Grip tuning was another very requested video, and although I was initially hesitant as there is a lot of info scattered throughout the rest of my channel on better launching and grip tuning etc, I'm really glad I ended up making this slight spin on it! Sometimes it's just nice to compile all the info into one place and be able to go into more detail, and that's what the tuning quickie series is all about!
Anyway, another Car Review probably coming up next...a few of you awesome people have been asking me about the Discord and I'm working on that as well, just decided to roll it out with a few other fun things so it's been put on hold for another week or so...I'm pretty bad at meeting date goals if you haven't noticed :| |

Man, I don't know any guide better than yours. Simple, easy, short, with deep understanding. and still you are saying that all of this depends mostly of the drivers preference and the car itself. So, nobody can accuse you that your guides are inaccurate. I believe that you helped us a lot with our driving/tuning skills. I don't play this game that often, but when I do, I check out your youtube channel before I launch the game just to be sure that I haven't missed anything :P Gt: the QuantumJump (you are the only person on my friend list who is slightly faster than me on monthly challenge, with a z4) Just keep up with this amazing content man. we all love you so much !

Yea over time I began to realize this game engine just likes all tires having power (awd) and anything that's rwd the physics engine just wants to whip around and throw off the track. I feel like rwd in real life is smoother

Throttle control matters a lot in anything RWD over A-class, and even then it can still matter down to B depending on what car and tire combination. It's why the AWD swap is so popular on console, it compensates for poor throttle control and most people that play on a controller have poor throttle control. It's not impossible to do well with a gamepad but it's far harder to learn and master than using a proper pedal and wheel setup.
@FauxTitle
@FauxTitle 5 жыл бұрын
@@BigBoyXP4014 as a console player who currently uses a controller I agree, trying to control throttle with that trigger is nearly impossible. Waiting to get my logitech wheel setup before I even think about trying to take my rwd s1 or above cars into real races

Great information! It would be really nice if the developers added in different drivetrain lobbies online. I find myself doing a lot less rear wheel drive car tuning now since nobody downloads them and rarely do they do well outside of private lobbies. Sadly rwd cars are my favorite to drive, but you can only cruise around by yourself for so long 😕

Having driven the rr porsches, i'd say u want to make your rear softer, and also u can't brake while turning in like an fr because your rear might slide out, brake on the straights, RRs are good at response but for prolonged turning they start to understeer. Also, for cornering, keep your speed either the same or a small amount of accel to keep enough weight on the rear, but not enough power to oversteer.

Can you review the R34 skyline GTR? I managed a decent tune that is just amazing in winter from AWD and snow tires, but also great in the summer time due to a decent power to weight ratio. Right now I managed 308kw and 1220kg in A class, where I think it fits best. It also seems to prefer longer gears than shorter ones with a camshaft upgrade too, due to the rather slow shifting, even with upgrades. I recommend it highly. Also, style points.

on the tire temp i've spent a couple days testing my supra's trying to make them...good or atleast decent. now i have some tyre temp/pressure tuning experience from assetto corsa so i had some idea's to get some heat in to the tyre's however as soon as i started to apply my thoughts....i got nowhere. i tried decreasing rear toe (i figured since the tyre's are not alightned peferfectly strait and are extremely lightly rubbing this would put more heat in the tyre's...nope then i reluctantly maxed the rear aero and gained about 2 degree's (about 5-10 degree's off my target) then i remembered there supposed to get hotter when you lower the pressure so i took em from just under 2.2 bar to 1.93 bar.... no temp difference. then i tought i'll make the tyre's slimmer it'll suck at launch but the rear should be slipping a bit more here and there perhaps gain some heat that way....nope.... other then semi drifting how do i put heat in to my tyre's >.< front is awsome by accident rear is always a bit on the cold side and unless i start drifting a little through the corners and exiting full throttle to do a bit of a burnout no heat is getting in there. testing in summer. also indeed i can place better and win easier with a awd but if i pull it off with a rwd it just feels so much more earned. i likes my racing like i likes my darksouls, hard and terrying. wresling 900-1600 hp supra's in S1 that's the good stuff (the 1600hp sport tyre rwd is really fun...almost impossible to place well with but soooooooo much fun)

I kind of disagree with transmission tuning with 1st gear. I stick to tuning it enough to keep it functional especially for slow corners where I may want to have 1st gear. I think tuning 1st to be a launch gear is more of a crutch for learning how to just handle the launch by metering the throttle. I also like to tune out anything beyond 7th gear if the car has that many gears. A lot of these cars get 8 gears and if you tune it in you'll find yourself shifting a lot more than if you tuned the car to max out in 6th or 7th gear. Shifts are quick for sure but over the course of a race that can be the difference of a second or two.

