Excellent video as always Jim. Before you even said anything about the powder coat coming through on video it was for sure. That is a work of art and engineering period. Big props to the owner for sending it back to him for the possible mid tech. Like he said in a previous post we are a community that helps each other out. Keep the videos coming as they are not only superb but keep us in the community informed.

I've been watching Geoff since his semi early pimping days and its really great to see him grow so much. I have to admit that I was never a fan of the Tanic, a little too "over built" and large for me. The Switch on the other hand is a beautiful, well thought out design that appeals to me more than anything else that he has done....more than many knives that the vast majority of makers do! I would die to get a custom from him but I realize the likelihood of that happening is slim to none, so a midtech would be very welcome!

Never handled one of his knives. Looks like a well built knife. But for me there needs to be texture on the handle. Not crazy about handles with smooth surfaces. If that is what one wanted then so be it. I too wear a size L glove...and find ZT knives with I think 3.75" blades...and I think a 4" handle to fit best in my hand...like the 560 (forgot the model # for my knife HEH). And I would have liked to have seen some "jumping" on the back of the blade.

Hey Jim, what's your opinion on those cute little tac-force speedster knives you can get for like 10 bucks a piece on amazon? Do you have one? If so, how well did it hold up for you? I'm just curious, because I got the air force variant of it, and I used it a few times a week while working at my grocery store for light-duty tasks. [nothing serious at all. Just used it for cutting tape and cardboard.] After about 3 months, the lock doesn't seem to be working at all anymore. It still flips open just fine, but the in-line lock is practically non-functional. I'm not sure what the issue is, because it doesn't look like the lock is bent or broken, and it's not a screw issue, because I spent like half an hour last night messing with the screws, and that didn't do anything. Kind of pisses me off because I really liked that little guy. I'm a small person and it fit in my hand and pocket perfectly. The knife I got: www.amazon.com/Force-TF-716AF-S-Tactical-Assisted-Opening/dp/B0087DSV4Y/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

Joe Kleinberg Another option if you can grab one would be the Brous Division Flipper, the full size. Just over 4 inch blade, carbon fiber handles, titanium liners and a deep carry clip. www2.knifecenter.com/item/JBDFSW/brous-blades-division-flipper-folder-d2-stonewash-blade-carbon-fiber-handles

I'm asking for more than curiosity. I'm sort of, i guess,utilitarian with my knife selection. Some of what i carry daily will tend to slightly alarm people who don't know me. (I'm in Jersey, and well...people tend to be afraid of their own shadow) I've notice a "nicer looking" Benchmade of the same dimensions as say an Emerson, tends to go over a little better than the milspec looking Emersons. . Just curious about the actual ruggedness of some of the higher priced and more elegant knives.*****

Lack luster for me personally for such a high priced knife, but I can see the blade is not centered all the way from my side of the screen which you purposely failed to show Jim. lol However I can appreciate many of the fine points of this knife. Take this input with a gain a salt, I really enjoy your channel Jim, but you have really got kinda kiss sassy to these designers. I want to know what you really think Jim, even if you point out your personally tastes and distastes.

@deadbeatbillionaires9 жыл бұрын
jIMMY, you forgot to disclose the other details about how you acquired this knife or maybe you are in the dark about the owner's relationship to Geoff. The owner of this knife spends $500-$1000 on this knife, the most expensive in his collection and then he immediately ships it to a total stranger on KZbin or is he a member of your inner circle. This seems like 100% advertisement for Geoff, before you get the "hook-up" on your knife, if you are advertising for Geoff that's your business. I could be wrong, I'm just asking. Thanks for the video.
@canadianknifeExpert9 жыл бұрын
I think Jim has enough of a reputation that someone would trust sending their knife to him.
@JimSkeltonKnives9 жыл бұрын
I did disclose how I got the knife, the owner's IG name is Bladesandbikes. And just like all of the Guest Blade videos I've done, the owner sent it to me to share with everyone because I don't own one of these myself yet. It's not my business or right to disclose what he paid or any other personal information about him.
@JimSkeltonKnives9 жыл бұрын
Add to that, Geoff doesn't really need advertisement. Every knife he builds sells and his books are closed. He can't handle the business he already has.

I respect Jim for his knife collection but he actuelly never seems to use them for anything. He's like a sheik from Abu Dhabi with 100 supercars but without a driver's license.
@bobjordan48689 жыл бұрын
How do you know that? I've seen scratches on his blades. I've seen handle finish rubbed away. Do you see scotch tape gunk on a blade? No - he cleans and takes care of his stuff. Do I think he EDCs his Tighe/Pirela Bengal? Of course not. Keep in mind, his video is probably of a brand new knife he just bought and as for what sort of use he has for them - he's a watch guy. I'm a college professor and my knives look mint too. Calling the dude a sheik with 100 cars and no DL is pretty insulting. I bet what he's playing with right now has a scratch or two.
@JimSkeltonKnives9 жыл бұрын
WHY do people constantly make this assumption? Nevermind the fact that I've answered this on at least a DOZEN videos and also made a video about this (Frequently Asked Questions Videos 1 & 2), but I'm not filming every moment of my life. You cannot possibly know what I do with my knives. I do a video when my knives are NEW as they arrive, and in this case it's not even my knife. But the other knife I showed IS my knife and shows actual wear on it. You cannot possibly miss it. I carry and use every knife I own, but I know how to take care of my stuff. Would I make a video with my cars or motorcycles in them without washing them first? No. Same here... I take good care of all the investments I have.

***** powdercoat is very durable, wouldnt do it unless i tested it extensively. only time it scratched was when i unscrewed an optic from my AR with the spine of the blade...same thing happened when i did it with an uncoated blade, only thing is the powdercoat protected the blade. Also on this and any other coated knife i offer recoat or all around refinish free.

Teachering It is his channel, he can do as he wants. Just like TV, Im sure there are shows that you dont watch, or movies you wont go see, whether it is because of the story, language, etc. That is Jim. If you do not like it, do not watch. He should not have to change, because you do not like it.
@Teachering9 жыл бұрын
Donald Evans At no point in my comment did I tell Jim that he had to change anything. I wasn't rude to him in what I said. I simply made mention of his use of the "f" bomb. All of us can and should be open to constructive criticism from time to time. I stand by my earlier statement.
