This is fascinating. My grandparents homesteaded in the Grimshaw Alberta area in the 1920s. Hard working people on land that was unforgiving. But I think they loved it by all accounts I have heard.

That gag reflex Is For Real my buddy cut open the stomach of a deer it was super cold like -25 I was warming up my hands and my truck he was moving fast trying to get a done and all of a sudden I heard this. Years ago in Montana, I worked on a grizzly bear survey. For bait we used rotted cow blood mixed with rotted fish. It was by far the nastiest shit I have ever smelled. It was stored in 1.5L plastic bottles and we'd double bag the bottles in heavy zip lock bags. You could still smell the shit. I can smell those fish watching this.

Trapping is hard work! My buddy & I used to collect dead animal Caracas’s for “stink bait” and didn’t spend a dime on bait ever and caught loads of opossum, raccoons & muskrat in Pennsylvania in the 70’s! Fun times!

Buy a small jar of Vick vapo-rub (the kind Moms used to use on kids chests in the old days). Place a small dab into each nostril before starting any stinky project. That Vapo-rub does the trick, wont make you retch or puke from the stink smell. Cant wait to see what comes in to that smelly mess! Prosperous season to you...

We used to catch creek chubs and shiners and put them in glass mayonnaise jars and put them on the porch roof in the sun to render out the fish oils for trapping. Remember my brother dropping a jar next to the porch retrieving it. Boy did we catch hell from mom, I tell ya

My dad would bury a gallon jar if fish in July and dig it up before trapping season and mix it with cooking oil and use it for cat and coyote traps .caught alot of both with it.

Only a fellow trapper can understand making bait or lure and it gets out of control. Then the joy of getting rid of it! I had a bottle of high power fish oil in a coat pocket that I forgot about. Inside it got warm and EXPLODED!
