Hammer on the nail, been reading on lambda for a while since I have a kid driver who can't carburante yet... Still seems like mychron is the way to go since it's being logged where a quick tune in pit lane is possible or in the paddock

yeah its the most comprehensive. the lights are simple and effective

Thank you so much Derek, you have really mentioned every little detail, and that makes a massive difference, looking forward to the next video. The Alfano 6 is pretty much like the Mychron, just as expensive, I hope you can talk a little bit about the sensor itself, some people say that as soon as it gets a little bit dirty from all the deposits, the sensor can malfunction, I don’t know if this is true or not, maybe that’s something that used to happen in the old days, I really don’t know as I have no experience with the lambda sensor but I really want to use one, if it works fine for quite sometime, Maybe once in a while the sensor needs to be cleaned? I’m sure there are ways to do that without damaging the sensor. Something else to cover in a future video 👍👍👍🙏
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
yeah the sensor is like tyres, sometimes they need to be replaced. but its not uncommon for sensors to last 20plus hours. and you can't clean them AFAIK

Hey Dez, What's the best method of attaching the bung to the exhaust? I've got an alfano sensor, bit confused as to what the best and most reliable method of welding on the sensor. Can I use a mig welder (which is what I have available using Argon shielding) or should I send the exhaust away to have the bung bronze welded?
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
we / unlce Mitch, uses the MIG at work and it works awesome. He is a welder tradie however. otherwise I used to braze them on , but they have cracked before with that too. and now we don't have OXY at work. so it is MIG or nothing

In your opinion; does the narrow band sensor of the EasiTune have enough resolution to be applicable to shifter karts? The reason I ask this is comparing the AFR needed for best power (and durability) on an air-cooled kart compared to a water cooled kart, are different, so I’d assume the “GREEN” zone has a particular engine type in mind???
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
great question. not sure as I haven't used on a KZ. but they work well on x30, rotax and all water cooled engines I have tuned in the past for me. in saying that, the wide band unit is superior in its range and data-logging, so if you are KZ driving, maybe learn towards the LCU1 kit

Hey Dez, loving the videos thanks heaps, it's been a great help for newcomers like me. Just wondering on the best placement location of the LCU1 sensor (Bosch LSU 4.9 probe) on a Rotax Senior Max Evo 125. Can you please provide measurements on the header pipe and between the cylindrical cones if that is possible on the Rotax?

Great videos! Can I use the mychron lcu1 on a 2 stroke engine in a kart? I have the IAME 175 super TAG engine. I have heard that the oil mixed with gas will foul the lambda sensor. Thanks.

yeah it does, but you can replace the sensor pretty easy and they last for ages

Hi great vid thanks, what would the best numbers be on the mychron unit..? what figure should you aim for for max power..? is this figure only at max revs..? of can you try to get to the figure with airscrews, needle heights etc for the lower RPM>>?? many thanks

Hey,i want to use a EGT-Sensor on my DD2. How long is the distance, specially for a DD2, from the Piston to the point i want to pace it?....and which temperatures will show me a good setup.
@PowerRepublic Жыл бұрын
Hey Tim, not sure exactly, but 50mm from the end of the pipe is a good start point and 635 degrees is typical for KZ, unsure about peak temp for DD2

Hey Dez. When people bounce in the kart seat hoping for more power, what are they trying to achieve? Does it work?
@PowerRepublic3 жыл бұрын
I guess its to make the kart "lighter" by removing the some rolling resistance. not sure if technically it works, but it definitely make you feel like you are trying hard. give it a go when you are desperate to hold a position.
@redhaze80803 жыл бұрын
@@PowerRepublic Nah i'll pass mate. It reminds me of shit car drivers who lean forwards in the seat as they overtake TBH. Never a sign of class. But i thought there might be clutch engagement or some real reason they were doing it... so i held my tongue. haha

@@PowerRepublic Happy New Year Dez! So I just purchased the EasiTune and it's on it's way! Can't wait to get it! Pretty excited! So I'm 15 and going X30 Sr this year. So I want to ask you. Here in the USA we don't run the old header anymore. We run the new style one piece pipe in Jr and Sr. These new pipes come with the exhaust bung already welded on. In the video you mentioned first to weld the exhaust bung 130mm from the beginning of the pipe. Then you mentioned a second time to weld it between 135-150mm and it happened to be with the old header. Not sure if it was for both the old header and the new pipe. But if you can please give me one measurement from the end of the new style pipe. I'd appreciate it. Thx mate!
