the Throne through other means.

@@littlekuribohimposte tbf, the "has to be dead" has NEVER been an actual qualifier for being summonable, it's only for actual historical people that's a rule for, and that for more real life reasons. The Throne exists outside of time, so as long as someone dies eventually to get registered in the Throne, them being dead at the moment or not doesn't matter. Major Spoilers below! After all, that's literally the plot of Unlimited Blade Work, despite Shirou still being alive, a future version of himself gets summoned. And it also happens in Strange Fake, Prelati literally summons him... her...? Himself, and while you could argue his original body is dead, her soul definitely isn't, and that's what the Throne of Heroes cares about after all. Even in Samurai Remnant, granted that's a bit more of a weird case, a slightly seperate category, Li Shuwen gets summoned... despite not even being born yet by the time Samurai Remnant is set! Granted, it is usually harder to summon someone from the future, because you generally need a catalyst, and of course it's hard to get your hands on a catalyst to summon someone from the future, without a catalyst you'd at best have a small chance to summon someone, based more on a Masters personality. But yeah, "being currently dead" is technically not a hard rule for a Heroic Spirit to get summoned.

So I heard this through a fate Reddit or KZbin comment but I always make sure to spread it but the reason Blackbeard acts like a super creep is because he knows that he is just a simple pirate. That’s it and if you compare him to Odysseus, Arjuna alter and many of the other heroes they all have feats that literally changed history and such. So to freak out his opponents and make it hard to get a read on him he purposely goes overdrive on the creep stuff and just prays that his opponents are too freaked out to act while he then attacks them.

Voyager is amongst the most my favorite servants!! Technically he's amongst the weakest Foreigners because, not only is he human made but he's a rather recent addition to the list. Nobody knew who this tiny boy was when he originally released (he's a light novel character) until he arrived to the mobile game! But the Little prince was always a guess based on his design. What makes him so special, and also why he's a servant despite how recent he is... Is that he's literally the embodiment of humanity's wishes to explore and know the beyond. He is the personification of the purity of curiosity and the yearning to meet someone else beyond ourselves... In his world, the idea of "him" has outlived humanity and came back as a spirit to know the people of the world he represents with childlike wonder. This space probe is my son and I love him thank you very much 😭😭😭 Fun fact: Paul Bunyan actually has the fastest NP to this day

another fun fact: in the original story, Mr hyde WAS NOT a monster, and in fact it's not even suggested to even be another persoality at all until towards the end of the story. In fact, mr hyde is described as looking jsut like...A GUY, but somethign about him makes people isntantly predisposed to disliking him. that's the ONlY weird thing about him. In the original story, Dr jekyll basically was SO sick of holding himself back he would turn into mr hyde to absically run around and VENT, to let go of himself and indulge in his hidden desires (whicha re never stated directly so it could be anything).He only STOPS being mr hyde when he murders a man in a rage and then loses it when he finds hismelf transforming into Mr Hyde without drining the potion (its here that its suggested he starts developing a split personalty, likely from trying to disassociate from his crimes). he eventually kills himself after writing a letter revealing what he did. So yeah the most famous things about him (evil split personality that manifests as an evil monster)? not even in the original story. It's mostly a cautionary tale about repression and indulgence. He indulged too much and killed someone, but then repressed so much that what he was trying to repress would come out regardless of what he wanted. it was not about a scientist who made a magic good evil potion, it's more nuanced than that. So yeah that's probably why he just...looks like a dude. cause...that's how he looked in the story. just...a dude.

Funny thing Nico mentions Hyde being a monster because his Assassin form has some of Hyde's abilities mixed in, so Jekyll himself can fight a bit while Hyde becomes a batshit crazy guy with gear. However if Jekyll is a Berserker, which he was summoned as in Fate Proto Fragments, his Jekyll form is still highly intelligent but is so weak he can pass on as a regular human that he cant be detected by a servant, but once he turns to Hyde he becomes some hyper regenerating werewolf that face tanked an Excalibur with absolutely no wounds.

