Tweaking My Granberg 24 Mill Set-up-Martin's Old Off Grid Log Cabin

Always getting faster at setting up the Granberg Mill. With the logs hauled to the cabin site it was still too much effort to get the whole log up on a cutting platform so I did the first slab cut with the Tamarack logs still on the ground.

Pretty much the same as the old one but a bit bigger and maybe a little more pitch to the roof. It will sit on boulders so will start out a little higher too. OH and a overhanging porch off one end.

I enjoyed the scene where you put on the cold ear protection and getting your foot caught up in the strap, you are right, it was like "Oh no, he is going to trip." Sure enough it happened. Jim won't know the place the next time he is at the cabin. He will think he is staying at a lumber camp. It is nice to see that you like the Granberg Mill and making good use of it. You have reflexes like a cat! Jumped right back up when that pesky strap surprised you. I have a slippery spot down the ravine on our property that’s gotten me three times-and I know it’s there and everything. Someday I’ll put a few stepping stones in so it’s not so muddy…Anyway, it happens!! All that cut lumber of yours is looking good and will be well on the way to being seasoned when you start cabin raising in the fall!

I would say that in addition to all the other things you have done, adding wedges to the boards to lift the pressure off the chain saw is helping.

Finished all he roof boards last week so things are ready to roll. I may get the foundation rocks aligned and the first course of logs placed this spring. That way I can get the floor joists in place too.

I wasn't yelling at the screen when I saw that strap reach out to trip you up, but I did think "OH $*#&T!" when you fell. Good to see nothing more than a bruise or two came of it. Still trying to find my RV; I have secured a 'ground zero' location to keep it at and work on it/fix up/learn how they work when I do find 'the one'. Hoping I can find one and get it long-distance trip worthy in time for your May visit to the cabin; if not, will definitely make it up there in the fall, regardless of my 'transportation situation' then.
