Really nice theory, although I do want to point out that while it is an interesting detail, I don’t think we can use Ruined Chica with part of her beak and Shattered Chica without as solid evidence. Roxy’s whole endo changed in Ruin and let’s be honest Glamrock Freddy and Prototype Freddy are probably the same, including Prototype on Freddy’s foot was simply a last minute detail Steel Wool put in in between Ruin’s trailer and its release. Otherwise, I enjoyed the theory.

I think the prototype label hints to how and why Freddy glitched? Maybe Gregory hacked Freddy so that he could reboot in safe mode, that way, at least one animatronic is his ally. Plus, Freddy being a prototype does give off the cheap vibe that Fazbear Ent. has been known for, and gives a new idea that Freddy is just sentient, and not possessed by Michael?

I love this theroy. only one plot hole though. Chica says Gregory's name long before Vanessa catches him. I think Vanny, Vanessa's other half, already knew Gregory's name and told the animatronics when she activated the virus. And due to Chica's caring nature. She was the only of the three to use his name while searching.

It makes sense that they wouldn't refur to Gregory by name. Roxie only does later on because she has an understandable grudge with him.

I also strongly suspect 5 of the 6 suspicious arcades were indented to trigger Vanny Mode in Vanessa, with Gater Golf being a control unit that hides codes to shut the program down in case it gets out of control -- or Vanny's and Glitchtrap have served their purpose or outlived their usefulness.

I always feel like one of the biggest missed opportunities was not getting to see the animatronics talk and interact with each other at the start of the game. We see them onstage and then briefly in their green rooms, but we never get to see how they were truly meant to be before the virus got them. I can't help think that if all of them had been friendly at the start, meeting Gregory and seeing him off safely, then as soon as the doors shut and lock him inside, then they go dangerous, it would have felt more impactful. Knowing how they should have been compared to how they were for the rest of the game might have made it feel more meaningful having to damage them. Actually getting to see them be friends to each other, rather than just being told it after the fact. The classic 'show, don't tell.'

That is a good point that I totally missed: Chica twitches like Freddy did when he slammed into safe mode at the beginning. Perhaps as she got hit by the Vanny virus, Chica tried to shut down too and instead she became trapped in this horrible state of semi awareness.

Hey, I'm the Reddit user who did the deep dive into Freddy in the opening cut scene covered by MatPat a couple of years ago. Freddy's twitching was mainly caused by the fact he was in the middle of crashing at the time, because the virus got activated in him prematurely, or at least a mode of it did, while he was on stage running his Show Mode programming. The other Glamrocks were also running their Show Mode programs too, of course, and one of the programs in there was what was infected by the virus, which seems to have added a Remote Access Tool (RAT) that gave Vanny the ability to remote control or issue preprogrammed sets of commands from her terminal up in the Vanny Room. In the case of Freddy, because he crashed, P&S clearly had a standard protocol of rebooting him into Safe Mode, which is a standard feature of all Operating Systems, to limit what's running to only essential services. Meaning Show Mode would be turned off, and thus in Freddy at least, the virus would also be turned off. Freddy even says he can't sing and dance (he uses the wording "not allowed to" but I think what he really means is can't) as in the programs that enable those activities won't run in Safe Mode. This is done this way to limit what's running and thus the possible causes of a crash to help find out what caused it and fix the problem. It's also useful in removing malware (such as the Glitchtrap virus) since there's a greater chance the malware is not running in safe mode and thus dormant, and easier to remove since it can't run any of it's programming to hide or prevent its removal, such as reinstalling itself, blocking attempts to delete or uninstall it or reprogram it, etc. If it's not running, it can't do any of that. So to cure Chica, Roxy and Monty of their viruses, Gregory could have found a way to power them down, then do a manual reboot into Safe Mode and that would temporarily disable the virus in them, just as it did in Freddy. It would start back up again next time they get a normal reboot and run Show Mode programs again, but until then, they'd all have been Glitchtrap free and able to behave as Freddy tells us they should. I suspect that was originally intended as an optional path in the game, but due to time and budget constraints, Steel Wool had to cut that content.

@@Seriously_Unserious I think, that you could fill all that info in half the space. Also i analyzed the opening console too, and didn't notice anything pointing to the type of the virus. The only real times, we see the wirus interacting with the system is when it made init_task fail, and when it tried to alloc[overload]. I don't know, how you got from that to RAT. In FNaF better not to assume things, just because two facts seem to confirm that. That's how we got Michael trap. Last thing i want to mention is, that Freddy booted up into safe mode, because SW.failure due to virus interaction caused the main loop to end. Good luck recreating the same bug in already infected animatronics, because i don't think, that they or Vanny would allow you to force boot them, especially since you would probably need physical access, and special tool for that, and last time i checked, only Cassie had something like that. Let's also remember, that Gregory doesn't know anything about Safe mode, Why Freddy behaves differently from others, or computers at that matter. I also don't think, that programming in Freddy would allow him to tell Gregory, how to disable other bots, and we know the safety protocols are in the safe mode.

