Erkek=Male. Ekmek=Bread. I did see in one of KZbinr was telling " I went to local grocery store to buy bread. Instead of asking ekmek, I mistaken the word with erkek and ask if they have any fresh erkek, grocery manager asked her how many she needs,. She did reply, 2 erkek would be enough for the day. Then everyone start to lough at her. But at the end they did correct her.

“Hıyarağası” and “göt lalesi” are masterpieces. :-) So is “ömür törpüsü.” I think in English the closest word for maydonoz is a meddler. A person who butts in. Or very informally a “buttinsky.” But there’s also a Yiddish word for it - a kibitzer. On the east coast of the US most people will know that word. And maybe a little less known is a “yenta”, for a woman who’s always interfering in other people’s lives.

Lol in Argentina we say Parsley (Perejil) to refer to someone who is an idiot. Here we use animals to insult people as well. Thank you for making this video, sometimes is good to learn insults, not to use them, but to recognize them if they're being said to you. I remember a foreign girl in first grade who was being taught bad words by classmates and she didn't know what she was saying and why it was so funny for all.

In Bulgaria we have similar phrase "Tozi e na vsiako gurne magdanoz" - "He is parsley in every pot" for a man that try to get in everyone's business. It probably have turkish origin, and the word for "parsley" is almost the same "magdanoz" in bulgarian and "maydanoz" in turkish.

Hi. I really found this video very helpful so many thanks for it. I disagree, however, with your explanation of 'yavşak'. You say 'creepy person'. I'm a native speaker of English and someone who is creepy is strange/peculiar and therefore a bit scary/frightening. I have lived in Turkey on and off for a long time and the way I hear 'yavşak' being spoken here, equates much more to how we use 'asshole' in English. We call someone an asshole if they say or do something we don't like or don't agree with and you use yavşak in the same way. Değil mi?
