Great Tartan Army Scotland Fanwalk Cologne Euro 2024 / Riesiger Fanmarsch Schottland in Köln

The Tartan Army / Scots organised a gigantic scottish fan march with several thousand participants and fans before the match between Scotland and Switzerland. Led by 30 bagpipers, the Scots marched to the stadium in Cologne singing. Songs such as Flower of Scotland and Highland Cathredal were sung.

Die Tartan Army Schotten führten vor dem Spiel Schottland gegen die Schweiz einen gigantischen Fanmarsch mit mehren Tausend Teilnehmern und Fans durch. Angeführt von 30 Bagpipern zogen die Schotten singend zum Stadion in Köln. Es wurden Lieder wie Flower of Scotland, Highland Cathredal angestimmt.

1:10 - the fact that they play highland cathedral in cologne is the most beautiful thing. not only that its a tune brought to scotland by 2 germans, but also because its a famous tune in cologne adopted by the cologne band "Bläck Fööss" called "Du bes die Stadt". Furthermore the FC Köln Anthem is based on the scottish tune Loch Lomond. So many connections. Much love from a cologne citizen. 💙🤍 ❤🤍

Danke für diesen Beitrag. Die Geschichte hinter "Highland Cathedral" kannten wir (ich) gar nicht. Loch Lomond und die Effzeh Hymne ist natürlich bekannt. Die schottische Band Runrig (2018 endete die Bandgeschichte) hatte Loch Lomond ja populär gemacht und ist auf einem ihrer Konzerte auch mal in FC Köln Trikots aufgelaufen. Thank you for this post. We (I) didn't even know the story behind "Highland Cathedral". Loch Lomond and the Effzeh anthem are of course well known. The Scottish band Runrig (the band's history ended in 2018) had popularised Loch Lomond and once performed in FC Köln jerseys at one of their concerts.

This gets to me. I was in a similar march in 1998 walking to the stadium in Saint-Etienne, I was just aged 12, it was incredible and brings back so many good memories (even though we got humped 3-0). We received a "World Cup friendliest fans" key chain from FIFA after the World Cup. Scotland fans, of any sport, are simply incredible and a credit to our nation.