He talks about not wanting to go down there but being forced, which, when you combine that with what we see in the opening, and other clues, it leads to the conclusing he was being remotely controlled to do that, which means a Remote Access Tool is at least part of the Glitchtrap Virus functionality.

@@LIMEON_pl There are no specific "safety protocols" in Safe Mode, it's just a bootup option that disables unnecessary software from running, which means it disables the programs that contain the virus. If the virus is not running, it can't affect them in the present, other then any lingering psychological affects it may have on their personalities, which is a side effect normal computers/robots would not have since they're just code, that's introduced by the artificial Sentience component of them. As for the other, I know Gregory doesn't know how to reboot the others into safe mode, which does not require an exact reproduction of the error Freddy experienced, just a reboot, and manually selecting "Safe Mode" as the bootup option. He'd need either to access an on unit control panel, probably something hidden under a hatch in their casing, or trigger it remotely via a computer in Parts and Service during bootup. Would have required including lore and plot points that would show Gregory and Freddy that's a thing and how to implement it, with that being an alternate quest line to damaging them, or an optional extra quest line after damaging them, as the damage does force a shut down and reboot.

Freddy says, after he scans Gregory, that Gregory's guest profile is unknown to him. This could mean that Gregory doesn't have a guest profile and therefore isn't a guest, so the animatronics could hurt him.

@@FnH1114 To give you a short summary for not understanding is this: When we goto the parts and service room after reattaching Freddy's head, we see the blueprints of all the bots' upgrades. Roxy's New Eyes' purpose were suppose to help her with races in her track but somehow able to see through walls. Monty's New Claws' purpose are suppose to help play with the Bass Guitar due to the strings being tougher to play but were strong enough to break through hard surfaces too. Chica's New Voicebox's purpose was to replace her original voicebox to give more song performances like alters the tone to match that specific singer's voice. Unfortunately that voicebox was defective cause it causes a screech sound to stun other bots. Speaking of that, if that wasn't the case, she probs would've had the mimic's ability to mimic voices but it never happened. Ever since Fazbear Entertainment were just as lazy and don't bother to remove it and put her original voicebox back without the upgrade. Ever since, Freddy has her upgraded voicebox which as said its defective cause its trying to sound like Freddy but its static. As for how Cassie got Chica's Voicebox is probably the Original Voicebox without the Upgrade at all. Meaning it only has her voice and no screech abilities. After explaining all this, do you understand now?

It is possible that Chicka's eating disorder is not stress based. Chicka is programmed to be an advocate for eating. While she has no internal mechanisms to process food, it is possible that she was built with the ability to eat and store small amounts, just enough to get through the film shots for the adverts. She may well even know that eating more will damage her, if she is programmed with security routines that would prevent her from eating more than her storage container can hold, as a maintainance feature. She is overeating deliberately to take herself out of commission, so that she is physically unable to obey the corrupted code.

From the start I guessed the Glamrock animatronics weren’t fully doing thi so by choice. But if they were we could certainly say Roxy and Monty might have been as their personalities fit with them going after Gregory. Roxy starts being competitive and being the best do it’s likely a game for her, but her obsession with her looks and that being ruined in her shattered form makes good motivation, revenge for what he did to her. Monty’s just an angry dude, nuff said. But Chica despite her barely having any character, made me love her and feel for her. What we saw of her showed potentially her being super kind and caring, her having the cutest and friendliest look of the 3, her cute voice, and her concern for Freddy on stage. Plus the creepy use of friendly sounding voice lines twisted in a perverse way, her bad food habit, and her twitching and subtle crying and twitching eyes especially and robotic zombie like movements vs Roxy and Monty’s more organic fluid movement. All hit a chord in my heart wanting to help this poor sweet thing. She was clearly being forced to do it, which while I questioned trashing the Glamrocks, Chica’s was easily the saddest.

To be fair, god knows what the original intentions were with security breach, which parts were from dropped plot points or side quests that never got removed, I'm pretty sure the game went through overhaul after overhaul, so it's hard to tell what relates to the current version and what is just leftover from Version 1, 2, 3, etc.

