Gotta emphasize the rarity of a 1st baseman positioning his entire body on the backside of the bag. I’ve only seen the bag covered that way on a throw to first from right field.

As much as I’d hate to say it, I think that’s the first baseman’s fault on that play. Granted they need to make a play but I don’t think most traditional first baseman are taking a knee toward right field foul line to make a play that was obviously going to be a single. Rule is that you are safe on first even after you touch the bag. And he’s not even rounding..
