I actually own the n64 version with the box and manual,the manual also has a little comic book in it. Turok and Turok 2 seeds of evil were always my favorite shooters in the n64,alongside 007 Goldeneye of course,but Turok always had a special place in my heart you know?The soundtrack,the graphics,those awesome enemies death animations,they amused me since i was a kid,but the controls were a pain,but like you said,with time i kinda mastered the shity control and adapted to its crap factor😁 Regardless,Turok is a amazing Fps ,and is a shame we don't get any shooter game like this anymore like the ones from back in the 90's with those crazy arsenals. Cheers from Brasil!!!

Turok was the first game my brother got for his N64, followed by MK Trilogy. This remaster is by far the best version of Turok, and the Plus mod tosses in the weapons from Turok 2. I love Turok 2 Remastered, but the first Turok game has less confusing level design.

I have to say the most glaring difference between this and the n64 version is the view distance. Because of this the enemies will see you a lot sooner. You will be shot from nowhere and can take a lot of damage before you locate the target.

My multiplayer days are long past and now I simply want to enjoy single-player fun with some offline bot deathmatch/teamplay where able. Thanks to your videos I now have Unreal Tournament 2004, Quake 3 Arena and Battlefront II in addition to these two games all modded and ready to go. Back in the N64 days this game (Turok: Dinosaur Hunter) for me felt like next level shit. Small details like the music changing when you went underwater, the big maps, the exploration, that soundtrack. This and Killer Instinct Gold blew my mind when i was a kid, there's also Goldeneye but it didn't cause that initial shock that Turok caused on me.
@sibylsaint6 жыл бұрын
I loved the N64 control scheme, and even found a menu option in Goldeneye to have the same. Yellow arrow buttons to move, and the stick to look around. It was so intuitive and way better than using the stick to move and not being able to look around very well.

I never watched a Jurassic Park film until I've seen Jurassic Park III back in 2001. On the subject of Turok, I haven't played any of the games but I have seen box out of it, that was until recently when I picked up the night dive versions of both games. I love Turok +. Such a great mod and now my preferred way of playing the original Turok.

I swear this was the game me and my cousin played on splitscreen as kids on our Xbox and there was this gun that seemingly did nothing, but looked cool as hell. For the N64 version of Turok, if you set the controls to left handed mode, you move with the d-pad and aim with the control stick. It essentially works just as dual analog works today. Just in case you ever wanted to give the N64 version another shot.

1:40 Your information is off here. This is not based on the original PC version. It is it's own beast developed from the ground up in a completely new engine, but the N64 version was the starting point. The PC port was identical to the N64 version. The slightly different levels are exclusive to this version as an intentional redesign to give the game a better flow. The original (both N64 and PC) could be frustrating due to extremely 'labyrinthian' levels in which some of the keys required to proceed were way too hidden almost as if it was a secret. This version re positioned a few of these keys as well as one of the levels got heavily redesigned to cut down to the amount of repetitive corridors.
@Gamingpastime646 жыл бұрын
If the originals are both identical, this is technically based on them then, no? Just recreated with a new engine. But I didn't know about the redesigned levels and I could have swore I read somewhere the original PC version was slightly different. My mistake then. If they did the same with Turok 2 then wow. Because those levels are insane.
@thiagovidal61376 жыл бұрын
Yes, they were both identical. You probably know about Kaiser, the developer who single handled reversed engineered Doom 64 straight from the rom, and ported into a new engine to release on PC called Doom64EX. He was doing the same with TurokEX based on the N64 version when Nightdive scooped him up and turned this into an official product. A straight up port would have not allowed them to actually change the game and the levels. N64 and PC were the same. This version was the first time that any improvements on level design was made. There is a bullet point on the Steam store listing that out and there is a few topics of discussion in the community in which Kaiser himself talks a bit about it. Check it out: steamcommunity.com/app/405820/discussions/0/494632768631804391/

11 months later, but yes, they do. I use my Xbox one controller, personally, and it works great once I binded the buttons to my liking. Turok even has some auto-aim to it for smoother gameplay (even when using Mouse and Keyboard), most likely a carryover from the N64 version.

Gaming Pastime Spielberg made a lot of decisions for the sake of making the movie feel more intense to him. They knew many of the dinos had feathers and were more colorful but he didn’t think that was scary so he ignored the advising paleontologists working with him to make what he thought was a better movie There was a good amount of accuracy when it came to the dinosaur behavior and how they would react to things, but visually(and when it came to the size and shape of many dinos) he took a lot of creative freedom. The book is much more accurate

For it's time, in 1993, yeah, realistically depicted. Unless there's another dinosaur movie released at that time with better effects that I'm just not aware of.
@owenlindkvist53556 жыл бұрын
Then you should have stated that the movie boasted superb visual effects. Realistic depiction infers something entirely different. As in, they are depicted in a manner and visage that seems to be realistic to those creatures when they roamed.
@Gamingpastime646 жыл бұрын
And it is compared to any other dinosaur film that came before it. Their appearance, movement, etc. Realistically depicted. Yes, I'm aware of the film's inaccuracies discovered since its release. I also mentioned the effects.
@owenlindkvist53556 жыл бұрын
Yeah, dinosaur movies prior to its release doesn't make it more realistically accurate in depiction, mate. They were all shit on that front. And admitting to their being even greater amounts of discoveries only furthers the point that it is not a movie which can be held up as having a realistic depiction of dinosaurs. Still a good movie.
@Gamingpastime646 жыл бұрын
I would argue it does make it more realistic. More realistic than anything before it. I agree it doesn't hold up in terms of realism. But for its time, 1993, many of the discoveries weren't made yet. It's all about context.