AWD is usually king in online racing, because most people are not good enough to drive with RWD, since it is more challening to drive and set up. Those who keep trying with RWD eventually get good enough to utilize the advanteges of RWD-driving and be able to overcome AWD-Drivers.

first of all awd is allways better in forza we all know but i hate the understeer when u come to hot into a corner u are gone... in my opinion oversteer is much more manageable, when the back of ur car begins to slide out just lift the gas and tip the handbrake then u shoud be fine. an other benefit from rwd is can step on the gas midcorner to get a slight oversteer that pulls u back where u want its kinda hard to pull of. but the benefits are minor, in online just use awd there or u lose... i just like the way it handles different from an awd car

I hate theAWD meta online. Makes using anything except AWD pointless if you want a chance to compete. I wish along with class restrictions they would do drive wheel restrictions (like in FM). I want to do a B Class FWD Street race series, or S class RWD sprint/road series. Make it actually more fun and take skill rather than just power through with 4 wheel. I typically play unranked and just use the car I want. I stay away from AWD because I feel like even with the point system it's still unfair. Most of the AWD swaps only add like 10 pi where it should ad a lot more for balance. Offline though I never run AWD except cross country. I even do FWD and RWD rally's against expert drivatars for a little challenge, and it's way more satisfying when you win that way.

At 7:10 you've said something really interesting to me, the car rocks back a bit, which shows you that it has too much oversteer that it can't use. I've been struggling with some of my tunes when adjusting over/understeer, usually on AWD though as I tend to build cars for online and necer really knew how to explain my issue, but this is pretty close to it, except for me that doesn't usually happen at the end of the corner but right in the middle. I'll turn in, the car will go into the corner and then pull straight again. Is that also just the car having too much oversteer and then gripping again? What if I don't want it to grip as the cars tend to go around the corner nicely until the rear presumably grips and I'm suddenly massively understeering, or is that an unrelated issue?
@HokiHoshi
@HokiHoshi 5 жыл бұрын
So it sounds like what you're experiencing something that plagues a lot of FWD cars, and is prevalent in AWD as well, it's pretty much exactly as you described, the car turns in well and weight transfer pulls your back out, but since there's no/not as much power to the rear, the rear end settles back in and you understeer. If it is what i think it is, try adding more power the rear with the center diff on awd, softening rear ARBs and adjusting damping might help too, try softening front rebound stiffness and maybe stiffening rear

@@HokiHoshi Thank you so much, that worked, I still haven't got the car to handle quite the way I want it to and I'm having more and more doubts about getting the '65 GTO competitive in A class road, but this helps a lot, I've had to abandon a bunch of tunes because I didn't know how to fix that issue

Also, try lowering the accel setting on the front diff so the front wheels spin independently of each other a little longer as you're getting back on the throttle as you clear the apex of the turn.

RWD Tune? That is preposterous..... don't you know everyone in FH4 uses AWD?
@CAepicreviews

That's the point - The people who don't suck can use RWD and still dominate a majority of opponents if they at the minimum just don't fuck up. If they can drive well, it's not a competition. I've managed lap times of 0:56.116 in the RWD, 727HP, 1882 pound AMG CLK GTR on the Hollyrood Circuit. Most people can't match close to that no matter what they do.

I do alright at speed with rwd but my launches always put me in near to last place within the first 4 seconds of a race, usually I pass a lot then though which makes the race more interesting even though I barely end up top 3 with rwd

Are you using ABS? If not- it may be due to your front wheels locking up under hard braking. Your front wheels need to be rotating for them to make your car turn in. To solve this, the easiest way is to enable ABS, but you could also try to reduce braking pressure in your tune (start with 70% at the front, drop it 5% at a time until your understeer is reduced or your braking performance is negatively affected). Furthermore, you can move your brake bias towards the rear. Start at 53% (by counter-intuitively moving the Brake Bias slider LEFT) and move a percent or two at a time. I wouldn't move past the lower 60% range. Hope that helps. Good luck. Let me know if you need more info. P.S. Sweet outrun avatar.