Fun fact with Paul Bunyan's Noble Phantasm, just like in Samurai Remnant you can't skip NP animations so when the time came to add Paul Bunyan from the FGO gag manga to FGO, the manga's artist Riyo who plays the game requested her NP be as fast as posable. In an anime original scene of the anime adaptation of the gag manga Bunyan goes on a rampage and tries to kill Riyo (Personified as the FGO protagonist) cus she's mad her NP animation sucks.

So... Sherlock's NP in particular is really interesting in what it's supposed to do in world and not in game. Effectively... he's a walking Dues Ex Machina. His NP allows him to take a look at any given scenario, whether it's solving a puzzle, finding and object, or defeating a monster, his NP will go out of it's way to not actually give the real answer, but to MAKE and answer that those present and assisting with the situation can use to solve it. An example given in the game itself is say you and some others are trying to open a chest. Nothing you have at the current moment will open it, and there is no key in sight. If he were to use his NP, he would not learn of the actual location of the real key, instead ,it would MAKE a key in a location accessible to those present. You would still need to go get it, but it would create said solution for you. Another example would be if you were fighting a monster that was truly and utterly invincible. Nothing you had on you could defeat this thing. His NP would not reveal it's real weakness (if it had any to begin with) but CREATE a weakness that you or others with you could exploit. You would still likely have to go through several steps to do so, but you and those present could actually deal with it now. It's an insane ability that re-writes teh world for the sake of creating an answer, and I love it. P.S. if you ever want to play another fate game that isn't one of the visual novels in the future, Fate Extra is pretty decent PsP title that leads into the Extella games and it's own sequel that got a really nice fan translation recently

That second to last one had me AWED The first picture, with the space theme and mock NASA logo, had me thinking like Nico for a bit, that it might be a well know astronaut. But the second dispelled that, since it completely loses that in favor of a simpler design, with a bigger focus on the childlike nature However the third, now THAT hit me hard, the aviator goggles, as well as the Baobab trees in the background!!! @@BlaxeFrost-X Honestly, with a few summaries to fill for context, the part the animes skip aren't really a big problem. Could also go for the manga-adaptions though, the one covering the odd-numbered chapters should be done with the 5th chapter, from what I recall seeing. The one covering even chapters was on hiatus for some time and is still just around the 2nd chapter, so that's a bit of a problem... But overall, I'm pretty sure both of them also fix some of the issues the early chapters had, so that's a plus.

As for the Thomas Eddison movie stuff yes Tomas Eddison created the camera and was one of the first filmmakers and made a significant developments on the camera and in fact hollywood is what it is today because people wanted to get away from Eddison because he had such a strong hand in the industry (they also wanted to go somewhere with better lighting as well but that's just another semantics.) Overall he wasn't the best filmmaker and during the time he charged a lot to see films but he is considered one of the founding fathers due to his developments of the camera (This has been film facts with Emerald).

Heres the thing about Blackbeard though. His "creepiness" and otaku-ness was used to essentially remove any kind of attention on him, he knows he's up against Gods and Aliens so he figured that a pirate like him wouldn't do crap against them, so to avoid confrontation, he paints himself as a worthless individual not worth anyone's time. This was in essense, Blackbeard's character, a cunning man who makes do with his situation. These were some interesting choices! I want to say a little bit about Nobunaga real quick. The adult form that you were shown is actually pretty unique. Their overall gender is listed as unknown and each of her 3 ascensions are essentially different versions. The first is the same design as the other two versions you saw, the second ascension is a male version, and the third one is that womanly adult form you saw.

So idk how much your friends explained the NPs to you off cam, but Moriarty's is also kinda hilarious in context. To break it down somewhat simply, his section of story is filled with servants that are either partially or entirely fused together tales(i.e. headless horseman got fused with a giant named wolf) in Moriarty's case, he's fused with a german tale of a hunter who gained 7 magic bullets in a deal with a demon. The first 6 would always hit their mark, and the last would hit something he held dear. Now Moriarty was working with a demon god from the previous story section to try and kill the MC. So they abuse the story he's fused with, first splitting Moriarty's personality into a good and bad Moriarty, to make him care dearly for the MC, and then they MAKE A WHOLE BUILDING IN THE SHAPE OF A GUN BARREL all in order to use an asteroid/meteor as the 7th bullet to try and kill the MC and destroy the earth. TL:DR he literally tried to use an asteroid to kill the MC at one point in the story, and obviously failed.

