Turbo 4.9 gets an Exhaust Cutout!

I installed an electric exhaust cutout on my 1979 F250 with a turbo 4.9!

Ah, I miss how those tires sing on my dually. Poor thing has been down for a year now, since the 460 blew up.. twice. I'm building a turbo 300 to replace it, and I cannot express how much your videos excite me about it.

Wow this is an amazing build, I’m trying to do the same thing to my 78’ F-250, I picked up a 300 bored 20 over with 10 over mains and 10 over rods, do you think it would take boost fine? Will you be doing a look over of the turbo setup soon? Thank you love the channel

As long as you've got the rods with the oil squirters, she'll take boost fine. You going to get a four barrel manifold for it?

I plan on doing a Offenhauser C style 4 barrel but I’m not sure what to do with the exhaust as far at turbo yet

Thank you. I might dig into it a little this winter and maybe even put a cam in it. So far it seems to be holding up great with no signs of distress, it has quite a bit of blow-by but it always has. Seems happy with 8 pounds of boost. At one point I had the big wastegate spring in and it made ~16psi before I blew the charge pipe 40 feet into my neighbor’s yard. Sure wish’d a feller got that on video

Thank you, so your running a mostly stock engine as of right now with 8 psi and everything seems to be holding up good 👍, if you do the in depths video a little bit on the EFI unit your using would be nice. Thanks again

Yep, bone stock bottom end. I messed with the top end a fair bit. I may do that when I start messing with timing control this winter, it’s a Holley Super Sniper 4150

I ordered them from Walmart.com last June. They’re 7.50-16 Power Kings. I think I paid $146/ea
