A college professor (psychology) once told a story about this woman he knew that drank two bottles of vanilla extract every day, to get tipsy. She was very dedicated to this addiction, but very embarrassed by it. She went as far as to make a monthly schedule and accompanying map to organize which stores she would buy vanilla extract at on which day. She wouldn't shop in the same store in the same month or in the same town in the same week, because she didn't want any single individual recognizing her and finding out how much vanilla extract she buys. She even scheduled different times of the day to shop, so she wouldn't run into the same employees. I'm sure she would love this recipe.

As a pastry chef this horrifies me, because the poll adjusts the percentages to keep it all added up to 100% you could easily covert this “recipe” into metric by simply changing the percentage value into grams, so for every 100 grams there’s only 8 grams of sugar, 6 grams of baking powder, and 44 grams of vanilla extract, that would be acrid, bitter, and just feral 😖

now there is a detail that could actually save this cake. at least over here in germany, there is two types of vanilla extract. one is the classic as seen in this video, the other is made of concentate. it is esentially the normal extract concentrated into a paste then thinned back down with syrup so it has little to no alcohol and its thicc because of the high sugar content. id bet itd make this an edible, maybe even enjoyable cake because ive taken a swig of this kind of vanilla extract before, and while extremely vanilly, it was actually pretty tasty.

It’s not fermenting lol. Steeping or infusing is the word you’re looking for. Fermenting is a very specific process of controlled rot using probiotics, used in things like sauerkraut and kombucha.

Watching you measure out 24 teaspoons nearly killed me lmao. 3 tsp = 1 Tbsp so you could have just put in 8 tablespoons. And there are two tablespoons in an ounce so you could have just used a liquid measure for four fl oz (aka 1/2 cup).

For baking slow rise doughs (like overnight), they really only need a teeny _tiny_ amount of yeast, I refuse to waste anything! I'm poor and using 2X to 5X the amount adds up! 💸 Nooo come back money! 😭

I went to school for Chemistry, and in Organic Chemistry, in a lab project where we got to pick something we synthesised, my partner and I picked Vanillin, aka fake vanilla flavour.
