WHAT IS THE GENITIVE CASE AND POSSESSIVE SUFFIX?
*****************************************
In English, if we wanted to mark a noun as the possessor (the owner) of another noun, we do it by adding “-‘s” to the possessor noun (the first noun) and that would be enough. If you want to show possession in Turkish, we need to add a Genitive Case suffix to the possessor and the possessive marker to the possessed noun:

Thank you so much for the clarity in explaining Turkish grammar... One note though, these are personal pronouns and not personal adjectives, as per classification in grammars.

Hello my friend. I've been reading and translating a text in Turkish to improve my knowledge. I found the following sentence: Annem, bir müzik GRUBUNDA müzisyen. Grubunda comes from the word "Grup" right? I undertand that the -da means "My mother is IN a band". But, where is the -un coming from? Is it the genitive case? Thank you so much for your help.

Hocam , in previous day 3 , in the lesson of present tense ' to be ' you teached that :- For ex :- i have to say ' i am police , so according to day 3 , i have to write ' '" '' polisim'' , but according to this lesson if i want to say ''my police '', i have to say polisim '' , So how can both the words be sensible ?? ''İ am police:- polisim'' or ''My police :- polisim '' What can i do ? İ mean that which one has which meaning , both are same , but what their meaning be ?
@broadcastblk
@broadcastblk 6 ай бұрын
By intonation. If you emphasize the last syllable: 'im' it means possession, my police. If you emphasize the last syllable before 'im', that is 'lis' of polis , it means I am (a) polis. This work for all other examples as well.

Merhaba Hocam! İyi misiniz? Dersiniz için teşekkür ederim. At 03:39 due to consonant assimilation aren't we supposed to pronounce Ahmet'in as (Ahmedin)? Başka bir şey de var. At 04:48, last example Zeynep'in sözlüğü why isn't it Zeyneb'in due to consonant assimilation? Yine teşekkür ederim.
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk 3 жыл бұрын
Merhaba Fiza, iyiyim. Teşekkürler! For Proper Nouns (person names), we don't do Consonant Assimilation. Also when adding a Case Marker like the Possesive Case in "Ahmet'in", we have to use the " ' " in between the proper noun and the case marker. For normal nouns, we don't separate them with a " ' ".

@LearnTurkishwithGokberk
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk 3 жыл бұрын
Merhaba Ramsha. "Bana" and "sana" means "to me" and "to you". "Beni" and "seni" is the pronoun with the Accusative Case. This is basically the definite article "the" used for Pronouns in Turkish. Be sure to watch the lesson on "Case Markers" to learn more.

@LearnTurkishwithGokberk 3 жыл бұрын
@@zulkiflijamil4033 Well you can say it like that, but the sentence will be incomplete. What do you want to say with "bana araba" ?
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk 3 жыл бұрын
Also we use the "bir" article before the noun, so it would be "bana bir araba"

Would you tell me the order of Turkish suffixes ? it's like this: The Possessive Suffix follows the Plural Suffix.
@aitanqamet9776
@aitanqamet9776 3 жыл бұрын
there are case suffixe , personal suffixe and Possessive Suffix. I need all of the order
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk
@LearnTurkishwithGokberk 3 жыл бұрын
@@aitanqamet9776 The order is pretty long but it's something like this: "Stem Verb + Voice (Passive/Causative/Reflexive/Reciprocal) + Ability (-ebil) + Negation (-me/ma) + Possibility (-abil, converbs -ıver, converbs -adur, converbs -akal) + Tense/Aspect/Modality + Copula (-mış, -ydı, +ysa) + Person Markers(Suffix). So The Case Markers are generally before the Person Suffix.
