I am from the U.S. and if I didnt know any better I would have thought everyone was racing 1st. Gen Taurus' and 4dr novas. Neither of those chassis' would be used here in the states. I love it!

To play devils advocate here, not entirely true. The Alloytec V6 was a Holden design that evolved into the 3.6ltr VF commodore much like the barra evolved from the intech and further from the thrift flow(what a great name!) i6. The HFV6 was still being built in Melbourne until the VF was superceded by the ZB. Regardless, the Barramundi 6 is a great design

@@pokinacha err.. no. the 3.8 was a design directly borrowed from Buick, and the 3.6 is GM's world engine. They are both american engines in entirety. Fun fact, the 3.8 was actually designed and exclusively used for front wheel drive cars in america.

@@nordic5490 HAHAHAHAHAHA. Not sure what you think constitutes as 'factory'... But anyway, RB30 blocks are good for upwards of 700hp no problem. Gem of a motor, just a severely revised head, or just plonking a 26 head on a 30 block is a good recipe for power and strength (with all supporting head work and internals of course)

@@SomervilleMetalWorks it actually took about 20 on one pass haha. But it's not normally like this we had massive dramas day before car didn't make it on the dyno and gearbox didn't go in till midnight basically tuned a brand new car on the day.

Why /ARE/ the newer 5.0 falcons so little in number compared to the barras? I've seen a similar trend at WSID, is there something that makes them unfavorable as a platform that I am missing? Each has their pros and cons and I am a turbo man myself, but still curious

Let's be real, the barra makes nice power but has no soul. I got bored of my XR6 Turbo after 6 months of ownership. My toothbrush made a more pleasing sound and could put the power down onto my teeth better than these put the power on the road. Put these engines in a more capalable platform and you'll be good, providing the theatre and feel of an engine does not interest you.
