I can confirm the 3rd design for an item loader still work in the 1.19 version of Java but I am not sure about the others as I haven't personally tested them. The tutorial is very useful and it was what I was looking for to fit into a design I am currently working on, by combining existing redstone designs into one. Thank you for the useful guide Rex

Also confirmed to work in 1.19.2. I want to point out that if you put the minecart on the rail in the loader it won't be in the right position for the comparators to work. It's best to use a powered rail to send it into the station where the unpowered rail will catch it in the right position where the comparators will detect it, and then whole thing will work as intended.

An important thing to note about these designs is that in all the unloader mechanisms, the chest below the hopper is absolutely necessary. When you have two hoppers instead, the items slide right through without activating the comparator, but a hopper and a chest seem to stall the item flow by just a tick, enough so that the comparator can detect that something is in the hopper and do its job.

CK20XX I just figured this out too. My design was not working with high speed carts cause of this issue. The point is that a hopper pulls and pushes. So the unloading hopper pulls items from the cart at 2.5 items per sec and pushes them at 2.5 i/s in the next one. But if the next hopper is below, it will also pull items out of the first hopper with 2.5 i/s. Than the first hopper gets unloaded twice as fast as it gets filled resulting in it being empty while their are still items in the cart.

1.17, still works to this day. I make my super smelters with this circuit, one for the fuel and another for the input. Easiest way to set up a smart super smelter ever.

Great video. I like that in most of your videos you explain (at least partially) how the circuits actually work. Most video makers don't, and that makes it harder to learn how to modify designs or come up with new ones.

That's a pretty slick idea. If you haven't, you could even then link it to a hopper pad to stand on and then just craft more shears than you can hold and they'll fall right in with no need to repeatedly empty your inventory.

I'm happy to let you know that your (what I assume is yours) minecart unloader design is the best as far as I've seen. The newer designs are cool but one issue arises and that is the Minecart doesn't stop to unload and the signal repeats itself this sending the Minecart away after only unloading 3 blocks. Excellent work.

I'm just commenting because I'm genuinely so thankful for that final design. I'm playing in 1.19.0 bedrock edition and it was literally exactly what I specifically needed. Most designs were using Hopper minecarts but the thing is that I needed it for a gold farm and I wanted to smelt down the swords into nuggets. Accounting for the chest Minecart was super helpful. Also the fact that you created logic that sent the minecart if the minecart was full OR if the hopper was empty was also SUPER useful and I was trying to find a way to come up with a solution but I'm so thankful I found this tutorial. The lever into the side of the comparator in particular was especially helpful. Serious props, you're a legend dude.

@@amongusjoin7996 it should, i did notice if the minecarts are going too fast, or of they get pushed by the player or a mob, sometimes they'll get jammed up in there and they won't power the powered rail cause they're too high, but those are both things that you can control for in a design like that

This is imperfect. I made one more advanced. I needed the minecart to pick up items, switch rails when full, then stop and unload items until empty then it goes back to original track to pick up drops.

Little problem I ran in to with the unloader: I had a couple of hoppers in a row leading to my storage system and it didn't unpower the rail. It just extracted 1 item and left immediately. Easy to fix by putting a chest under the hopper that extracts from the minecart. Thanks for the tutorial, it's a fun build! (1.14.2)

In the last design, change the block on top of the piston to a Redstone block and remove the comparator that is going out of the hopper if you only want full minecarts. If you want to get the minecarts instantly back in place you can put a dispenser at the back of the track with chest minecarts in it and hook it up to the torch that goes off if the minecart is full. (works for ps4 January 2017)

Can confirm this still works on bedrock 1.14.60, if you’re like me any you build these as shown before placing them on you’re survival mode only thing I would suggest is, where the 3 activator rails are placed next to the detector rail, place only 1, as the Minecart travels too fast for the activator rail to be deactivated to unload so bear this in mind. Great build 👍🏻 as my minecart currently takes about 2 min trip from mine to main base this helps me out a lot can’t wait to put this into survival world I’m building with daughter

