Not an HO modeler any more, however I am a big Western Pacific fan and really appreciate the great paint job on the model. I have gone back to my toy train roots and have migrated back to O gauge in my retirement. Still havin' fun and that's what counts!

Great review as usual! I picked up two of these (New Jersey Transit and New Orleans Public Belt), both really great looking models. I do have a slight amount of light bleed between the cab and the engine on both, probably easily fixed with a small piece of electrical tape when I open it up one day. It's great that Atlas is using LokSound 5 now as standard apparently. They run and sound great. Very quiet running motors too. If they had a PowerPack capacitor standard, I'd give them an A+, for now they get a solid A.

The lack of ditch lights in the NJT version is also very disappointing. For a $200 engine with so much other road specific detail at this price level and the number of lighting functions on the Loksound 5 they really should’ve been tooled that in already at the factory.

Hi John, the WP green is referred to as Perlman green. Perlman was the president of WP before Flannery became CEO. Petlman then was appointed as first executive VP by the board. I grew up with the WP having three generations working there. It was a good life.Thank you for highlighting the model.

Horrible how Atlas is doing the fuel tank and air reservoir plus the rad grills in back They're still a few years behind the other guys and seem to refuse to update their products. I bought two of their Ferromex GP40-2s and that's going to be the last locomotive purchase I'm getting from them. Thank you for posting this video, it's worth it so we can see where things haven't gone.
