I rescued a mare this year who goes back to Bold Ruler, War Admiral, Native Dancer, and Northern Dancer. She surely would have wound up going to slaughter because she has serious loading issues. I am glad to see that there are a few ethical Thoroughbred owner/trainers out there. Her racing name was Ms. True Way. Out of a mare called Ms. Will A Way. By a stallion called True Direction. She is an incredible lovely mare. It took sedation and a mustang shoot to get her loaded and home. I'm glad these people value this magnificent stallion. Sadly this mare was not a top performer and was sold to inexperienced horse people who did not maintain her as she should have been. But Rest assured she is in good hands with me and this will be her for ever home.

Race day meds are bad enough, but the unregulated training meds that nobody talks about... argh, it makes me angry to think about.

I had a long conversation a couple years ago with a heartbroken owner who had a gelding break down during a race at LSP. The owner said his horse wasn't "running on drugs" then blithely told me that the gelding got methocarbamol while training because it's "just a muscle relaxer." I'm really happy to hear that a deserving man's patience and investments finally payed off so well. Watching this reminds me that Mr.& Mrs. Chenery bred and races horses for decades in search of greatness. It's sad that Mrs. C passed before Riva Ridge won 2 out 3 and Mr. C passed before Secretariat won the Triple Crown. Not many, if any breeders can claim such an accomplishment. So far Runhappy only has a few named foals on the registry. Good Luck to All

Such a talented horse who was lucky enough to end up in the ownership of the McIngvale family, and to have such a knowledgeable and caring groom, and training team. The mandate from ownership down was unlike the majority of owners and trainers who see the horse as purely a commodity and do "anything" to get a horse to win! No abusing the horse in any way: physically, intimidation or cruelty. This team cared enough not to poison such a great athlete with "any" drugs pre-race or other. The horse ran on talent, training and daily after care, Runhappy was provided with a base diet off good quality oats, hay, and probably lots of treats (apples, carrots, etc), compared to prepared feeds I thank you for proving to the horse racing industry that it's not "required to win" to exploit such young horses by implementing typical factory style training method's, supplements, and debilitating drugs. I am happy and certain this horse was destined to find you Mr. McIngvale, you and the people caring for this horse filled his life with so much love and caring that he truly did Run Happy.
