Let's discuss the best performance upgrades and mods for your EA888 Gen 3 engine (2011 onward).
The NEW 2011 1.8 TSi or TFSi & 2.0 TSi TFSi referred to internally as the EA888 is a great engine, so we'll look at the Best Mods & Tuning Upgrades.
Our focus is on the 1.8TFsi and 2.0 TFSi turbo namely the EA888 TFSi version and we will focus on the Gen 3 which is quite heavily revised and needs a different approach to mods.
This engine is quite a revolutionary leap forward in design, is far more modular and the range of turbos used was quite different to earlier models.
Let's start with something exciting: tuning. A high-quality ECU remap can work wonders for your car. It's like a secret key that unlocks more power. This magic happens by tweaking the engine's fuel and boost maps.
The result? Your car becomes smoother and more responsive. You get a boost in horsepower and torque, which makes your driving experience awesome. The best part? You can find skilled tuners who offer custom remaps, tailored just for you. It's a fantastic upgrade, all without changing any car parts.
Now, if you want more air flowing into your engine, a performance intake kit is a fantastic choice. It's popular and won't break the bank. But the question is, does it make your car much more powerful? Well, it does give your engine a growling sound when you hit the gas, adding a dash of excitement to your drive and can help remove a restriction (If there is one in your setup).
Pairing that intake kit with a high-performance exhaust system is a brilliant move. Swapping out the factory exhaust for a quality aftermarket one does two things. First, it frees up the airflow, letting your engine breathe better, which means more power. Second, it gives your car a more robust and aggressive exhaust note. You feel it as you drive, making the whole experience better.
Now, let's talk about going big with forced induction upgrades. If you're seriously hungry for more power, consider a turbocharger or supercharger kit. These are like superchargers for your car, literally. They push more air into the engine, which means more oxygen and, you guessed it, more power.
But here's the catch: these upgrades need expert installation skills and some cash. They're not cheap, but the results are worth it. You'll get a significant power boost that turns your ride into a performance beast. It's a game-changer for your driving pleasure.
In a nutshell, these are some of the top mods and upgrades for your 1.8 or 2.0 TFSI engine. Whether you're looking for a little extra oomph or want to transform your car into a powerhouse, there's an option for every budget. So why wait? Dive into these possibilities and unleash your car's full potential today!
This video covers the tuning of the 1.8 & 2.0 TFSi engines and how to get 400hp and what pitfalls to look out for when you are adding power. I will go through each popular mod and discuss the merits and pros and cons to give you a full understanding of what to realistically expect.
We review everything you could possible wish to do from turbo upgrades, to remaps and other performance mods lighter flywheels, induction kits, head work, big valves and your fueling.
Use of Blow Off Valves in the 1.8 & 2.0 TFSi is not a great idea. The 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI engines were used in a wide range of Volkswagen Group vehicles, including Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, and SEAT. Here are some examples:
Audi A3, A4, A5, A7, A8, Q2, Q3, Q5, TT, TTS
Volkswagen Golf GTI, Jetta GLI, Passat, Tiguan
Skoda Octavia, Superb, Yeti
SEAT Leon, Altea, Toledo

The Air-Intake tunes for the EA888 are very useful and you feel them pretty good. If you got air filter/hose/intake & outlet from a good manufacturer you feel that the turbo can breathe better, which is feelable in better turbo reaction time and even bit more torque in lower rpm. If you do thoes upgrades before Software you even geht roundabout 20hp more at the 2.0TSI with software. 305-310 without airupgrades 325-335 with upgrades. With downpipe an exhaust it's good for 350-360.

Which manufacturer did you use ? Which ones do you recommend ? I'm actualy consedering 034motorsport. I have a 1.8L TFSI 170HP EA888 gen3 CJEB motor actually ECU mapped stage 1 without any other mod and this is already a pleasure to drive it but I'd like to go a bit deeper, especially regarding the sound aspect. Thanks.

@@Nectiin Hey I also have CJEB engine, do you have a manual or auto? Have you noticed anything bad with the clutch with the stage 1 remap? Also have you done anything else? Trying to find ways to pull a bit more power out of mine. Thanks

I would love to know what mods i should do to 2023 A5 with the 2.0 tfsi gen 3.5 to get 300 to 350 hp, I can't find much about the new engine out there. I know there are some tunes coming out later in the year and have heard that the mild high bread is the reason there is not much available, and would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Ive just got the s tronic 1.8 and thinking of getting a remap 220bhp is plenty for me. Would the standard clutch burn out very quick with just a remap?

I have the a3 s-line . I just added a CAI and it has started throwing running lean code which I can clear with obd reader. I really don’t want take it of as it sounds awesome and seems to breathe better, but it’s running really rough . The maf sensor was working fine before install and has been cleaned . Any suggestions, I think maybe it needs a tune or can I get a higher capacity mass airflow sensor? I appreciate your time on this question

It should. I’ve been doing research. It looks like the gen3 EA888 comes in both the 1.8tsi and the 2.0tsi. You have the 2.0tsi gen 3 EA888 engine. I have a 2017 1.8 but haven’t done anything to it yet

I have a cc with 125k miles do i need rods and pistons? Or is it not worth it at this point? I think ccs come with the gen 1

@@henrytzul-lacan1627 cc is gen 3 But I’ll say at that miles just do a carbon clean With a dsg transmission fluid change with gaskets and filter and not mod it until you do maintenance on it first Since it’s been pushed a lot of miles already Modding it without properly maintenance will just make u waste money especially if you want to push it to give you more hp Air intakes and a downpipe doesn’t affect it at all but pushing it to higher rpms hp mods will cost you more to fix