The interesting thing about Jekyll and Hyde is that in his original appearance in a different Fate entry, he actually does turn into a monster whenever he swaps into Hyde. Paul Bunyan's noble phantasm actually is that short because Nasu (the guy behind Fate) insists on not letting the game have a skip button for battle animations (which makes repetitive farming for items...well, not fast), and Bunyan's character artist more or less went "Well fuck you too" and gave her the shortest NP animation possible. She's not really viable for farming these days after years of power creep, but it's the thought that counts.

So, the Thomas Edison thing is technically incorrect: it is ONLY when he appears in the American Singularity is he fused with every U.S. President, outside of his appearance there it is stated to JUST be Thomas Edison, it is only due to the circumstances in the American Singularity that he did that to become more powerful to fight off the singularity's antagonists. Also from his source media, Fate/Requiem Voyager is NOT mixed with The Little Prince, he's a little boy since it's the HUMAN Throne of Heroes, which turns things into more humanoid appearances that usually aren't. Additional fun facto: Lore-wise his class is not actually Foreigner, he's only Foreigner in FGO since they developers didn't want to add a new class for only him (and possibly astronauts and what not), his actual class is the Voyager Class.

Not all Servants are humaniod, such as Pale Rider, Humbaba, and Watcher from Strange Fake, or the usual form of Kijyo Koyo from the same event/source as Voyager. 99% of Servants are humanoid, because most non-humaniod things dont form enough of a legend of their own to become a Servant, i.e. Lobo, who is a Phantom Spirit. Voyager just took the form of the Little Prince for easier communication with his Master.

@NoxarBoi The Human Throne of Heroes is an actual lore thing that's been brought up mostly in context with Shuten actually, was mentioned in an event, though I forget which one (pretty sure its also been used in reference to Red Hare since the Horse didnt look like that at all in life and is confirmed not to actually be Lu Bu or have him mixed in there). But no, Voyager was SPECULATED to be The Little Prince in and out of the universe, but that was deemed incorrect. From what I remember of reading, Requiem, it's never stated he actually has them as a part of his Spirit Origin. But yes, Lobo is pure fiction in Fate/ unlike some others that are historical in Fate/'s world. Albeit he's mixed with the Invisible Man and the Headless Horseman, hence why his true name is Hessian-Lobo: he got a human with him so he himself does not change as he's sort of being used as a mount.. Koyo lorewise lived as her humanoid self but looked like a T-Rex since she got enamored by a skeleton of one she found. Watcher's true form, despite what the TM Wiki seems to imply, is confirmed NOT to be the giant whale. That's just Moby Dick as one of her many shadows. Humbaba is made of nearly 3,000 children souls and was made by the gods of Mesopotamia to be a "complete human being" in all tense and purposes: Humbaba is considered human despite being monstrous... Pale Rider isn't the one from the actual book of revelations but a conceptual servant of disease and sickness. He's a shadow that abstractly looks human shaped, riding the wind ,humanity, and the world itself. it's weird and inconsistent. I won't lie. A lot of this series is, since despite my ramblings I agree with you on some of these things but since it was mentioned we summon Servants from the Human Throne of Heroes, things that aren't humanoid take on semblance of the appearance of a human even if vaguely... it's why a space probe, an apple, an explosion, a city, and the concept of fairy tales take on human appearances with the very latter's case lore-wise specifically taking on the appearance of their Master as a child (well, when their memories of a certain character aren't popping up anyways).