I felt that Glamrock Chia's eating disorder was a programming bug, her cartoonish personality being over done in a similar vein to Roxy. This is what i think of how these animatronics are hostile in ruin: •Monty was mad cuz of his anger issues and probably the temporary possession of mxes when wearing the mask for too long •For Roxy, we notice how she still can kill in u in ruin dlc(when playing as Cassie) cuz she was blind and was still after Gregory *NOT* because of the mxes virus but because of the damage he has caused her(knowing that she is insecure of her looks), and once she actually hears Cassie’s voice, she starts acting a lot softer because of the history Cassie and Roxy had together. Although she isn’t controlled by mxes completely, she is possessed at a certain extent(like when Cassie is in the Vanny mask for too long). This explains why she is so nice by the end of RUIN to Cassie. • When u discussed about Chica, you were right on all aspects. Yet you forgot to mention that Chica can still be temporarily controlled by mxes if u stay in the mask for too long. All of this control from mxes it made by Vannessa(in her normal form) and Gregory Thank you😅

Good job noticing the little bit about the beak casing, that's an interesting detail! I was wondering why they gave us back Chica's Voice Box, as it doesn't do anything for us in game and she's the only animatronic we repair in this way. I think that this definitely could have been a scrapped storyline. In the game, they call attention to each of the character's minigames through the special notes, but to different amounts of disapointment depending on the animatronic. Roxy Raceway eventually gets played (sorta) when you use it to smash Roxy Monty's Gator Golf is used to actually defeat him by knocking the bucket onto him, and besides that its actually playable in the game itself as a seperate minigame. However, Chica's cupcakes is a minigame you hear about, its a minigame your told about, and you even travel through the area for it in the cupcake factory, but yet even when you find the strange machine in the backrooms, it can't be played. And in RUIN, its right next to this machine that you find Chica's voice box. I think its possible there was an original intent to use the minigame, and by playing the minigame or beating it, you would be able to break Chica out of the glitch. We even see an illusion of how this could work in the Balloon Boy minigame that did make it into the game. the only way to beat it is to glitch it out, leading to a weird sun and moon easter egg. Its possible that just like Sun, who wanted to protect Gregory and even tries to warn him, you could have used the chica minigame to help save Chica and maybe the balloon boy one would have saved Sun. I also think its interesting the similarities in the dividing line of who is actually evil. Freddy, Chica, and supposedly Bonnie were all good and tried to help kids, meanwhile Roxy, Monty, and Moondrop all were easily able to be taken over and never fight back or question it. There's also undeniably a theme of replacement in this game. Monty replaces Bonnie. They show in ruin that Roxy Raceway is actually replacing FOXY log ride. Its possible that afton/vanny and whoever is running things up top was trying to get rid of the old animatronics, and replacing them with "evil" ones. THe original animatronics are good because they are the ones that have seen this all before. Their the animatronics that were HAUNTED before, and don't want to be forced to do evil again. Thats why Freddy and Chica fight back, so they cant be forced to hurt people again like they were before. Roxy and Monty however, have no prior reasoning to distrust Vanny/Afton in anyway and so they are just going along with what their told.

Overall I like this theory, but idk if fanny would've had anything to do with ruin Chica since the seemingly canon end is the Princess quest ending, which means fanny was disconnected from her host and couldn't have an opportunity to damage Chica between that and ruin (tho nothing is concrete or know for sure with fanny, she may have another host. But by that point I doubt she'd have time to worry about Chica.)

I don’t think that in Ruin Chica deactivated because of the state she was in, because if that was the case she would have deactivated a long time ago. I think she intentionally deactivated herself so that she wouldn’t harm any child ever again. It was super random and odd that she was walking around fine one moment, and then gone the next. The only reason she would deactivate that makes sense to me? Because she attacks Cassie thinking that she’s Gregory, she sees that it’s not Gregory and stops herself, she realizes she’s still attempting to attack Gregory and almost killed another kid in the process, therefore she goes someplace to deactivate. Even after Cassie gives her back her voice box, she deactivates herself again. She knows that if she stays activated, she’ll forever try to attack a child thinking they’re Gregory. So she’d rather be deactivated if it means never having to hurt a child ever again. She sacrificed her own life knowing it was the only way to stop the virus in her. A virus needs a host after all, and if the host isn’t alive then it’s pointless.

I said this once before and I'm gonna say it again: Chica was fighting off the hacking and corruption the best she could. The virus took the Glamrocks' otherwise lovable personality quirks and dialed them up to extreme levels. That's why Chica is seen eating out of the garbage. Vanessa can’t be the one who told Chica his name. Vanessa does not appear to be aware of Gregory’s name prior to when she finds him and leaves him and lost and found. Chica already starts using his name before that.
