She was just as big as Diana Ross, if not bigger....Diana had Berry Gordy to rely on more....plus she married very well....not to take away anything from her talent....I love her too, and she's a legend as well.....but Gladys' talent is raw and uncut....she just flat foot sang her ass off....and she's so soothing and deep!!!🥰🤗

*The Pips* was Gladys Knight's band, not 2 seperate entities.

The Pips weren't a band; they were her backup singers. One was her brother, and two were her cousins. They started singing together as very young children.

Oh yeah!! Back in the days! When songs really had meaningful memories! They were one among some of the best groups in the 60's and 70's. Music that still sounds good until this day! Good Memories!!! By the way, react to "Memories" by The Temptations.

You can crack open the crates with Gladys Knight and the Pips. Try Make Yours a Happy Home from the Claudine Soundtrack (my favorite movie of ALL TIME!) Written by Curtis Mayfield (the Legend) and performed by GK&TPs.

It is so great to see you young guys reacting to old-school Soul and R&B music. I feel like it is getting lost, and I love to see you guys discovering it.

I saw the grammys yonks ago where GK&TP won several awards. Next day I caught the train to buy their music! Story is circa 1974. They came to our city during the 1970's and their concert was something I still remember: I also agree - midnight train to Georgia is unmissable. I also read that one of the astronauts from the space era was asked if he could take only one album with him in space and he nominated MTTG.

Gladys Knight is a Queen. A Motown Legend. American Royalty... & ALL DAT! Besides her treasure throve of hits (w/the Pips), she's had a stellar solo career. Best of all, even now, she STILL sounds like HERSELF!
