I am just blown away at how you can make a flat twisted drawing look 3 dimensional! And what is really amazing is that now I can do it too.......well almost! ;-). Thank you for all you do!

I live in Alaska and my shop got trashed during our recent James Bond moment. (Shaken not stired) lol. I want to thank you for keeping me company while I cleaned up. There was no room for another person. So these videos were wonderful. I could look up while you were explaining techniques or to check out your progress while still making progress. So much so tomorrow I start repairs to the few things that need it. Like a scroll saw hit the control on my ceramic kiln. It is old school kild with switches and dials instead of digital so I think I can fix it. Up side of not having the money to upgrade? I think yes! Scroll saw is pretty much toast though. Don't know what I was thinking putting it 8' up on a shelf. Lesson learned. Thanks again for hanging out with me.

Another superb tutorial, helping me to make better use of my inktense pencils, mixing the colours and also by not going too daft with trying to get smooth look like a pencil, and getting the watercolour painterly look. Thanks peta. X

Thanks for another great video Peta. I really am learning so much. We're off on holidays so I've purchased several pencils cases you recommended as I have a lot of pencils now from different ranges and I can't fathom doing no colouring for 2 weeks or trying to decided on only a few pencils or colouring books to bring with me😉 Now I can bring a lot with ease.

I love getting the notifications of your video tutorials, the anticipation of having a new one to watch is fabulous. I have just finished the Enchanted Forest Duck Pond and I learnt so much about light and different shading techniques etc. Plan to do this one next, so I have watched the video's several times. Just wanted to say that on this one at 2:03 -2:30 on the timer the screen goes black and only sound is heard for a short while, is this intentional? Thought you might like to know. Still a great tutorial and I can't wait to get started. Please keep doing what you do Peta.

+Amanda-Jane Williams Thanks Amanda. i don't know how that slipped by both of us but it looks like a compiling error. There is now a note at the start of that black section letting people know about it. thanks for the heads up.

Been waiting for this can't wait till tomorrow! It's well late at the moment cause I can't sleep but if I started now I would be up doing it all night. I know u get asked so many questions but I really want to know what single derwent artist you recommend getting. I have the tin 24 but really want to add to them. I have the big tin of polychromos but the colour selection doesn't seem quite as good as the derwent. Would be so grateful if you could list some of your favourites and ones you wouldn't be without. Thanks for all the tips vids and tutorials I'm a NEWB and learnt so much from you! Jo XD

+Jo Wood Hi Jo, i recently replied to someone who asked the same question with a long spiel of about six colours and why. I'll try to find it for you and repost my answer here. Sorry, I'm a bit flat out this weekend but i will try to find it next week.
@PetaHewitt8 жыл бұрын
+Jo Wood And I found it within the next minute! lol. here it is: I LOVE that Kingfisher blue! lets see… it depends on what you are colouring. I like the ‘water green’… there doesn’t seem to be any other pencil quite like it… it’s a VERY light green that i love to use when colouring sea water that is close to the surface. Burnt Carmine is a really nice rich dark reddish brown that makes great shadows with things that are basically pink or red. The Chocolate is a super rich dark brown. Juniper green is a lovely soft smokey cool green that is perfect for trees in the distance. i love the Pale Vermillion… basically the vermillion but several shades lighter. Magenta… is a must! You just can’t mix that super bright dense pink any other way. Dark Violet is a super intense dark purple colour. The colour range of the Derwents is my favourite colour range out of all of my pencils.

Hello, Peta. You're so popular! I saw one video today (channel "coloring with Alena") - it's completely the same coloring book by L.Cullen using Derewent inktense. But, when I found your videos today, I 'm sure, you're the best.

Hi Peta, thank you for this great tutorials. I have the book and also bought the magical Christmas ! Do you have it and did you colored allready some pages? Ask it because I can't find nowhere a colored page! Can you show it when it suits you? Tfs
@PetaHewitt8 жыл бұрын
+Rita Troch Hi Rita. Yes I do own a copy of Lizzie's 'The Magical Christmas' but sadly, with all the review commitments and videos I am making, I haven't had time to start colouring in it yet. I think I will start working in it as we approach Christmas so that I can make seasonal blog posts.

Peta, I haven't heard you mention this: How do you keep the paper flat when it dries. In the video it looks absolutely flat - no rippling at all. Thanks.
@wildfirefox4448 жыл бұрын
I hope Peta has more advice. I have heard her mention in a different video that her paper in this book does warp a bit but not too badly. It's noticable in some shots. Also, her Magical City is from the Australian Penguin Books publishing which uses better, thicker paper than the US Penguin (someone correct me if I got that wrong). I've heard from many people that the US one has poorer quality paper unfortunately. I received my book (US) from Amazon recently and if i'm not careful with the amount of water I use it bleeds through the page. Not fun but still love the book.

Once thoroughly dry I close my book and put a weight on top of it. So far it flattens out very well.

Petra ur coloring is beautiful an the music is awesome the guitarist as well would u share with us who's music that is?

Unfortunately I do not know the artist, the music comes as part of the video editing software and does not include any information in regards to the music creators.

Hi Peta! I really enjoy your videos. I was thinking about getting a set of these pencils...I have a question can you erase them if you mess up before you activate them with water? Thanks for making great tutorials!
@PetaHewitt8 жыл бұрын
+Bennie Fernandez That is a good question. let me try that... okay... i tried with the three primary colours and the answer is you can lighten them a bit but they will not erase all together.

Part 3 is drying! My biggest problem is telling when you changed pencil colors in the speed coloring. I have to do a lot of back and forth in the video to find it and sometimes try to stop it. Wonder if our husband could put the pencil color on the screen someplace where it won't interfere? Thank you so much for making this color along~

You can slow the video down?? I don't have anything in the right corner other than the time of the length of the video and the icon for minimising or enlarging the video (confused)...
@annwooten8078 жыл бұрын
+Linda Sjöberg Are you using an iPad to view this if so there is no way to slow it down except to to reduce the quality of the video and that option is at the top right where there are 3 little dots. If you click on that you get an option to choose the quality of the video. This is not as good an option as viewing on a PC though where you can click on the little gear icon at the bottom right and choose the speed. I was confused by this for many months too until I started using my PC to view Peta's wonderful tutorials. I hope this helps.
@lindas144hobbies8 жыл бұрын
+Ann Wooten I came to think of this as well after I posted the question. I always use an iPad to watch KZbin. I guess I'll try the PC if I can't follow the speed colouring :-) Thx for your help!

Linda: You can get the Tubex app for iPad and it will allow you to slow down videos on the iPad. I use it very often just for that purpose and it works great! Hope that helps 😊

Can I use this water brush over my goldenfaber or polychromos colors? They are not aqua or watercolor.

I don't understand your directions to slow the video down. Could someone tell me where the "?" button is located? Watch all your videos and have learned so much about shading and everything else.
@paula49688 жыл бұрын
+Judith Burkhard In the bottom right corner of the video screen there is a round gear button. Click on that and you'll see a setting called speed. :)
