These kids were not old enough to witness in real time Steve-O’s awful addiction to nitrous oxide. I don’t understand how you see the effects of it, and think “I wanna feel just like that”. It’s a wholesome memory to me but today CPS probably would have taken me away from him. It’s a totally harmless drug, they also give it to children and adults at the dentist at a much higher rate. You have to have money like Kanye and be doing it all day every day for it to actually cause brain damage.
@argosime3 ай бұрын
@leannezezeski-sass2773 it's not harmless, it gets you high by killing your brain cells. (As in, you get high because the gas impedes the flow of oxygen to your brain. It literally kills brain cells.) I'm a pothead so I'm not exactly straight edge, but giving your kid whippits is fucked. I'm sure your dad didn't know, but jesus.
@Iceman960513 ай бұрын
@leannezezeski-sass2773 Bit wrong here. It's not harmless however it doesn't inherantly cause brain damage like inhalants. It's a dissociative like DXM, PCP and Ketamine (and other uncommon ones). The brain damage would only be from oxygen deprivation which is not it's high effect. That's from unsafe and stupid usage. It's real danger is that it inhibits B12 usage in your body. That's mostly needed for your nervous system. High usage with long breaks is significantly safer than constant usage in small amounts. You can get irreversible nerve damage from abusing it too much.

Some other challenges I remember that you didn't mention include the "Devious Licks" challenge, where predominantly high school aged individuals would just steal stuff from the school bathrooms, such as soap and paper towel dispensers, sinks, urinals, etc. That stuff, while not dangerous, was literally promoting theft and vandalism to the youth. The other challenge that was actually very dangerous that I was surprised you didn't mention was the "Fire Challenge," where teens were literally pouring rubbing alcohol on their bare bodies and lighting themselves on fire, which is very obvious why that is not a good idea to do under ANY circumstances. Plenty of adolescents got hospitalized for that challenge, resulting in 2nd and 3rd degree burns that were pretty nasty. This Galaxy Gas stuff is also wild to hear about, and definitely not safe. I will say that the concept of nirtrous oxide is very gray area just because it has practical uses, but so many people find ways to abuse the stuff, like many other substances or chemicals. It's just crazy to see how these challenges evolve.

Wait, so there are people who don't find frying your brain cells to an irreversible state as something fun to do in your free time?!

@@itzamnadiaz1587 yep. Literally one of the only ways of getting high that ACTUALLY kills brain cells rather than just screwing up your chemistry, lungs, liver, heart, or kidneys. Not that those are "better" but the damage can be reversed or at least treated. You can't reverse brain damage.

I can't believe Hunter didn't talk about the Slender man craze that led to 2 girls stabbing their friend to death in the middle of the forest. While these trends here people will come and go quickly, the Slender man craze was a cult-like thing. People were doing Satanic rituals in the middle of a forest!
