Turbo Outrun was the first newly released game I ever purchased for my C64 and I remember being blown away at just how well-produced and polished it was. The music was just awesome throughout.

It's a classic example of pushing the C64 beyond what it was supposedly capable of doing! Commodore actually "fixed" the bug in the 8580 revision of the SID, which is a shame!

Also, all my respect to the graphic coders/designers for this game, but on the title screen, my brain interpreted the lady's left hand as a small alien face staring her down, and now I can't unsee it..

Everyone talks about the intro music, but I will never ever stop being deeply in love with the title music that's at 8:00 - this is how you do clean $d418 digi!

The game won't ever load. I hit fire and i get through the menu it just stays on a black screen.

Anyone have this on tape? What a nightmare it was...wouldn't load about 4 times out of 5. Spent hours with my childhood buddies trying to load this game. I see now it's a fairly mediocre racing game surrounded by awesome presentation like the loading screens and the music - the journey was better than the destination!

I like it better Outrun. The graphics are nicer and the audio too. That's not bad either.

The road speed of the first out run is so much better and the game is faaaaar more playable. People's been distracted by a good music (good..let's say 'full of samples') and didn't realize how bad the game is...

This was on the c64, what did you expect? Also, of course the sample channel is going to be abused, it's a sample channel on a system that isn't supposed to have a sample channel.
