Excellent. I've watched toooooo many golf swing videos. I put this one at the very top of the list. It's intuitive and spot on. Can't be emphasized enough IMHO.

yes...can you do a video on how the upper arms work in the forward swing. If I keep my hands passive...I make a great swing.

Sure thing! Will put that on the list on future shoots!

I used to take lessons from Jamie Mulligan back in the late '80s, early '90s when I lived in L.A. Skylinks muni in Long Beach.

That guy behind you needs one of those as I noticed he definitely was handsy on his chips. That brings up a big question - how do you chip and pitch without the hands?
@danmartingolf Жыл бұрын
The key is to understand that the hands are part of the club and we the inertia of our masses from rotation under the fall of gravity to make the club perform for us. It's like throwing, you simply hold the ball and let the requisite motion of your body do the work. If you try to act force on the ball you are throwing, you are being "handsy" and you won't be very powerful or accurate with your throw. If you simply hold it and let the inertia of your rotating body do the work and let go at the right time, you have a successful throw. It's no different in any golf motion from chipping to full swing. if you are acting a force on the shaft to move the club, you are being handsy. If you learn to hold the club and make it a part of your body, then you are no longer acting a force on it. This is why the PRO is an indispensable tool for learning. It teaches you how to eliminate force application and understand motion! I see you ordered a PRO, should be there in a few days!!

I can swing in proportion. I just can’t hit the ball most of the time. I keep topping or hitting fat most of the time. I can’t seem to stop. I am really frustrated.
@danmartingolf4 жыл бұрын
The very nature of topping and hitting fat is that the hands are not swinging proportional to the club, but rather they are trying to assist the swing of the clubhead. This is hidden in the golf club, but revealed quickly in the PRO. It's a difficult skill to master, but once understood and felt, it's a game changer. Thx & don't give up!!

Dan Martin Golf Thank you. Good to know. Yes this is and has been so so difficult for me to master and or improve on. It is as if my subconscious is programmed against it. I play 3-4 times a week and experience great frustration and humiliation through out a golf game because of topping and hitting fat so often As a senior I am wondering if these strong emotions could have a negative effect on my physical health. This is my past time as I am retired. I do enjoy trying to swing and hit the ball initially at least. I don’t have another past time that allows me to see nature and be out side 4 hours a day 3 or 4 times a week and enjoy the companionship and camaraderie of my wife and others or I might consider trying something else.

So the hands are just clamps that move in sync or in proportion with the entire club? No independent hand movement with respect to the motion of the club. Because that places undo influence on the clubhead.

That is the ideal - but difficult to do!
