Thank you for this video, I lost my turbo on a road trip 2 days ago and limped 250 miles home. The previous owner had made a mess of trying to fix it before, thanks to your video I managed to find the faults, put it back together, Solve my oily leak too as the rubber ring had moved and I’ve bent the the brace forward to hold the alloy tubing in place. I’ll order both parts as they are damaged but I’ve just went a drive and it all held in place! Regards from Scotland !👌

Exactly like my van. Excellent video. Not seated properly and causing errors like over boost.

I literally just discovered this problem on my van and had to identify the part being unfamiliar with turbo. I noticed it when I had the air box off. Your video was the first thing to come up. I live in St Pete. I’ll get a new one tomorrow. The seal on mine is all separated. At least I know how to repair it thanks to you! 🤙🏼

Really helpful. My turbo res. (MB 2010) and intake have been separating from each other and the turbo for almost a year. I tried putting it all together like the video shows but the res. doesn't seat completely and I can't find the third nut on the down-tube to better adjust it. The only solution I've come up with thus far are two hose clamps, one to prevent the res. gasket from deforming past its' stops on the res. and another diagonally between the intake pipe and res. to hold them together.

2:42 at this point it looks like I see residue from an injector leak (Black Death). Would have been a good time to take that cover off over the injectors and inspect

This is amazing, thank you! At 3:37 in I see there is no front-of-vehicle or driver's side headlight assembly on the van, is this repair possible without removing those from the vehicle first or do they just happen to be off on this particular Sprinter? Thank in advance!

(09 2500 sprinter, work issued) Had my glo plugs replaced at the mechanic. Before they were replaced, I heard 90% engine and 10% turbo. After plug change out, I hear so much whoosh boost noise/air now. And the connection below the resonator has oil all over it. Boss said its okay lol.

Hi I see that the new resonator part used in the 2008's has been upgraded 4 times and previous versions have been discontinued by Mercedes Benz, would it be feasible to just replace the whole unit, the new replacement cost $107.00 from Euro parts? I am having the same issues. As a solo cross country driver I am trying to err on the side of caution and prevent future issues.

I think that would be helpful, reducing the risk of this problem. But I don't have this van any more.

On my 2007 Sprinter with 3.0 ltr turbo diesel, my mechanic replaced both intake manifolds. Afterwards, the van has a very loud high pitched wislting noise that gets louder on acceleration with engine speed. He loooke all over for air leaks and couldn't find any (assuming he knows). Any suggestions?

I use a stethoscope with the thumper cut off, but any few feet length of small hose will help listen in very small areas. A whistle will be easy to find, but be careful because if it is blowing it can blow real hard into your ear. If it is a sucking leak it will be harder to find, but I bet you will find it at the exhaust manifold, not the intakes. The 3.0 is different from my vans so I'm not real familiar with them.

what you think of resonator delete?
@FloridaVanMan4 ай бұрын
I don't think that is an option for this van. The 2004-2006 North American version has a plastic resonator that can be replaced with aluminum straight pipe. It works wonderfully and I don't often notice any change in sound.

So, these things make turbos quieter? Do they increase efficiency or something? What are the benefits? Cheers my dears
@FloridaVanMan4 жыл бұрын
They're supposed to make the turbos quieter, I'm not so sure no the benefits but no delete exists for this generation Sprinter. The seams are not as problematic as they are on our USA T1Ns.
@zambotv81504 жыл бұрын
@@FloridaVanMan Neither of my vans have them., I wonder if it's an American or 5 cylinder thing? Just seems a bit odd putting something on a vehicle you don't really need, I love the sound of my turbo, it's music to my ears. Take care you two
@FloridaVanMan4 жыл бұрын
The turbo resonator is a sound muffler. We replace them in our T1N's with aluminum pipe and I can't hear any difference. This van is an '08 and we have not found an aluminum replacement, but it seems the original resonators don't have the same common problem as the T1N's have.

Has anyone made resonator delete pipe for this please give me link to it
@FloridaVanMan4 жыл бұрын
No it doesn’t exist for this model. On this model, the resonator seams blowing apart is not the issue. The issue is it coming apart due to pressure and no brackets to hold it together. I bet you could bring over the newer charge air pipes that have holding brackets on them.

@@mitchbm693 I don't think replacing the pipe will help. What eventually fixed this van in the video, I believe, was clearing a clogged DPF.