Their origin is from a long running web comic Learning with Manga (where Oda is from originally) about FGO where the creator always complains about NP being unskippable. Long story short Nemo’s master who is a major supporting character of the FGO lostbelt arc cast has a particular magical ability that allows her to compartmentalize her brain in order to multi task. Due to their master servant relationship Nemo has inherited this ability and use literally compartmentalize his body creating the “Nemo Series” to serve all the roles necessary to manage a submarine. Also this particular summoning of Nemo is not just Nemo, this Nemo also has the name and powers of the Greek god Triton son of Poseidon which explains when Nemo has a conch shell staff and blue hair highlights.

About the story of Don Quijote de la Mancha, he was actually just an old man who really loved Knight stories, so much so he tried to become a knight. Like, specifically Servants whose identity isn't much of a secret even in the story they originally appeared in, pretty sure Robin Hood would've been one of those, and I think many of the Servants in Apocrypha also reveal their true name very early on, I think there's a scene where the entire Black Faction just reveals their True Names to each other, except for Saber because his Master blocks him, and even then, I don't think it takes that long after. Jeanne also pretty much just throws her name right out there. Granted I'd still consider Saber of Reds identity a big spoiler even though it's also quite early on, but that's mostly due to ties to other stories in the Franchise.

Yeah there's some weird specific shit even within fate's brand of turning stuff more anime. Caesar looks like that because the saber class sucks for him and he would apparently look more like you'd expect as a Rider. There's also Jack the Ripper since no one knows who they really are they show up in different forms for each class (the initial being very anime bullshit, while another being a noble gentleman just mentioned as an appearance that "felt right" to a third version of Jack but not having an official servant yet, the third one is...weird in how they work so I'm not gonna explain cause if you do the animes you'll probably run into them.)

here's a PROPER, full expanation about Don Quixote: Don Quixote was an old, lonely noble who spent a LONG time reading books. eventually something happened and he decided to become a knight and go on an adventure to 'rescue a princess', so he grabbed random old armour he had and a horse and took along either a random poor guy or jsut some poor guy who worked for him, Sancho, and he went on silly, comedic adventures where he thought evrything in his comletly ordinary, ''modern day' (for the time) spain was some sort of fantasy thing. He wsn't ORDERED to go anywhere or do anything, this was somethig he randomly decided on his own that he thought was reality. But yah the most famous part of the story is how he, at the apex of whatever the fuck is going on with him, decides 1) that a bunch of windmills are giants and 2) they kidnapped the princess he made up in his mind, leadng him to unsusccessfully attac them. Techically this DOES mean his companion is TECHINICALLY genderbent, as she's I'M GUESSING his sane, long suffering companion Sancho who's like trying to talk sense to this crazy old man. I guess the idea is she is sancho, his horse and ALSO the princess he is searching for.

The genderbend thing is unfortunately incorrect, from what I understand, Don himself is Don Quixote and Sancho combined, then the girl is simply the waitress who he called princess mixed with his horse

Blackbeard's actually an interesting character. Canonically, the way he acts the way he does is to lower everyone's guard and look less intimidating. Blackbeard's TRUE persona is still the Devil of the Sea, Edward Teach, Captain Blackbeard, but he more or less pretends to be anything but. Something about wanting to fit in with his Master. Also, cool thing about Foreigners is that they go out of their way to hide their more... Eldritch sides. You don't see their "True Form" until you get them to their final ascension stage, and this transformation also changes their Noble Phantasm's aesthetic in most cases. FGO introduced a lot of classes that are pretty damn foreign to the main "3 knights, 3 calvalry, Berserker" servant set, and I think it does it in a good way that doesn't make things too convoluted.

Julius Ceaser in Fate lore was buff when he was alive, Cleopatra commenting on how different servant Julius looks. He's fat as a servant to symbolize the maasive amount of amassed wealth and prosperity of Rome during the time. He's no less strong while fat. Also interesting is that his charisma stat is so high is that people consider him to still be just as attractive as he was when he was buff.

Okay, I really enjoyed watching this, and I also liked the choices for background music in parts of it from various JRPGs and all that. Like using the Town Theme from Wild ARMs 1 for Calamity Jane. Actually, the hilarious irony there is that there actually IS a Calamity Jane in Wild ARMs 1 with her own theme song and everything, lol.
