@tristardiggin29 күн бұрын
Hey Dwayne I will look and see if there is a brand name on it. I wouldn’t recommend this one for a skid steer. I’m thinking it was made for a tractor which has the ability to roll the grapple back further. The way it’s made the skid isn’t able to roll it back far enough to keep the teeth from digging in the ground when you lower the arms all the way down. I’m probably going to sale it and get one with the double jaws instead of the single jaw. Double jaws work better too… Thanks, Sam

Back in the day when I was in this messed upped worlds work force I was into cutting trees and I got two jobs with my neighbor who had cat equipment and he had on two of his jobs to get some trees out of the tonkas way and so he wound up hireing me to deal with the trees and on both of those jobs of his I went in there and delt with the trees before he came in there with the tonkas and he told me not to worry about what that was left because the tonkas would handle that and when I use to cut trees I would cut them an inch above the root ball and that would give me a lot more wood
@tristardigginАй бұрын

Thank you for your great video! I have a technical question. I'm taking delivery of my CAT 313 GC next week. I don't have a truck and trailer yet and am figuring out what the best combination is. And to be honest, I think your dump truck with the trailer is a perfect combination!!! Maybe I'm looking wrong, but the dump trucks I see don't have the certification to pull that much weight. Or am I reading the wrong information on the internet? How much weight can you put on your dumptruck? With the dozer blade I get a total of 32,310 lbs, plus the weight of the trailer. The dump truck should be able to pull at least 40,000 lbs for the combination to work. Or am I wrong?
@tristardigginАй бұрын
Thank you Martin I appreciate that. The Mack can legally haul 40k pounds of material which puts me at a gross legal weight of 65,500lbs. So my current registration tag is for a gross weight of 74k. Which actually I can reduce to a 66k tag. Best I can tell I’m currently weighing around 66,500 lbs hauling the 313. But from what I have been told by the TN commercial DOT they look at tire weight rating and the registered tag weight to see if your gross weight is in compliance with the tires and the registration. The Trooper mentioned the truck specs wasn’t something they really even looked at, which I thought was odd. Before the Mack I was hauling it with a single axle International dump truck. I should the truck trailer and excavator pictures to a DOT officer and he said even that was legal as long as the registration and the tire rating were right. All the stuff about legal and not legal is a bit confusing to me but I think the current setup now is safe and legal. Also, a class A CDL is required as well… Hope this helps some…
@martintrost222026 күн бұрын
@@tristardiggin Thank you for your very detailed answer! I really appreciate the time you invest in answering questions and making videos! I'll have to decide whether to choose your combination or a normal semi-truck with a step-deck trailer. With the step-deck trailer, I might be able to get the skid steer on. But I couldn't take any waste from the customer. My plan is to offer land clearing in SW Florida. With a dump truck I would be flexible, but I would have to drive twice if I needed the skid steer with a mulching attachment. Maybe that's the better idea in the end. The whole weight distribution and regulations are really confusing, but where I'm from, Germany, it's just as confusing. I got my Florida CDL last year. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to have my German CDL transferred to the US. Are you satisfied with your CAT 313? I have the dozer blade on it because I don't have a dozer. I also have rubber pads on the tracks to be a little more flexible when loading and unloading at private customers. I'm curious to see if I made the right decision. And also whether the 73 hp is enough, that's not much for an excavator in this weight class. Best regards, Martin
@tristardiggin26 күн бұрын
@martintrost2220 Martin I agree! All the weight info, CDL requirements and load securement is way to complicated. I hop you get to haul both on the same trailer. That is super handy. The hp for that 313 is plenty for sure. I’m super impressed with how mine handles the work…