Thanks Rex. I know this is a couple years old, however, as said before, GREAT explanation as well, you took it slow enough for ANYONE to comprehend. This is the second time I've used this system. Yes, it is the third set-up. It also does work on the console. At least the 360 console. I needed something like that because I'm mining out a mountain. LOL. Thanks again. TWO THUMBS UP!! I think I might snag some of the mechanics in this (specifically out of the last one) for my super smelter system. Basically going to be allowing a minecart to leave once it has signal strength 3 (46 blocks), run down a 23 furnace track and back, and then fill it back up to 46 by comparing the blocks as shown in the last build. Issue with checking the chest is it'd be hooked up to an infinite cobblestone generator, which will overflow the chest and not actually diminish as it goes down.

The first two are no longer at a massive disadvantage due to shulker boxes you can now hook them up to a shulker box loader so they'd transport full shulker boxes in one slot which is equivalent to a single chest so that allows bulk movement using the first two designs

I've just built this loader design on 1.19.4. Thanks! I found a bug though, if your goods chest has more items than the minecart chest you might face an issue, if your minecart is not completely full and the hopper still has items it won't leave the station. To fix this, I replaced the last lever with a dropper and the dropper should be 80% filled so the signal coming out of the comparator is not 15. This way the minecart will leave with around 80% of it's cargo.

this is super awesome and i love your vids and how you explain what the purpose of things are. heres my notes on the third loader. since i used this for a mob farm i had a lot of stacks of just 3 or 4 items like sugar or glowstone dust so i had to move the lever farther away so it only powered to 11 and not 15 otherwise it would never leave for me. also i found i needed exactly two powered rails in front of the detector rail other wise the cart would stay under the fence post. not sure why. I hope this helps someone somewhere v 1.15

Just wanted to add that the last part of each one (the part that stops the cart and drops off the items) sometimes doesn’t work if the minecart is coming in too fast. if you are on a server or your world is glitchy you will need to get the minecart to come in REALLY slowly so the system has time to detect the items and stop the cart. I did it in 1.8.9 so hope it helps

Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I'm looking for. When it comes to redstone I feel a bit stupid. I realized your v2 with the parking cart with 3 RS-Latches and a few logic gates reading out the hopper. Just after I got my complicated logic gate design working, I realized that the cart will wait forever, if its full and there is still stuff in the hopper... :| Nice, works fine in 1.15.2 :)

I made it work with HOPPER minecart (instead of chest cart) in JAVA 1.19.2 by having a second hopper that feeds things into final hopper above the minecart. You take the additional comparator reading from that next-to-last hopper and feed it into the piston that extends into the fence post. The idea is that the hopper minecart pulls things so fast that the reading from the final feeder hopper is always "zero" (stuff instantly transfers into hopper minecart) because hopper minecart pulls stuff faster than hoppers in the hopper line can feed it. But if you take additional reading from next-to-last hopper, the piston will lock the hopper minecart in place until either the cart is full or the line of feeder hoppers has been drained completely.

The third loader still works in 1.13, you just have to put the lever for the >= comparator three blocks away instead of one because otherwise it won't leave. Other than that everything is the same, great design and thanks for explain *how* it works otherwise I wouldn't've figured out how to make it work!

Hey Rex, Thanks for this. It's awesome and seems to be working in 1.11.2, albeit with a little strange behaviour somtimes (referring to the 3rd design here). E.g. When the minecart AND hopper are both empty, the minecart stays put - I am guessing this is intentional. If you have the spare time, would you mind performing a review of this design in 1.11.2 yourself? See if everything is working properly. I would be so grateful because this is basically the best minecart loader/unloader system I've seen anywhere! If not, thanks anyway - it's a great design. EDIT: I just saw you have a new design out! I will go check that out now :)
